Another great place to stay at bear lake

There’s not much to complain about when everyone gets a king size bed. Nice kitchen and bathrooms. Everything was very useful and cozy. The WiFi worked well. We’d love to stay again.

Great stay at Bear Elegance - short drive to Lake Club!

House was well appointed, beds were very comfortable, kids loved the fireplace on back porch, and it was a very short driving distance to the Lake Club/pool/marina.

We frequent Bear Lake Reserve for the Christmas season and have stayed at Bear Elegance twice. The property never disappoints. It’s always a cozy stay for our family of four and we will surely be back.

Family Adventure

Bear Lake Reserve was everything we imagined it would be and more. We had family meals and kitchen was stocked with utensils. We enjoyed the fires on the outdoor living space. We also enjoyed our time hiking and relaxation at the club house.

Excellent home

A great home. Some great features, whole home Generator that works almost instantly. Outdoor living was used a lot. Stocked firewood was great, the gas assist on the fireplace made making a fire easily. Beds all Kings and comfortable. WiFi works well and needed since there is zero cell service. It is true mountain living so be prepared to climb the mountain to get to and from the Lake Club. About a 8-10 min drive. Great house and everything works well. Sundog service was outstanding. The home had a couple issues from prior renter but they were quick to fix and communication was excellent.

Very Secluded

Our house was gorgeous as well as the beach area, the grounds around the clubhouse and the views from there were spectacular. No complaints at all. We would return if staying at the property were our goal. However, we mistakenly thought this would be a great "base" location for daily activities/excursions away from the resort by looking at Google maps. But It was inconvenient-it took us 15 minutes to get to the home once on the property. It also took another 15 minutes to drive to the pool and restaurant area. And you can not walk to anything really, just have to load up car and drive to go enjoy the amenities when we were on the property. The roads are extremely narrow and curvy around the resort and that made for a stressful drive every time and there was no resort shuttle service. Again, had our intention been to stay there only, it would have been worth it. The home/resort fit the bill for a luxurious, quiet, and secluded get away. We actually checked out a day early due to the inconvenient location.

Beautiful house and location

We stayed here at Bear Lake Reserve for my son’s wedding at Castle Ladyhawke. It was a beautiful home with a beautiful setting. Very wooded and private. We loved having 3 king beds and the screened in porch with a fireplace. Firewood was provided so we enjoyed fires daily and family bonding time with the cool weather outside. This home was convenient to the lake club with the restaurant, coffee shop, gift store, pool table, 2 pools, hot tubs, the lake beach and marina. We rented a pontoon boat and enjoyed the beauty on the lake too. We did have some issues come up with the home and we called the managing company and they came promptly to help us. The gas was turned off and the water heater wasn’t working but they came to help us. My brother also knew how to turn the gas on. So it all worked out fine. I would definitely come to this resort again and the prices are much lower on VRBO then booking through bear lake reserve. We even saw a black bear, which was fun, when driving through the resort. It does take time to drive the roads of the resort since they are narrow and very windy so allow time for them and don’t look down at your phone as there are no side railings and it’s very steep drop offs. The signal is also bad if you don’t have Wi-Fi. But the resort and this home did have that. You just don’t have it when driving around. This is a very quiet secluded resort experience and best for unplugging and enjoying time with family. Will come back!

Week in the woods.

Our stay at Bear Lake Reserve was enjoyable, however, just a couple of things to share about the house. The guest cottage/ chk-in didn’t have us on their list..... so all of the paperwork had to be filled out again, which sucked after being on the road all day! Upon arrival, the air conditioning wasn’t keeping up with the stat on the lower/main level ..... pretty sure the freon needed charging and they addressed it immediately. The Living room TV was a joke...... it won’t get anything other than apps, so no local stations. Not a big deal, after all, it’s “vacation” right. I finally figured out how to operate the screen porch and master TV’s. Would really be helpful to have operational instructions for all of them for future guest! The rear screened porch “string” lights don’t work and the porch hadn’t been cleaned for some time as there were spider webs everywhere! My wife HATES the little cridders so that was fun! Finally, the Front door knob was loose and nearly fell off when we first got here. I reattached and tightened it up but it also only operates/turns one way. The staff at the main Lodge (for dining, games and swimming etc) were AWESOME! Probably just glad to see people/guests, as we hardly saw others during our 6 day stay. Pretty desolate place too but very well staffed and maintained! Be forewarned too .... Bear Lake Reserve is “WAY AWAY from EVERYTHING!!!! It’s a great “getaway” spot but boy is it a drive off the main road. Easily 15 minutes from the town of Cullowhee and an hour from Cashiers. Once you exit Hwy 107, it’s another 20 minutes plus “at least “ to any resident and down VERY winding, hilly, narrow roads. If you drive a sports car it’s a blast, if not, it’ll wear your _ss out if you leave the Reserve everyday! Keep an eye out for Bear, yes BEAR and wild turkey. Great place if you don’t want to go places but to far off the path if you’re planning river fly fishing trips or shopping. If that’s your interest, find something near Bryson City, Sylva or Cullowhee!!!
