Fully centrally heated and an extra bathroom with bath ensures a comfortable stay throughout the year. There is a garden with seating and BBQ at the front of the building where the sun stays all day in warmer weather. A small car park at the rear has an allocated space and there is free on road parking nearby. A public park over the road is ideal for children to play.
Nearby shops at Chelston or along the road provide for all your needs, a supermarket and post office are a ten minute walk away. The beach and sea front are ten minutes walk via Torre Abbey Gardens next door, a selection of restaurants and bars can be found on the sea front. The train station is a few minutes walk away for those using public transport.. Buses run every 15 minutes or so to other towns, so exploring is made easy with no need to use the car. Walking around Torbay is the best way to see local and nearby tourist attractions.
There is something for everyone and Dartmoor is only half an hours ride away. Rated highly for its location, Avenue Park is just 5 minutes walk from Abbey Sands beach and just a short drive from 6 other beaches. The sea front promenade takes you to the town past the marina in only about 20 minutes level walk. A short cut through Torre Abbey gardens past the bowling greens, crazy golf, nine hole greens and the tennis courts gives you a chance to explore activities right on your doorstep. There is a conference/leisure centre too with a gym and pool with wave machine all just three minutes walk.
Walking or driving to nearby places, you can choose from :
Cockington – a thatched cottage village with arts and craft studios and lovely park areas as well as tea rooms offering the Devon Cream Tea.
Babbacombe – to the north east of Torquay with a Venicular Railway down to Oddicombe beach, it has beautiful coastal views and a small town area.
Paignton – a long sea front town with a good beach, seaside arcades, and play parks for younger children, a large multiplex cinema and bars and cafes and a small town.
Teignmouth - a seaside town with long promenade and small town. Shaldon is across the estuary and is a pretty fishing town.
Dartmoor - beautiful area of moorland stretching into north Devon it offers a day of walking and stopping to admire miles of views and pretty stopping places for refreshment.
Dartmouth – a picturesque river port, famous in nautical history and the home of The Royal Navy College. Old buildings and narrow streets, with pretty houses and buildings along the hillsides. Take the steam train from Paignton to Kingswear and the ferry across to Dartmouth for a fun trip.
Exeter and Plymouth - offer some retail therapy and can be easily reached by car or train. The train station is a 10 minute walk away.
The Eden Project – in Cornwall
Will take about 2.5 hrs to get there and is a very good day out. Cornwall offers a different feel to Devon and is a good day out with many small towns to visit such as St Ives, Looe and Polperro.
Other seaside and inland towns are not far away, Exeter, Tavistock, Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Taunton to name but a few.

About the host
Hosted by Sandra

Hello, I'm Sandra and I own Avenue Park which has been run by me as a very successful Bed and Breakfast for over 10 years - until now.
Due to the ideal location and lovely Torbay area I decided to turn Avenue Park into self catering accommodation to allow myself more time off ;-)
Living in Torquay for the past 11 years it has become my home. People here have time for you and its much more relaxed and friendly than the busy areas and life I've known before. I believe you will enjoy your time here with all there is to do and see along with the perfect base to come home to and relax. I welcome constructive feedback to enable me to make sure I have thought of the things you would require for a home from home experience.
I may be around to greet you or catch up with you during your stay but if not then I am normally contactable or someone else will be able to respond for any queries etc.
I look forward to hearing from you and making your stay special.
Sandra ;-)

Why they chose this property
Newly redesigned and refitted I have two self catering options. A large 3 bedroomed house and a two bedroomed apartment. Both having luxurious decor and fittings to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Avenue Park was built in circa 1890 probably for the naval officers as Torquay was a major naval town then. It has been extended over the years but still has a lovely warm and welcoming ambience. The feel of the property is homely but spacious and reatains some of its original character like the staircase and mouldings.
Overlooking parkland it has an ideal location just a few minutes walk from the sea and not far from stunning countryside.
With a wealth of varied things to do and see as well as the stunning scenery its an ideal holiday location. Getting around is easy, walking and using public transport with a bus stop arounfd the corner, so you can park the car and forget about driving, which means you can relax.
