Gatehouse Oregon is a completely remodeled, spotlessly clean, comfortable, peaceful space located 20 mins south of Portland Oregon in the quiet town of Willamette. The house is all yours, and shares the 1.5 acre secluded property with a barn that is occasionally used by the owners, but is never rented out. Gatehouse Oregon efficiently sleeps 12 adults(but is amazing for even two) and is in close proximity to everything, yet feels like its worlds away, tucked into a peaceful river valley shared with a small number of neighbors. With the exception of the Barn out back, this is a DEDICATED guest space (nobody else lives on this acres) so you don't need to think about anything except relaxation and enjoyment of the house and the surroundings.
This property is your ideal location for a workshop, family time or just spending a quiet night with your partner or your own thoughts. Listen to the frogs and the birds, watch the herons and eagles battle for fish, enjoy the outdoor secluded hot tub, cook a gourmet meal in the chefs kitchen and relax in natural vibrance.
EVENT POLICY...We are often asked if we allow events at our property. Our policy is that SMALL events (less than 25 people) are a MAYBE, but we have a couple of requirements. This is a tranquil spot, so it is definitely NOT a party house. Even though the houses are far apart, the sound travels, and we prefer small events (ceremonies, rituals, retreats, etc.), rather than out and out parties (you know, the kind with red solo cups!) We like to keep the property on the quiet side, so more sedate events are a better fit. Secondly, for ALL events, we charge 25.00 per person per day for people who are NOT staying at the house but just visiting for the event. This is to cover all of the extra cleaning, trash removal, and general wear & tear on the house and surrounding property. Weddings may be considered, if they are on the small side, and if they are set for summer or early fall. Auxiliary parking is limited, and the yard can get messy in the rainy season. Nobody likes to slog through the mud in their wedding finery! Lastly, quiet hours are at 11PM. No exceptions. We like our neighbors! Please feel free to contact us to discuss any event, wedding, ceremony, family gathering, or otherwise. THERE IS A GREAT WEDDING VENUE NEAR BY- ASK US!! We would be happy to chat with you about it and hopefully help you to have a beautiful and memorable time in our beautiful home.

We stayed here with our kids and their grandparents, and the property was wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, the home itself is nicely updated and it's stocked with high-quality linens and kitchen items. The hosts were very helpful and responded quickly to our questions. We would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful home with an open floor plan and every amenity you could ask for. Very clean and comfortable, great for large groups or families. Quiet peaceful surroundings yet so close to town. Very happy with our stay, loved the home and would definitely come back!

Thanks Sheryl- loved having you all. Please come back soon!!
We were having some work done on our house and needed a local place to stay. The property was very nice and the management was very responsive. The location is convenient to amenities and highway access.
Bright modern house in beautiful wooded setting setting
This house sits in the woods with a broad lawn and a large deck for dining and entertaining. It was perfect for a family gathering with a well equipped kitchen and bunks for the kids. The property manager was very responsive and helpful. We will stay again when we find ourselves in Portland!
Very relaxing private property, great for relaxing and unwinding or throwing a small party. We held my sisters baby shower at this property and were SO pleased. Great back patio for outdoor entertaining. House was gorgeous, clean and management and owner were so accommodating. Would highly recommend.

Danielle, thanks for the review! You and your guests were awesome!! Please come on back anytime!!
Convenient to Portland, Oregon City and the Columbia River Gorge.
Our family of 3 adults and 3 kids spent 3 nights of great rest in this spacious and beautiful home. After days of visiting other family and sightseeing we came back to a warm gas fire and restful quiet. The waterfall was a nice touch and some of us wished we weren’t so tired because we didn’t get the chance to enjoy the hot tub. We recommend a stay here.

Thanks for the review! Hope you get back here this summer!
The house was perfect! Beautiful hidden location, rolling grassy hills and family friendly. The kitchen had everything you could need and the beds were very comfortable. We loved the views outside of the large windows, the table on the deck got a lot of use as did the ping pong table downstairs. We will be back!!
This is a beautiful property in a safe, quiet neighborhood. The host was welcoming and willing to go the extra mile to provide for our comfort. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed the well designed and clean home. It feels miles away from everything but everything we needed was within a 10 minute drive. Major Portland sights are within a 30 minute drive. We would definitely stay here again.

Tim thank you for the kind review. Back at you, you and your family were awesome!! Anytime you are back in Portland, consider this your PDX home!!
Beautiful home, would definitely stay here again. It was the perfect place and layout for my family to stay. It’s both spacious and cozy. The home is very well done with high quality finishes. My mom and I are very allergic and the house was so clean and we didn’t get any allergies! Yay! The owner and property manager are very helpful nice as well. It was a bit difficult to tell from the pictures but this is the room/bed arrangement: primary bedroom on one side of the house, then up about 5 stairs are three other bedrooms. 1 has queen bunk beds, one has two sets of twin bunk beds and the third has a queen. Comfy beds!
Our family had a great time in the area. The house was an amazing place to come back to for rest and relaxation. We loved the design of the house - the master suite was wonderful and the kids had their side of the house. My daughters utilized the basement for yoga and to dance. We saw a beautiful deer and her baby right outside the front door. We hope to come back!
Such a relaxing, clean place for our two families to gather and make life long memories. Perfectly placed in a serene setting yet accessible to amenities and daytime activities. Well stocked with necessities and modern conveniences. Our kids LOVED playing ping pong downstairs! Dinners on the deck were so conducive to long conversations

Very nice.
I really enjoyed the home, which is so well laid out. We celebrated a family holiday, which included snow on Christmas Eve!
My only issue is that there are stairs and bunk beds, which weren’t the best for my younger grandchildren. Otherwise, the home is a really nice gathering spot and, I imagine, would be great fun in warmer weather.

The property is lovely and the kitchen was well equipped
Unfortunately, it was difficult to find, since the address is on a mailbox, across the street between two others and not easily sighted. Also, the gravel driveway has signs like "beware of dog" and Private Property, so one doesn't know if you should keep going, and once the lovely home is in sight, it has no address on it either...
The master bedroom was glorious, but the other rooms all had bunk beds that were difficult to sleep in if people were getting in and out of them. For older adults, I would not recommend this set-up. Kids may be ok managing around ladders in the middle of the bunk beds, but if you have any physical challenges, this is not the ideal for you. While having individual beds may limit the number of people that can stay, they would definitely be much more comfortable for the wide range of people who would consider this property.
The living room was nice, with a good TV. The outdoor patio in back was also quite lovely. The hot-tub is located under a forest of tree branches, and since the rules say that it really isn't included in the rental, it is not as clean as one would appreciate, but seemed to be in good working order. We would also suggest some operating guidance for the stove; if you are not familiar with convection appliances, it could be a little confusing. Hot pads would also help. So while we really liked the property overall, we encourage the owner to take our comments to heart to improve the overall experience.

Eclipse trip
We rented the house for eclipse viewing in August. Four couples and my daughter absolutely enjoyed the house decor and amenities! There is plenty of room to play games or find a quiet spot to read. (We would have loved a ping pong table in the downstairs room!) Wild blackberries all around the property that were delicious. Outdoor furniture around a nice fire pit. Deck with plenty of shade, BBQ and hot tub. Beds were comfortable. Andy, the owner, was very nice and stopped by with a wonderful bottle of wine from a local winery. Only difficulty we had was with the property management company that consistently lost our rsvp despite full payment and confirmations. Would stay here again!!

Great house outside the city!
The house suited our needs very well. There were 10 adults who stayed at the house. Two sets of queen bunk beds worked out really well, and we had enough smaller guys to sleep in the smaller bunk beds. The kitchen and grill worked really well. The property was beautiful and allowed for easy commuting to downtown Portland and the Columbia River Gorge (the drive to the CRG was about an hour, but the commute was easy). Great place!

Country remoteness within walking distance of Downtown West Linn
Our 10 person family were comfortably accommodated here. I recommend that there be better signage on Johnson Road because the driveway was easy to miss and it was disconcerting to drive up what looked like a private road.

Gorgeous, spacious home, lovely quiet spot in the country
The house is a stunner inside - particularly the kitchen, dining room, living room and master bedroom. Spare and yet comfortable, lots of light thanks to windows everywhere. Everything is very modern and sleek. Really nice kitchen, especially for a rental. Great water pressure in the showers. We were in town for a wedding and it was perfect to have space for all of us. We loved bar seating and dining room area - very congenial spaces to gather and chat. This house has a lot of cooking supplies - condiments, spices, etc. Check before going shopping as the house had many basic needs for our dinners. The weather was pretty rainy so we didn't get to use the exterior furniture but there is a lot of space to hang outside, have a picnic etc. Two of our guests loved having the hot tub available in the evenings to relax. This house is really quiet and well built. We never heard people in the other bedrooms in the evening which is nice. We only watched TV once. It was nice to have Netflix etc, but it was a little confusing to figure out how to just get to regular channels. Great to have the washer/dryer too. The amount bath towels you provide are great.
A couple of notes for the owner: usually houses like this have a binder with some basic info (i.e. how to operate the microwave, the Nest heating system, TV, etc). We figured it out eventually, but some helpful hints would be great. Also, there is no sign at the end of the driveway with your address, only your neighbors'. We went past the driveway multiple times before we finally found it. Please give better instructions about that. Also, for such a large place, it would be nice to have some larger pots and pans to feed a crowd. I suggest adding some nightstands to all the bunk bed rooms. We all had lots of stuff sitting on the floor next to the beds each night. If there was someway to hook up a shelf to the tops of the Queen sized beds, that would be great too. There was no place to put a water glass, a clock or my glasses each night without relying on the person in the bottom bunk.
For guests - note that while this is 2.5 baths, 1.5 baths are on the master bedroom side, while 3 rooms share 1 bath (potentially up to 12 people sharing one shower if you were fully using all the beds - we ended up borrowing the shower from the folks in the Master to even it out). The bunk beds are a bit challenging to get up in to if you are past a "certain age" and clumsy if you have to get up in the middle of the night.

Sydney and I are professionals. She is an architect and I am a venture investor and business person. We are low key, easy people who subscribe to the "live and let live" philosophy. We welcome everyone and If your heart is in the right place, we have a big heart for you. You wont see or hear from us, unless you want to!
Why they chose this property
We bought this house in 2016 because it needed love and attention that the property deserves. We are close by if you need something, but the property is professionally managed. The house sits in a valley along the Tualatin River, just south of Portland with 4 other neighbors in the valley, and 3-4 houses that overlook the value. You hardly notice any of them once you are in the house. We have a vision for the entire valley: near the city, but an escape where one can relax, feel at ease, take a breath and have a deep thought or conversation.
What makes this property unique
This house is private and peaceful, yet near many great amenities! The house is super cozy in the wintertime, but summer is amazing!! Anytime of year, enjoy the outdoor hot tub, the sounds of birds and frogs, spotting eagles, occasional deer and coyote, and relaxing by the firepit.
