Property has an old world charm with a blend of modern day comfort. Within easy access of Stirling/Falkirk attractions it made for a good home base and equally using train transport to Edinburgh proved a superb choice.
Wonderful visit! The lodge was perfect for our stay. Spacious and inviting. Having a place with so many rooms and bathrooms for our party of 8 made everything easier. We loved the peaceful location. Having a small shop across the street was convenient and The Smiddy was a great place to eat or grab groceries, just down the road. Thornhill was centrally located for day trips to many tourist sites.

Thanks very much for your great review, we really appreciate it. So glad you enjoyed your stay!
Thornhill is in a lovely location, easy walking distance to dinner and a small market. Lovely area. Short drive to Stirling and Falkirk. Rooms were large and well appointed. A private bathroom for each of the bedrooms. It was a little tricky determining the wifi password, and which went with which area. Other than that, all was lovely.
Great cottage. Easy access to Stirling and surrounding areas. The four en-suites were a bonus. Kitchen spacious and well equipped. Plenty of space for 8 people

Thank you so much for your great review. We really appreciate it. Come back anytime
Thornhill Lodge was perfect for our family of 7 as a home base for exploration of the area. The house was spacious and comfortable and Ross was attentive to any problems/questions we had. Everyone having their own en suite bathroom was a great plus. The Lion and Unicorn right down the street and the small store directly across the street were a pleasant addition to our visit.
After staying in hotels for nearly two weeks, it was lovely for our party of 8 to spend some time together in this quiet Thornhill home. Proximally located near Stirling castle and Lake Lomond/Trossochs, and we enjoyed the break from the hustle and bustle of St. Andrews and Edinburgh. The home was clean and tidy, the beds were comfortable, and the en-suite bathrooms were critical! Everything as advertised; I would not hesitate to book this property again.
The accommodation was very comfortable and spacious for our traveling group of 6. The location is central for exploring ( we spent time in Stirling, St Andrews, Glasgow and the Loch Lomond area) The Delightful pub in the village served delicious food and felt very welcoming. Highly recommend! There is a quaint, friendly grocery store directly across from the front door. The only “challenge” was the very narrow entrance to the parking area. It is quite tight, but I had read other travelers’ reviews and they had mentioned that they could, indeed, fit through the entrance. Armed with that knowledge, we were confident and we did get through the narrowness into a large
lot. We would happily stay in Thornhill again. Thank you for being part of our amazing trip to Scotland.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, listing accuracy
Thornhill Lodge was very spacious, clean and quiet at night. We enjoyed the layout of the lodge as well as the private courtyard at the back of the property. The location was great for the sites we were visiting during our stay. We appreciated that the host stopped out when we had a few questions. The cons of the lodge were that there is a fairly busy road(during the day) at the front of the lodge that runs through town with some larger trucks during the day. The access drive to the parking at the back of the lodge was crazy narrow and difficult to turn into, even by UK narrow standards. We experienced some issues with the washer/dryer combo at the lodge and did only receive the response from the host to check the manual, however there wasn't a manual for the appliance and we could not find it online as the model number wasn't readily shown. We had counted on doing laundry for clean clothes for the duration of our vacation so this was pretty disappointing. The wifi was not great and the directions appeared to not provide all of the information to improve it. Having never visited Scotland, we were not familiar with some of the other appliances at the lodge and although the listing states to see the manuals at the lodge for assistance, there were few manuals there. We did not contact the host again as the response prior to that had repeatedly been to see the manual or look it up online.
The property was well appointed and we would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Everyone appreciated having their own en-suite bathroom. The bonus living room was great for the kids while the adults gathered in the main living room. The directions weren’t clear for the washer/dryer but we were able to find a manual online. The entry to the parking area in the back in very tight but there was always street parking if you don’t want to drive thru the narrow part. The grocery store across the street was great for food and supplies in a pinch. The location was very convenient for our journey as we visited Glasgow, Stirling, Loch Lomond, and Edinburgh during our stay.
The Inn work perfectly for our group. 2 couples traveling Europe. Husbands were so excited to find the local pub, The Lion and Unicorn, perfect Scottish Pub. Dinner there was delicious as well.
Town store across the street was handy for bread and eggs for breakfast.
Loved it!
This was a great find and accomodated our group really well. Made a great hub for visiting several tourist atrractions. The house file was missing which was unfortunate but didn't have a major impact on our stay. A major plus to have every room en suite.
An excellent property with everything required for a large party. Lovely wee pub along the road which does decent food. Loads to do in the surrounding area with a car. Fully reccomend
Great property with very central location to Stirling, Edinburgh and Lake Lomond.
The property was very comfortable and quiet. The entrance to the parking was tight as we had a VW bus but that was not a problem as there was always parking available in the street opposite. The accomodation was equipped well.
The pub food and service was excellent and the shop opposite was convenient with a good general selection.
We enjoyed our time there thoroughly.
We were very happy with our weeks holiday in Thornhill Lodge, lots of room and very well kept, great having ensuites with each bedroom, saved a lot if chaos :-) We just felt that communication was a little difficult, not due to the owner, as once we got hold of him, he replied promptly and was very helpful, we ourselves found it a bit hard through email on website, after booking, when we wanted to find out other information .
Just one other wee thought, is, in the information folder there could be phone numbers for the activities & restaurants.
Thanks again for a very enjoyable holiday and we would very much recommend the Lodge to other travelers
Cheers Gwenda Meeke
