About this property
Rustic traditional villa with private pool and garden in Pollença
Family traditional villa situated on a small hill 30 mt from the road and just 1 km to the centre of Pollença and 100 meters from the entrance of the town, so you don´t need to take the car. It has its own delightful terrace, garden, swimming pool and roofed BBQ with dining area.
It has a homely ambience with original features of the Mallorcan countryside ancient life, beamed ceilings, terracotta floor tiles and open stone walls
The accommodation is on two levels. In the first floor there is a spacious lounge, a dining room, a well equipped kitchen also equipated with a dish-machine with an antic fireplace and a bathroom. In the second floor you will find the three bedrooms (2 twin rooms and a double one) equipated with air-conditioning and another bathroom, all benefit from glorious views of the rolling countryside, the Serra de Tramuntana mountain and Puig de Maria.
North Mallorca: The North of the island is where the Serra de Tramuntana mountains reach the highest peaks as Puig Major (1445 m), Massanella (1364 m.) and Puig Tomir (1102 m.). It is also where the Lluch Monastery lies, in a valley 500 m. above sea level, place of pilgrimage to see the Moreneta (a dark Madonna).
The mountain skyline in Port de Pollença is breathtaking, with their unique shapes and colours.
North Mallorca beaches are characterized by the rocky shores of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, which hide beaches like Cala Sant Vicenç, Cala Bóquer, Cala Figuera and Cala Murta.
Port de Pollença and Alcúdia are more family-oriented as they have long beaches with white sand, clear waters and nearby pine woods. One of the most gorgeous beaches in North Mallorca is the beach of Formentor, pictured on many postcards.
Eat in Mallorca: As an island with fertile ground and a long tradition of cultivation of the land, our diet is based on pork, seafood, vegetables and large amounts of olive oil.
You will easily find more authentic Mallorcan food in the less touristic areas.
Some of our specialities you cannot miss are:
- Pa amb oli. Is a staple of Mallorcan culture. It literally means 'bread and oil', but it usually involves some tomato as well. Normally we eat it with cheese, jamon serrano or even with some figs, as traditionally.
- 'Sobrasada' is a Mallorcan pork salami-style sausage, with added red chilli pepper.
- 'Tumbet' is layers of fried potato with aubergine, tomatoes, peppers and garlic.
- 'Arroz brut' literally means 'dirty rice' and it is a vegetables and meat soup with a very thick and dark stock (that is why it seems to be dirty)
- 'Ensaimada', a sweet, rolled pastry, is another famous Mallorcan speciality. You can find this easily in the bakery.
Mallorcan wine: Wine making has been part of the culture of Mallorcan living for centuries.
Similar to the French AOC designation, the ‘Denominacio d'Origen’ classification ensures the quality of Mallorcan wines. The main wine producing areas are:
- Binissalem is the best known region in Mallorca for wine production. It is here that the re-birth of the industry began in the 1990’s. This wine is smooth and elegant, and is matured in oak barrels.
- Pla and Llevant. is where the first vines were grown back in Roman times. Both single variety and blends are made here, with the Chardonnay, Moscatell, Moll, Macabeo and Parellada grapes taking centre-stage.
- Serra de Tramuntana. The mountains create a micro-climate for vineyards in this region which means that the resulting wines are distinctive to this area. There are some vineyards in Pollença, called Mortixt.
