Duck Cottage, a pet-friendly home-from-home, minutes from the coast
Duck Cottage is a traditional stone built cottage, internally modernised and tastefully decorated to create a warm, charming base close to the restaurants, pubs, shops and attractions of Anstruther. St Andrews and the other coastal villages are only a few minutes drive, with Edinburgh just over an hour away by car. Ideal for couples seeking a romantic hideaway, outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, families looking for a rural retreat, and golfers looking to mark their cards at any one of the many premier courses, including the famous Old Course at St Andrews.
The cottage caters for the occasional Scottish rainy day as well, with free Wifi, an extensive music, film and literary library available to fill the odd moment, and a large HD TV with Freeview HD channels. A well equipped kitchen encourages gourmets to experiment with the wonderful local produce. Unlike many holiday homes, Duck Cottage welcomes well-behaved pets at no extra charge - I want your furry family members to have as good a break away as you!

Great quiet location. The property has everything you need and more besides. Very comfortable stay, and fantastic communication with the owner. Would highly recommend this lovely cottage!
We have stayed before in Duck Cottage so we knew to expect high standards. The cottage is very well equipped and was clean and sparkling. Its peaceful location is perfect and there are coastal and countryside walks on the doorstep. The nearby small towns and villages are wonderful to explore.

Lovely to welcome you back Joan, and hopefully you will be back in 2022!
We've stayed in Duck Cottage before and were delighted to return. The cottage is extremely comfortable and well maintained, and equipped with everything which could be needed. I love the quiet village location from which there are rural and coastal walks, while the nearby villages and small towns offer shops and are great to explore.

So glad to see you back again, and I hope it won't be the last time!
We stayed we washed, we ate, we slept so I guess it did the Job.Area is lovely, accomodation is a quaint old cottage, that doesn’t have modern luxuries but that was OK.Jonathon (The owner) was great in his messages to me and I have no doubt he is a nice guy.Duck Cottage did the job for us and was a fair price for accomodation in a very upmarket location.
A cosy cottage nestled in a place perfect for exploring the East Neuk of Fife.
An easy process will certainly consider booking again. Thank you

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Beautiful old cottage opposite the old Kirk with a tower built in the 15th century. As are all the old villages in East Neuk on the Fife coast, it is a quiet, picturesque & peaceful. Cottage was very clean, all amenities provided including a carton of milk in the fridge & a packet of tea biscuits.
Lovely comfortable cottage and very well maintained weather was kind so managed some fabulous coastal walks and saw an abundance of different birds .
Admired all the recycling bins as not many places do that and it is something I am passionate about .
Loved all the travelling books as now planning my next adventure .
Thank you from Sally and Daisy (dog!)

So happy you and Daisy had such a nice time at Duck Cottage. Come back any time!
We enjoyed the homely feeling of Duck Cottage, Kilrenny is ideally placed a short drive or walk to Anstruther. The cottage was very well laid out, with instructions for any appliances. Particularly enjoyed Jonathan’s fine photography of the local area - they’re all in the same black frame, signatured, dotted around the cottage - as well as the extensive DVD collection for night viewing. Some of our family visited the local church across the road for Sunday service, everyone was very friendly as you’d expect of such community.
A lovely cottage in Kilrenny. The owner answered all queries promptly, the cottage is clean and comfortable. A welcome pack including milk, tea, coffee and biscuits was waiting for us. We would have appreciated more than half a loo roll though!
The village itself is lovely; peaceful and quiet although as there is no shop or pub you do have to make the short trip to Anstruther to get essentials. All in all a lovely base for an excellent holiday in a wonderful part of the country. Thank you Jonathan.

Great little cottage very cosy, comfortable and well equipped
Brilliant location as base for walking the Fife coastal path. Good local amenities in Anstruther and surrounding areas and lovely Andrews just up the road.
Fascinating visits to Fisheries museum (Anstruther) and St Andrews preservation trust museum both give good insights into the areas history. Missed out on the secret bunker though arrived too late on the day we visited.
Terrific sea views great walks quaint harbours generally a lovely area to visit with plenty to do.
We have had many holidays in Scotland over the years usually in the highlands and around locks, it was a nice change to experience a seaside holiday this time.
We also had great weather very little rain on the Sunday that lasted about an hour and then again just as we were leaving the following Saturday.
The only downside is that we were just a little out of season so quite a few places were closed or closed quite early but on the plus side it meant that we didn't have to contend with large crowds parking issues and not being able to get into places that were open.
All in all a great holiday great accommodation lots to do both inside and outside activities great food and drink would definitely like to visit again.
Should also mention the extensive collection of DVD's and CD's in the cottage which made for cosy evenings in as it got dark around 6:30ish

About the host
Hosted by Jonathan Anderson
My works keeps me overseas, so when I'm not here, Duck Cottage provides a happy based for couples and small families to enjoy this peaceful and picturesque corner of Scotland
Why they chose this property
I hope you find Duck Cottage a homely and comfortable place to stay. If you prefer the less personal, antiseptic, corporate holiday let, then Duck Cottage probably isn't for you! Kilrenny is very quiet too, meaning you have a proper break away from it all, interrupted perhaps only by the Kirk's bell chiming on the hour - not through the night though!
What makes this property unique
The price you pay includes everything at Duck Cottage - utlities, wifi internet, linen, towels, and no extra charges for well-behaved pets.
