This is a beautifully located bungalow situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. This spacious property consists of 3 double bedrooms, 2 large reception rooms, a kitchen, a modern fitted bathroom and an additional shower room. The master bedroom and front living room overlook the ocean and the rear of the property has open rural views stretching to the mountains and the nearby Rockfleet, or Carrickahowley, Castle. A few minutes’ walk along the sea front will take you to this 16th century castle, which was once the home of the Irish pirate queen, Grace O’Malley, or Granuaile. Also within easy walking distance along the sea front is Roigh Pier with a small harbour of local fishing boats. Fishing and sight-seeing trips can be arranged from here. The immediate area provides excellent walking opportunities, including the Furnace lakes, Shramore and Letterkeen forest and the Nephin mountain range. Both stylish and cosy, this bungalow is perfect for couples, families and groups.

Tranquil bayside stay in Mayo

Comfortable property in excellent scenic location on Clew Bay with convenient distances by car to nearby shopping dining attractions etc The effort that went into modernizing the main full bathroom can be put into the 2nd bathroom to make it more useful esp the showerhead. Kitchen is well equipped and can be even better with some cosmetic upgrades such as a new sink All in all a practical house for a tranquil stay

Nice property but with shortcomings

Fitst impression when entering was a musty smell. We also had issues with the front door lock. We had no hot tap water. The "caretaker" whilst "resetting" the hot water appeared non plus, couldnt wait to leave and didn't explain the procedure when a couple of days later we had no hot water again. Glasses needed washing before use as one of the cupboards smelt of Deep Heat: for some reason glass was kept in the same cupboard as medicines

Zunächst soll erwähnt werden, dass das Haus sehr gut ausgestattet ist: großer neuer Fernseher, Apple TV, Sound-Bar, sehr viel Spielzeug und sogar ein Brotbackautomat war vorhanden. Die Lage ist klasse und im Kühlschrank waren sogar bereits Milch, Eier für uns da; Toastbrot gab es auch. Die Heizung hat auch planmäßig funktioniert und es war schön warm. Brennmaterial für den Kamin gab es auch. Und nun kommt das Aber: Es war leider nicht (überall) sauber und in vielen Räumen riecht es schimmelig. Es gab viele Spinnweben, unter den Betten lag Staub, unter unserer Matratze war Sand. Die Stühle im Eingangsbereich, die hier links und rechts der Tür zu sehen sind, sind kaputt. Doch am schlimmsten war der Geruch. Wir mussten daheim auch die ungetragene Kleidung waschen, weil sie so unangenehm gerochen hat, und auch die Koffer lüften. Es war nicht schön, nach einem Ausflug ins Ferienhaus zu kommen. Wir haben uns wegen des Geruchs und der nicht überall vorhandenen Sauberkeit nicht wohl gefühlt; auch das Kochen im Haus vermieden. Und das, obwohl ich den Gastgeber bereits Wochen vor unserer Reise geschrieben habe, wie wichtig uns Sauberkeit ist und wir uns eine ordentliche Unterkunft erhoffen. Sehr schade.

We had a lovely stay at the house in Rockfleet. The location is really the star attraction, so peaceful and beautiful. The house is clean and tidy with a well equipped kitchen. Fantastic walks all around the area, including right from the door of the house. Located on a very quiet road with a small pier a short walk from the house and the beautiful castle right next door.

Family Visit

The setting and location can not be beaten, The facillities were also very good. Theres plenty of space and you'll find everything you could want, including two comfortable and spacious lounges both with smart TV's including Netflix, Apple etc. There is a downside in that the whole property is looking a bit tired and is in need of some TLC. Also it really needs a deep clean and dusting. With a bit of time and money spent, this could easily be an outstanding 5 star holiday let.

The property provided us with everything we needed. While there may have been small things that would have improved our stay further we were perfectly comfortable and the location was wonderful, whatever the weather. It was also well situated to explore every corner of Co Mayo, everything being within an hour or so drive

Ivor’s place is great. Pictures don’t do it justice…

Just stayed at Ivor‘s house on the shores of Clew Bay and it was brilliant. The photos in the listing don’t really do it justice as the space available to you is huge. All the facilities are spot-on. There were a few goodies for us in the fridge when we arrived and they even put up a Xmas tree as we were there for Xmas. Communication was great. The surrounding area is beautiful. Lots of history and lots of places to go walking, lots of history. Highly recommended.Suits family’s, and those with kids too… Thanks Ivor.

I big house with plenty of space. Everything there which is needed. Within a shourt time we feel like at home. Beautiful view from front (sea) and bach ( green gras and sheeps). We recommend the the house very much. Owner and housekeeper are very friendly. Cantact per E-mail ! Check in with key-box without problems and perfect description of the way to the house. A few things have to be renovated or replaced, but that doesnt matter for us. Nice fireplace ! Washing machine, dryer and dishwasher in the house. Comfortable beds ! Wonderful peaceful retreat

Ivory’s house is a perfect peaceful hideaway with fantastic views! The property is fenced all the way around except for the driveway which has a cattle grate making it a very safe place for my dog to run free without worry. From beautiful tidal walks to enjoying sitting in the warm sunporch, we had a lovely stay! Hoping to come again. Highly recommend.

Fabulous coastal stay

The property is large and was ideally arranged for us. Coming in from the beach or a walk into a utility area so the wet kayaking gear could be removed and hung up. We were able to put the dog crate in the next room, plenty of space so she went straight in from outside. We took a ramp for the one step at the back so my wheelchair got in. There are however 2 steps from the lounge up to the bedrooms, so not fully wheelchair accessible. I was able to cope with the 2 steps Both lounges have comfortable reclining sofas. Excellent having 2 lounges if you are a larger group. The kitchen was very well stocked, and brilliant supply of food, cooking bits and pieces. One of the best i have been to. The master bedroom has a superb view and for me to be able to rest or stay in bed and see the bay was fantastic. All the bedrooms looked good, though we only used one. Like any property this size it is possible to find an area that is ready for some tlc, but overall a well maintained property, large gardens right on the shoreline, superb views all ways round a fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend for everyone but especially if you want to use the bay for boating of any description. Lovely rock pools full of life and access to the sea all day. There is not a sandy beach but plenty of access points to the water. I loved kayaking round to the castle and around the bay. Not a huge amount of wildlife, but we did see herons and egrets one week was too short
