Daniel and Ellen Rowe
About Daniel and Ellen Rowe
We are a fairly typical family in that we like good food, socializing with our friends and family, but we also love to come back to an approximate 100 co-owned acres for the privacy and nature. Deer and turkey are commonly seen. We also enjoy hiking in the great outdoors. Our daughter recently graduated from college. The home and land have been in our family for multiple generations. The story has been passed down that Daniel's great-grandmother hid the livestock to prevent troops that had arrived in this area during the civil war, from taking them. Daniel's great-grandfather was away in the war at that time. One of our elderly neighbors also told us that moonshine was made in the cellar/basement of the home back in the 1930's and 1940's. We want to share the beautiful and historic setting with others who choose to come and stay here. The main thing is to come and relax, chill out, and just have a great time!
Why Daniel and Ellen Rowe chose Nebo
You won't find many properties who offer this kind of setting and accommodation. House is roomy, private and has a historic feel.

So Peaceful and Quiet
This was such a great place to unwind after a busy work week. We were able to rent it on a day's notice, and drive up after work on a Friday evening.
The house sets back off the road down a long gravel lane. It's an old two story farmhouse that is actually the owner's homeplace, and it's furnished with lovely old furniture and antiques. It was also quite comfortable with individual climate control in each room.
We spent most of the weekend just relaxing at the house, but we did go out to eat a couple of times. I have celiac disease, and we were able to find several restaurants nearby with great gluten-free options. We also visited the winery next door and enjoyed talking with the owner and listening to the band.
Each morning we'd sit outside and have coffee, and watch the deer and turkeys. The deer would come up quite close and seemed to enjoy watching us as much as we enjoyed watching them!
We hated to go home when Sunday rolled around, but we look forward to visiting again!
Thank you so much for the very nice review and you’re welcome back anytime the home’s available!
If you are looking for a quiet getaway for a few days, this is the place. The owners have put together a beautiful home filled with history and antiques. The nostalgia is wonderful, and for an "aging boomer" and retired military officer like me, it was a perfect retreat. The historic home sits well back on a large tract of land that appears to still be farmed. On this land, deer and turkeys roam, and you can frequently see the turkeys strutting about and the deer frolicking in the field. We only needed one bedroom, but there are three. There is a game room with a ping pong table, and eat-in kitchen and a beautiful living room filled with antique pieces and several antique clocks. All modern conveniences are available. Super nostalgic bathroom, that is reminiscent of an outhouse with an old Sears Catalog even close by. Satellite TV, DVD player, and internet top off the modern conveniences. Even better, a cellphone tower sits about 100 yards away so there is 5 bar cellular available. The owners are very flexible and unobtrusive, and offered to let us check out late, but we had to leave. There are many wineries within a few miles, so if you are a wine drinker, this place could be as close to heaven as you can get here on Earth. Reserve without hesitation.
Very nice country setting. Lots of history within the rental property. Looking forward to going back.
Quiet retreat. Peaceful setting.
Relatively new to VRBO. It was a wonderful experience. Beautiful setting. We wish we had been able to stay longer!
A very nice couple. Dean & Susan are always welcome to stay here!
It was a very inviting place to stay.
Peaceful, quiet, and unique. Our host were friendly and nice people. I will visit again as soon as possible.
Terrific Couple and welcome back anytime!
Amazing place in the middle of perfect...
We were looking for a place sort of last minute. This farmhouse was perfect. Very clean, and well kept. We really liked how the furnishings were replicating the period, but the place was also updated with amenities of now. Nestled in between falls, Mount Mitchell, Lake James, and a bunch of vineyards (one being next door), this home is paradise. We enjoyed our stay, and the ping pong table was a nice little touch, as we both enjoy it.
Extremely nice couple that left the home in great condition-A renter's dream couple!
Whether you are looking for a peaceful get-away from life's fast-track, or boating/swimming and other lake activities, or hiking and sightseeing, or visiting wineries.....we are a good choice for your comfortable accommodations.
