The Star Garage is adjacent to our first vacation home, The Western Star Bungalow. (See the photo of our floor plan) Together we are My Star Vacation Rentals. Each property is private and has its own outdoor space. There is a shared carport and shared laundry room accessed from the outside carport entrance.

Ask about renting both places for a discounted price. The Star Garage sleeps two, The Western Star Bungalow sleeps six for a total of eight.

We are a pet-friendly place to be, but only room for one pet in the Star Garage.
- Pet fee of $50 will be added. Thanks.
- Pets are NOT allowed home alone. (I will send a list of pet sitters if you would like.)

Stream all of your favorites directly through our Smart TV. Our upgraded fiber-optic network means no streaming downtime. We have Netflix and Amazon Prime available. Bring your own passwords for other viewing options with your own accounts. (We do not have direct or Cable TV)

I do have a basic short-term rental agreement that I will email after booking, we ask for a photo ID. You can see the details of that in advance under my 'House Rules".
I also have a $500 security deposit - This IS NOT charged only authorized just in case there is a claim at the end of your stay.

This Garage has come a long way baby! Everywhere you look you will discover one more creation by John. Most every piece has a story to tell. This is his favorite place to be and soon it will be yours too!

For our Best Friends Animal Shelter volunteers - Yes! We do allow Sleepover pets when you are volunteering at the shelter!

We picked this place because it was kinda between Zion and Bryce. We are so glad we did!! This place was decorated so darn cute! Bed was so comfortable just what we needed after longs days of hiking. If we come back this way we would definitely stay here again.

So unique and fun!

It was my husband’s birthday and this was so much cuter and unique than staying at a hotel! The place is so fun and so many things to look at! Comfortable bed and great fluffy towels! We enjoyed our 3 day stay. I need to mention what great communication there is with Hannah! I feel like I was a bit extra with questions and she was always 💯 percent nice and helpful! Thanks Hannah💐

We were only able to stay a couple of nights but would love to return! This was a gem in Kanab and such fun! We appreciated the great rest in a comfortable bed, the organization and creative flair of the property, the cleanliness, the abundance of fun and hiking in the area as well as the strong communication of the property owners! Hate to give away this secret

This property it absolutely adorable and perfect for accessing Zions, Bryce, Grand Canyon North Rim and hiking around Kanab! The hosts were top notch communicating with me before abs during our arrival. The attention to detail of this property is indescribable, you think you’ve seen it all and you find more! Kitchen was well stocked with basics like coffee, filters, and cooking tools. The bathroom was the same! Did I mention the most comfy bed and fluffy towels! We are already planning our return trip!

Diamond in the Ruff

This truly a great place to stay and we cannot wait to go back and have another outstanding visit. The layout and attention to detail surpasses anything I've seen before. It literally took hours see everything they put into the design and decor of this diamond in the ruff vacation rental. This vacation rental is more than a great place to stay, it truly is a landmark that must be experienced. I'm confident that this place will soon be known across the globe as the many visitors pass through the Kanab area. I recommend you reserve your stay early since as this vacation rental will soon have a long waiting list and a missed opportunity if you are not able to reserve your place in history.

Unique/Fun/Cozy

So I rented this home to surprise my hubby who loves cars and Zion. It’s tiny living but for 2 people it’s perfect. My hubby was impressed and got ideas for his garage 😉. The detail that went into this place is amazing! Sherene was very attentive and available if needed. It was very kind to even supply us with hiking sticks, backpacks were available, coolers, big spray etc. There was even a French press which is the only thing I use to make my coffee so i was a happy camper in the morning. Bed was very comfy and it was fun using that small stove 😊. I do love tiny things and tiny cooking shows lol. There was 2 grocery stores within walking distance and Zion is only 40 min away. Bryce about 1.5 hrs away. Location was perfect! Will defiantly stay here again. Thanks for being an awesome host!

We love it when a real "car guy" comes to stay. It tickles me that you loved our tiny vintage stove! I love it too, my husband was skeptical when we found out it would cost as much as buying a new stove to have this original put back in good working order, but we are both so glad we did 😄. Come back again and we will have John take you guys out on his Classic Car Tour in his 1949 Desoto!

They Thought of Everything!

From operational lights on the truck bed to a kitchen stocked with coffee and popcorn to a binder stuffed with activities and things to do in the area, the owners thought of everything. Great check-in process. Tags and notes throughout the property tell you what you need to know. Super-equipped kitchen. Highly recommend!

-When we married 41 years ago John told me “We may never be rich, but I promise you we will never be bored!”. That was an understatement. Once in a while, I confess, I just want to be a little bored. Life is always an adventure in our family. Recreating this home has been no exception.
John loves to travel and got me hooked. So even though we are both native Utahns, we try and see some part of the world every chance we get.
John also loves to create stuff. An artist at heart! So building the Western Star has been a combination of loves. Attempting to see travel through your eyes as we have created the bungalow has been almost as fun as going somewhere new ourselves.
If you have a hankerin’ to talk about old cars or Rat Fink, give John a call. If you’d rather talk about creating costumes or quilts, Sherene is your gal. We both enjoy ATV riding, back-country hiking, and old movies.
We are so happy to be full-time residents of Kanab since 2022. We have always loved this southern part of the state, done lots of backpacking here, and were thrilled when we had the chance to purchase this home in Kanab at the end of 2015.
We have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Life is good!
We are excited to have you come and share some of the great sites that southern Utah has to offer.

We love Kanab and the surrounding areas. So much to see! And the climate is great. Still a change of seasons, but temps. seldom stay as cold as our home in Central Utah.

John is a creator and builder! The Studio is truly unique. It has been so much fun to see the fruition of our imaginations come to reality. We wanted to create the type of place we would like to stay.
