We so enjoyed our stay at Hillary’s place. She was a very helpful and responsive host with great recommendations on hikes and meals. We hiked the Croagh Patric hill which is the hill in the pictures and walked the nearby beaches. The house was a wonderful stay. Clean and beautiful.
Beautiful spot to relax and unwind! Hostess Hilary is fantastic and very helpful with anything you may need!

We spent one of the best holidays ever here. Delightful spacious accommodation, welcoming and aesthetic. Hilary and Felix are excellent hosts, non interfering but always available if needed. We can't rate this too highly.

Thank you so much for you wonderful review . It was such a pleasure to host you both .
Our time in Westport was amazing. Walking distance to the beach, a short drive to Westport (a darling town - Westport House Tour is a must), and dinner at The Tavern (great food and atmosphere). Hillary was a wonderful hostess, the property was well appointed, funky (loved the spiral staircase to the loft as a workspace (we used as workout space - yoga), and had all the amenities required. We would definitely recommend Hillary’s property - a great stay!

A great choice of accommodation in a terrific location. The view of Croagh Patrick is stunning. The apartment has everything you need. A bit tight in the kitchen in terms of bench space but totally workable. Loved it.
We had an amazing stay. The apartment is very cosy and ideal for a couple. The view is stunning (if not spoiled by weather). Hilary is a wonderful host, very welcoming and making sure you have a great stay. Her ideas for local excursions off the beaten track were very useful. Highly recommended!

Thank you Mauro for you great review. It was a pleasure to meet and to host you both . Delighted of course that you enjoyed your stay in the apartment and that you really enjoyed Westport .
Charming apartment with all the amenities. Our 5 days were spent exploring the beautiful area, Westport, Achill Island, the Knock Shrine and the Dooluogh Valley. Hilary is charming and accommodating and kept us stocked with firewood and peat for the fireplace. We definitely recommend!!
We'd a lovely week. The host couldn't have set us up better, and there was no need to be in touch during our stay. Recommending a trip to Clare Island, and doing the purple loop walk there. Also the shorter Killeen-Killadoon coast loop for its great views. The house has everything you need and a fabulous view of the Reek.

Nice place for 2 to stay and visit Westport area
Stayed a week, convenient to town and areas nearby
Great to visit Achill Island loved traveling up Wild Atlantic Way
Short walk, to beach.
Host was available but unobtrusive. Showed unit and offered advice to area.
No problems with unit and stay
Careful if you want to walk to the nearest pub, there isn’t a footpath all the way. But that’s a minor detail considering everything else is absolutely perfect.
Everything about the apartment was as good as we had hoped. We were very comfortable for our week of residence. After a friendly welcome on arrival, we did not see or hear another human at the property for the whole week. The location, with the beautiful mountain at the front (when not too cloudy) and a five minute walk to the beach from the door, cannot be beaten. Best of all was the sound of silence (punctuated only by the occasional sheep).

Thank you so much for your wonderful review .
We are so lucky to have the mountain to the front and the sea to the back , it is indeed very special . Thank you for being such a wonderful guest and hopefully you will come back again to us .
Best regards Hilary
Arrived to be met by the owner who is a very lovely lady.We were shown around the property with instructions about heating operation etc,The property was compact, but ideal for a couple who wished to explore the coast and islands of Mayo. The furnishings were slightly tired as if they were family heirlooms. The owner's husband was an artist and his work was very evident throughout the property. There is a small patio /deck area where you can have breakfast overlooking the incredible sight of Crosby Patrick , Irelands holy mountain. This is a sight of pilgrimage and is well worth the fairly arduous climb to see the magnificent views over the sea and small islands.Truly a magical place.

Hi Jane,
thank you for your great review and we are delighted that you really enjoyed the view from your apartment .
Just to mention that we had our furniture ordered specially for the apartment and they are not heir looms as they are quite new in fact .
Our guests have commented how cosy the apartment is , but thank you again for your comments .
A wonderful host(ess) and a cosy nest of a place with inspired art work and verdant garden giving onto a magnificent view of the 'Reek' and within close walking distance of the scenic Betra Strand. Westport close enough for visiting friends and shopping, but this nest is far enough away to provide dark skies and a totally silent night. Comfortable bed and small but handy kitchen. If you are fit go on and climb the mountain you can climb it from here. But if temptation prevails, relax on the sunny patio deck and sample whatever you cook or imbibe whilst drinking in the fabulously clear air.
What a hidden gem, the unit was wonderful, fully stocked kitchen, clothes washer, lovely and comfortable upstairs sitting area. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom had heated floor. Our Hostess Hilary was superb, explained everything at check in, brought flowers around, excellent recommendations for sightseeing and places to dine. As we were leaving she came over to say good bye and we chatted for another 45min. Very pleasant and helpful. Felix, Hilary’s husband is an artist, his work is displayed in the apartment. We really liked and enjoyed his displayed pieces. Wonderful stay, Super Hosts, Thank You Hilary and Felix

Thank you Manuala for you review . We take your review very seriously . Firstly we do have hard water as we live under Croagh Patrick mountain and we supply a water filter for that very reason . We are getting a new water supply form the town but it has not been installed as yet but they are working on it . Also you only mentioned that you had back problems after check in . The couch is new and firm and we did offer some extra support , but you did not respond . The apartment is cleaned by our housekeeper and we have 5 x reviews mostly and our guests are very happy .
We are sorry of course that the apartment did not suit your needs .
Alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert

About the host
Hosted by Hilary
I am Dublin born and love to travel, sail and ski. Also like reading and really old romantic movies in b/w and music. I really enjoy to meet interesting people and travellers. Most of all I love Mayo and Clew Bay for its spectacular wildness and adventure.
Why they chose this property
Architect designed property which we built in 2001. Spectacular location on the Bertra Strand Peninsular under the Holy Mountain of Croagh Patrick which is an extinct volcano. Westport has been voted the best place to live in Ireland by the Irish Times and is the adventure sports, cycling (Greenway) and fishing location. Going West on the Wild Atlantic Way there are surfing beaches nearby and ferries to the Islands from Louisburgh.
What makes this property unique
Amazing Panoramic Views of Croagh Patrick from the sun deck. Enjoy spectacular sunsets on Bertra Strand of Clew Bay and its islands. Property is on the Greenway extension from Croagh Patrick which means you can walk or cycle to Croagh Patrick approx. 1 km and the village of Murrisk with 2 Pubs with Food/Restaurant. Quiet private road location. Only minutes walk from the beach of Bertra with sand dunes. Close to the quaint harbour town of Westport and Louisburgh with its many surfing beaches and Old Head with its ancient oak forest.
