We had a wonderful time, the house was great, and the hosts were super friendly and really easy to work with. We really felt at home, and would recommend to anyone.
My fiancé and I stayed there for 4 days and we enjoyed doing things around the city! The cabin was so cozy with black bear and moose themed decorations! The host gave us very clear instructions and would reply to my messages quickly when I had questions. The cabin provided everything we needed! We would love to stay here again someday!.
Great central location. Owners stayed in touch and answered questions quickly. Walking distance to town (but secluded) and 5 min drive from McCauley Mountain. Had everything you need. We would definitely rent again.
This is an older property but cozy and well organized.. It’s very peaceful especially at night, surrounded by trees.
The owners are very friendly and eager to answer any questions. The local deer walk right through the property. We really enjoyed sitting by the big window each morning and evening to watch for our four legged visitors. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Perfect family getaway! Just a few minutes from Enchanted Forest and town. We found a cute arcade for a rainy night. There were deer everyday which made the kids whole trip! Will definitely be back. Perfect spot and the host was very easy to connect with.
Wonderful stay here at this cabin. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Everything here was very nice, clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was very nice and in a convenient location to town and trails! Would stay here again for sure.
This property is the perfect place for a get-a-way. So clean, comfortable and far enough away to feel away from it all, but close enough to the hustle and bustle if that is what you want We loved it and will be back.
The house was absolutely adorable! The reviews did not disappoint, deer met my girlfriends and I every morning while we drank our coffee.
Before leaving my friends and I commented on how relaxing and comfortable the house was, hoping to make it a summer tradition.
Upon arriving home, my hopes of ever visiting The Reeds’ home again were dashed. I was notified of an additional $50 charged to me for “damages” to their property. The damages they spoke of? Towels left in the washing machine (we tried washing them, but the machine would not turn on… we assumed it was not available to guests) and the deck chairs were left un-stacked and uncovered.
I tried reaching out to Matthew after receiving his message, clarifying the situation. 3 days later and no response…
I’m all for respecting the properties I rent, but catching travelers for silly little “fees” like that seriously put a damper on your weekend. Especially after we made sure to disinfect and tidy up the rest of the house!
I’d stay elsewhere…

The not so great charges were due to charges we received by our cleaning lady. All renters are told to bring their own towels. Our cleaning lady is not responsible for doing laundry. Sarah and girlfriends used our personal towels and left them dirty and and wet in the washing machine. We tell all of our renters to bring own towels and it is also stated on our checklist that I go over with our renters on what to bring. Everyone I talk to, we ask them to please leave the place how you found it. They did not. I also told her several times to call and that no question is silly about our camp. She did not. Had Sarah called us about the washing machine, she wouldn’t have been charged. It may seem silly, but it is our property and we were charged for her actions. And as for not getting back to an email....I’m sorry. I did respond within VRBO’s timeframe. Life threw us a curveball and I wasn’t right on top of my emails.
Nice cozy cabin and a great location, a comfortable home away from home! It was close to Nicks Lake which is where my family was camping and the village of Old Forge was also close by. We had good communication with the owners and enjoyed not having to sleep in a tent!!! The house was clean and neat when we arrived with a great kitchen and amazing deck to watch the deer who came right up to it! The only thing was we had to bring all our bedding due to the Covid situation. It took a lot of room in our car. Also, the cabin had a slight musty odor which I think was because of the weather being so wet. We would definitely stay here again.
This cabin was spotless, adorable, and had everything we needed. Location was perfect being so close to town yet secluded just enough for some privacy and wildlife spottings. We will be back again soon!
We are from the Finger Lakes of New York State. We try to get up to the ADK as much as we can. We love to hike, ski and relax while we are here. We love talking to our guests and seeing where everyone is from.
Why they chose this property
We were able to buy our camp from my husband's grandmother to keep it in the family. We love the location and our neighbors. The backyard is so quiet and the wildlife pass right on through.
