Fabulous place with great hosts. Still enjoying the wine. Cheers
From the moment we arrived at Clos Vieux Rochers Steve and Rob made us really welcome and proved to be excellent hosts. The property was beautifully presented and maintained to a very high standard. We had booked for four nights, however with this standard of accommodation and it's proximity to Saint Emilion and Bordeaux we elected to stay for a further two nights. We learned so much from the tour of the vineyard and just loved tasting the fine wines. We have very fond memories of our stay and would recommend that anyone visiting this area should take the opportunity to stay at this beautiful property. We will definitely be returning.
Best wishes Neil and Carol

What a fantastic couple! We could visibly see that Neil and Carol were completely at home and felt very relaxed from the moment they arrived. Their appreciation of our property was very evident and delighted us with their acknowledgement of not only our property but the beautiful location we are situated in.
It was a pleasure to give them both a tour of the vineyard and complimentary tasting of the wines we produce and maybe they will share, just a little, of the bottles they took home with them!
They were very respectful of our property and left if immaculately clean when they left. It would be a pleasure to welcome them back and we hope they do return for a visit in the future.

A Welcoming Winery
My wife and I spent three days at Clos Vieux Rochers and we could not have been happier with our choice. The property itself is peacefully situated on a quiet road in a beautiful area, close to St Emilion and other attractions yet away from it all.
Owners Steve and Rob have clearly put a lot of heart (and sweat I'm sure) into the property. The cottage we stayed in was clean and comfortable with a tasteful decor and included everything one could ask of a self-catering unit.
One of the highlights of our visit to the area was the the tour of the Clos Vieux Rochers Winery itself. The owners are passionate about making wine and seem to genuinely enjoy sharing the process with others. Whether it was answering my wife's questions about the finer points of wine making or explaining to me why a Bordeaux is a Bordeaux, Steve treated all our questions as equally important. We appreciated his sincere and genuine approach.
If you choose to stay at Clos Vieux Rochers, you won't be disappointed. It's a charming place. Well done gentleman.
Thanks again,
Scott and Betty

It was a pleasure to host Scott and Betty at our property. They were a very genuine and friendly couple who were very friendly and interested in what we were doing here at Clos Vieux Rochers. We hope they will visit again for a stay in the future and enjoy their onward travels.
About the host
Hosted by Steve and Rob
Rob and Steve have been involved with hospitality, travel and tourism and retail all of their working careers, so they appreciate client needs and strive to give the highest levels of customer service and quality. One of their latest challenges was being part of a team responsible for bringing a large hotel with no stars up to 4 star status and achieving two rosettes for one of its restaurants in the process. Their individual and joint skills come to life when greeting guests and visitors to ensure that their expectations are not just met but surpassed in a comfortable, friendly and approachable ambiance. Having lived and worked in other countries previously, they are accustomed to embracing different cultures and customs and are in their element when exploring new and exciting places to discover or sampling foods and drinks native to the region they are living. You will find their exuberance in passing on this information both valuable and interesting - particularly over a glass or two of their own produced wine.
Why they chose this property
"We finally visited this area of France after friends recommended it to us. We instantly fell in love with the beauty, the quiet pace of life and of course - the wine! When searching for a property that we could call home and develop into a business venture we stumbled across Clos Vieux Rochers - an unloved small vineyard with a courtyard surrounded by an ensemble of derelict and poorly maintained buildings. Nestled in the rolling hills at the heart of the vineyards of Bordeaux we are only a short drive to St Emilion. We have incredible views with easy accessibility, the perfect location for our dream home and an idyllic base to explore the region and for our guests to enjoy our property and grounds - including our adjoining woods and valley (perfect tranquility and inspiration for painters, readers and writers). What may have made others make a hasty retreat, sparked our vision and imagination - we saw the potential of what this hidden gem could become. We have already renovated the derelict owners house, and adjoining visitor/guest tasting room and shop." The old farmhouse, which was added to during its long history, has now been renovated to form four beautiful one bedroom gites, each totally independent and individual whilst offering all the modern conveniences expected of todays travellers. This dream project continues to unfold and will do so over the coming years in the replanting and development of the vineyard, facilities and cellars.
What makes this property unique
Visiting Clos Vieux Rochers offers its guest the opportunity to experience the day to day life of a fully working vineyard. As the seasons change so also can your experience. Rob and Steve live and work at the property so are always at hand to answer questions about the wine making process and if you are fortunate, maybe even a guided tour of the vineyard and cellars. They are happy for guests to explore the property with its adjoining valley and woodland enabling them to absorb the beauty of their surroundings.
