An original fisherman's cottage in Brancaster Staithe, Marram Cottage has been sympathetically renovated to retain its cosy charm but provide all the modern conveniences a family needs. These fisherman's cottages were the lifeblood of the community for centuries. The last fisherman to own the cottage was John Ullet, who gave the cottage its unique carved (feature) fireplace with fish motifs.
Charming and quaint, this cottage exudes historic coastal charm with welcoming modern day comforts. The sitting room features a cosy open fire that adds extra warmth and ambient light on chillier evenings - perfect for hunkering down with a film, board game or good book. Leading through in to the dining area, the pine dining table makes the ideal setting for grazing breakfasts or evening meals spent sharing in delicious food and good conversation. From here, natural light from the lantern roof floods the well-equipped kitchen. With french doors leading out to the courtyard garden, this area has a lovely open feel. A ground floor bathroom featuring bath with shower over completes this floor. Upstairs two inviting bedrooms are presented. The master bedroom hosts a double bedroom and has the added convenience of an en-suite bathroom. Twin beds are offered in bedroom two.
Outside, to the rear of the property there is a fully enclosed courtyard garden styled with shrubs and potted plants. This lovely suntrap offers garden furniture, meaning dining al fresco from the barbecue is must when the sun shines.
Brancaster Stores and Post Office houses a brilliant deli and coffee shop, as well as stocking plenty of every day goods. Brancaster Village Hall hosts Bar 71 where good times, drinks, friends and fun are served. It is the social heart of Brancaster village offering a licensed, family friendly bar with the cheapest drinks along the coast, and a calendar of monthly events including live music, discos, quiz nights, bingo, skittles and poker tournaments. Adjacent is five acres of playing fields, including two full size goals, a children's playground along with equipment designed to help coordination and balance, and a family area with picnic tables. There are also new tennis courts. Brancaster offers something for everyone!
Additional Information: Two well behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge). There is no starter pack (tea, coffee, sugar and milk) or welcome hamper provided at this property. Travel cot and high chair available on request. Please bring your own linen for the travel cot.

Nice little character fisherman cottage with everything you need for relaxing break. Location is excellent with plenty of walks for dogs, and 2 nearby pubs.

Comfortable cottage in heart of Norfolk coast
We spend a lovely week in Marram Cottage in March. Weather was variable so the open fire was a lovely source of heat on one of the colder evenings. The instructions to the house were good, and access very easy. Beds were comfortable and quilts lovely and warm. Although you could park on the road it was a very good facility to park the car in an allocated parking space in the opposite village hall car park. There were some walks you can do straight from the house and easy access to all the towns and villages nearby.

lovely cottage in a good location
This was a lovely cottage well decorated and comfortable.Warm and close to a good pub come restaurant and in a good location..Very handy car park. The only thing we thought that let it down was the downstairs bathroom with a shower over the bath. This was in drastic need of being updated and I would not return because of this.Shame

Thank you for your lovely review. This can be invaluable as sometimes unless things are reported to us or an owner as being faulty, we are unaware that things need dealing with. We really appreciate your recommendations.I do hope we can welcome you back to Norfolk soon.

Perfect cottage for two
A lovely little cottage with everything one could need on holiday. Comfortable beds, very comfortable settee, well equipped kitchen and good eating in nearby pubs. Good shop in Burnham Deepdale, within easy walking distance, for the things you forget to bring with you. We followed the recommendation to take the walk back from the shop along the coast footpath the first morning - lovely walk at high and low tide. Lots of good walking in the wider area and the Coastliner bus means that you can leave the car in the car park and explore. We intend to return.

Short break
I booked the cottage last minute for a short break at the end of the Summer holidays. I was very impressed with the service from Norfolk Hideaways. The website was brilliantly laid out and booking online was quick and easy. All necessary information was sent to us in advance. The cottage is in a great location on the main road in Brancaster Staithe. Two pubs, a garage, shops and the coastal path are a short walk away and it is easy to explore the rest of the coast by car. The cottage was generally clean, comfortable and well equipped. We liked the open plan layout and allocated parking space at the village hall across the road. The courtyard garden was also pleasant. Very steep staircase which could be an issue for older people or young children. Master bedroom is quite small and lacks storage space which could be problematic for longer stays. The beds are very comfortable! All in all, we had a lovely holiday, spending time together as a family before our daughter leaves for university. Many thanks, just what we needed. The welcome bottle of wine was also much appreciated!

A brief escape
This cottage is ideally located (between two pubs) and a short walk to the Staithe which is great if you are dog walking. The cottage was clean, bed-linen and towels smelt freshly laundered and the sofa was very comfortable. Two bathrooms which again were clean and had plenty of storage for shampoo/toiletries, etc. A well equipped kitchen with french doors leading to a small courtyard garden.

Beautful period cottage
1) Location was great for us as we were sailing at the nearby harbour. It's also good for walking onto the marshes. The main road is right outside which isn't scenic but the noise was not a problem.
2) Appearance was good. The cottage had been modernised really nicely. The stairs are STEEP with a carpet that has worn a little and so become slippy on the last few steps esp if you have bare feet. This is a risk of falling for people who are not steady on their feet inc smaller kids.
3) Bedrooms were comfortable.
4) Garden - paving + gravel. This is a bit scruffy and overlooked with no views but OK for sitting out in
5) Kitchen - well equipped with big fridge and nice cooker
6) Bathrooms - nice with good showers
7) Living room: Generally OK with nice dining table but with two problems.
One was the TV was too small with a clunky tuning system. This shouldn't matter in summer but might if you were there in winter.
The other is that the undersides of the sofa and chairs appear not to have been moved or hoovered to remove dust etc. This mattered because the house appears to have had people staying with dogs. My kids and I are a bit allergic to animal hair and there was lots of this under and on the furniture so we got allergic reactions when we sat down.
This would not matter so much to people without allergies or to people with pets of their own! But the furniture and floor beneath do all need a good vacuuming. Other parts of the house were clean and tidy.

Beautiful, lovely and wonderful
We had such a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage. We took our two little dogs, The garden is really nice and safe for the dogs no chance of them escaping. Bedrooms are a nice size and there are two bathrooms. It is set in a perfect location, easy reach of Hunstanton, and wells. Brancaster beach is wonderful for walking dogs.
The white horse pub is less than a 5 minute walk they serve incredible food and lovely gin.
Deepdale cafe does the best full English I've ever eaten.
I would definitely stay again, only criticism is it could do with a little bit of TLC.

Nice cottage, shame about the outside space.
Cosy, comfortable cottage in good location within short walking distance of The Jolly Sailors pub, The White Horse and many great walks. The cottage was clean, although the ground floor would benefit from some attention in respect of a new blind and some additional cleaning in the kitchen area. There is a nice table and chairs in the outside space, but the garden lacked some t.l.c. to make it more inviting to spend time outside in the evenings when hot and sunny.
