House and Barn With Pool Between Cordes-sur-ciel & Albi
Our house, built of white stone, is situated in a small bastide village near Cordes sur Ciel (one of the most beautiful mediaeval villages in France and in 2014 voted the French Village of the Year) in the middle of the Gaillac wine region. The property, comprising a renovated house and a converted barn linked together with a games room in between, is set around a courtyard with a large covered terrace. A further large terrace overlooks the garden. It is ideal for a large family or two or more families holidaying together as it provides two kitchens, two large sitting rooms, six bedrooms and a games room, giving plenty of living space and a large garden. The pool is 12 x 5 metres, which works well for a larger group of people. The house and barn have been tastefully converted and equipped to a very high standard. The property has been awarded a 4 star classification by the Tarn Tourist Board (Comité Départemental du Tourisme du Tarn) to accommodate 12 people. However, the twin room in the barn is large and so, if there are children in the group, we are able to accommodate up to 14 people (see below for sleeping arrangements). In summer, the barn, which opens onto both the spacious outside terrace and the covered terrace, tends to be used as the main living area but large groups sometimes find it useful to have a further sitting room and kitchen. Ramps can be requested to provide step-free access to the ground floor of the barn including ground floor bedroom & shower room. However the shower cubicle is not step-free. Please contact us to discuss any access needs in detail.
The Old House Downstairs in the old house is a large beamed sitting room with a dining area seating 6 to 8 people. For winter rentals there is an open fire. This room opens onto a courtyard, with a covered terrace which is ideal for eating outdoors and is fully equipped with table and chairs as well as some loungers for reading in the shade. The sitting room leads directly off the kitchen which is also a large room with plenty of work surfaces and an island which serves as a breakfast bar with 4 stools, and also a small table seating 4. The kitchen has a 5-burner gas hob, an electric oven and a microwave. It has a fridge-freezer and dishwasher and it is equipped with cooking pots and pans for everyday living rather than just as a holiday home. Upstairs there are three bedrooms: a double bedroom with en-suite shower room, a further double bedroom and a twin bedroom. There is also a full family bathroom.
The Barn The heart of the barn is a large main room (12 x 5 metres) with sitting, dining and kitchen areas, which opens onto its own large terrace with a table and chairs under a shady pergola. If required, a group of 12 can sit down together for a meal either inside or outside. From the terrace there are views of the garden and pool and you can barbecue with lovely sunsets. The barn also has doors on to the courtyard covered terrace which can be used when the whole property is rented. There are three bedrooms: a ground floor double bedroom with en-suite shower room and two further bedrooms upstairs (one double and one with two single beds) and a full bathroom. Two additional mattresses, a cot and a travel cot can be provided in the upstairs twin bedroom if required to accommodate more children. The kitchen has a 4-burner hob, an electric oven and a microwave. It has a fridge-freezer and dishwasher and, like the old house, is fully equipped with cooking pots and pans.
Other features Each sitting room has a TV receiving French channels. In addition, French, some UK and international satellite free-to-air channels can be received in the barn. There is also a DVD player and a basic hi-fi system in each sitting area. Wifi is available in most of the property. There is a reasonable selection of English-language books for most tastes and some games, music and DVDs. Between the Old House and the Barn are a games room with table football and some children's toys and a utility room with a washing machine, ironing boards and irons. There is a tumble-dryer in the garage, accessible from inside the house. Each side of the property has its own entrance and there is parking for at least 4 cars. The garden is 2500 sq. metres with grass, trees and shrubs. The 12m x 5m swimming pool, with pool toys for children, is available from mid-May to mid-September. There is an outside shower room and WC available in summer.

Thank you so much for your positive review. We are so pleased that we were able to accommodate you and your friends at short notice and we should be delighted to welcome you back.
Despite the heatwave (more than 40 degrees) on some days, we enjoyed the house very much. Very spacious, lots of pots, pans and cutlery. Nice swimmingpool. One small tip for the owner: the number of poolbeds and parasols are rather limited

We are delighted that you enjoyed the house and pool and coped so well with the heat. Luckily we had provided extra fans!
We are sorry that you thought that there were not enough parasols and "poolbeds". There are three large parasols, a couple of sunbeds, a recliner and deckchairs. Some people bring up other recliners from the terrace. Thank you for your 5* rating over all - much appreciated. We would be happy to host you all again.
Fabulous two week stay in rural France in a beautiful apportioned property with lots of space indoor and outdoor and everything you would need for a perfect holiday. Dining made easy with two well equipped kitchens and space to eat outside. Our 4 grandchildren spents hours in the outside pool and played lots of games in the large garden. Well situated for visits to Albi, Gaillac, Cordes and Laquapie. We had lovely outings to Aqualand Saint Cyprien, Aqua Parc d'Aigueleze, Parc Adventure St. Antonin and one just outside Cordes plus a 13km kayak course at chamin du Batan, all within reasonable travelling time from the house. We had two tremendous evenings out at Chateau Bouscaillous drinking wine, eating crepes and listening to live music. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming and the children joined in the dancing.Sara gave us lots of help in planning activities and Chris made us very welcome and showed us all we needed to know about the house.Beautiful area with nice walks and definitely everything you need for a special holiday.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Noailles and found so many interesting activities. Thank you for being such good guests.
Large house in village location with lovely large pool which was great as the weather was very warm all week. Good base for Cordes sur Ciel and Albi. Good walking/running area (if you set off early). Very enjoyable.
The villa was exactly as listed and more, offered all that we needed, and in a great location* (*as long as you have a car!).
More than that, our host Tom and his daughter Sara who handled our booking, were incredibly helpful, sending us plenty of information on things to see and do in the area and just generally being very helpful.
We had a wonderful stay and couldn't recommend it more highly.
Maison très agréable même à 14 ..
Le jardin est très beau et les cuisines très bien équipées.
Hôtes très réactifs et sympathiques dans leurs messages .

We loved our stay at Sara and Tom’s lovely country house. This is already our second stay in their beautiful home located in the heart of the countryside, ideal for lovers of nature and of magnificent sunsets and sunrises over vine or sunflower fields. Sara and Tom are professional and always very responsive.

magnifique endroit

incredible from start to finish
From the word go everything about our stay was perfect. Communication prior to and post booking (with lots of questions from me) was exceptional with Sara going above and beyond to ensure our stay was as stress free as possible. Her directions from the airports (both Rodez and Toulouse) were spot on.
My brief was to find a large holiday Gite in the South of France to celebrate my father's 70th and sister's 40th birthday. The party consisted of 10 adults, 3 children, a toddler and a baby. I really struggled to find a property suitable for such a large party - then I came across this.
Having viewed the pics on this site and having been sent the floor plan by Sara, I was confident that there was enough room here for us all - without being in each other's pockets. I did have concerns about enough space for us all to dine together alfresco, BUT when we arrived, we were blown away at how big this place is - both inside and out. The outside space was exceptional with the choice of two dining areas - fully kitted out with tables and chairs with cushions & table cloths all provided. The swimming pool was beautiful and just a stones throw from the house. We spent the majority of our time here. There was also a toilet and shower room which was accessed from the outside, a large grassy area - we played lots of games of boules here and also a swing and slide set - perfect for the younger kids. The house exterior was safe, private and with room for our 4 cars.
The interior exceeded our expectation - large kitchens, sitting rooms, playroom for the kids, laundry room. They have thought of absolutely everything. Two cots sources for us!The kitchen is really well equipped, plastic glasses provided for the pool, and everything we needed to cook large family meals. Great Webber BBQ too.
Sara was super helpful with generous with info. There's a massive Leclerc supermarket in Gaillac about 17k from the house. Food heaven!
Sara arranged a tour and tasting in the local vineyard for us. €7.50 and we were there for about 4 hours. The wine was superb, the tour personal and best of all - it's 200m from the house. I also asked Sara to recommend a restaurant for a special birthday meal. Again nothing was too much trouble, she visited 4 places, sent me links and menus and then made the booking for me (with a special birthday dessert). I honestly can't recommend this property enough, spacious, well thought out, ideal for large families like ours. Great memories, thank you.

Thank you for this lovely review. We could see at once that you had all had a wonderful time when we arrived on Saturday morning just in time for your departure. The children were so eager to tell us about everything, as was your father. Thank you for sending us photos of everyone eating together on the terrace. We’re so pleased that all of your careful planning worked out so well.
It was excellent that the vineyard tour at Chateau Bouscaillous was so successful. Just to clarify, for future visitors, the 7.50€ included lots of cheese and charcuterie with the wine tasting at the end of the tour. Also, for others, sadly Ryanair no longer flies to Rodez from Stansted but only from Dublin, which suited your group perfectly.
It was delightful to meet you after all the correspondence (!) and we’d be happy to welcome you all, or indeed any of you, back again in the future.

MERCI !

Sunny week in quiet location
Very well equipped, spacious barn for a family of 5. Lovely heated pool which got lots of use and a spacious garden for playing boules. Spacious terrace for eating outside in the shade. Great tranquil location but only ten minutes from the lovely town of Cordes sur Ciel and half an hour from the great city of Albi.
A warm and helpful welcome from the owners who were available to answer queries.
The only improvement would be a couple of air conditioning units upstairs as it was rather hot to sleep even with the fans provided, although downstairs was lovely and cool.
Would recommend to friends and family, thank you.

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in our house in Noailles and that you liked the area so much. We are sorry that you found it hot upstairs at night and wish that you’d mentioned it to us at the time. You were with us at almost the hottest time in an unusually hot summer (your actual date of arrival was 1 August) when the temperature outside did not drop very much at night, called in French a “canicule”. We find that keeping the shutters and windows closed in the daytime when it is so hot really helps as the windows are all double-glazed and the shutters are also lined. We’re sorry that the fans, usually effective, were not enough on this occasion. Thank you, nevertheless, for recommending the house to family and friends. Best wishes, Sara & John

Totally Excellent
This property is really excellent both for couples or a group seeking a very quite location - but near to the midi-pyrenees adtonishing sites - as well as for a family, due to the very large garden and playing ground. And the pool (which we didn't use because we were out most of the day.
You'll find a very small village, fully equipped house (everything presented in the site is there!) and very near treasures like Saint Antonin, Cordes, Albi, Najac and more.
Sara and John will do their best, just ask.
Really hope to return one of these days!

What a lovely place to stay!
We had a lovely stay at this converted barn which is furnished as a 'home from home' throughout. Jon and Sara who were on site for part of our stay were helpful and friendly and have obviously thought carefully about how to make their place really welcoming.
The pool was the best we have found during our stays at other places in France and we had the added extra of fruit and vegetables from the garden. We would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

This gorgeous house in South West France belongs to me and my sisters. When the family is away we make the whole property available for rental and it is ideal for two or more families. Sometimes we can welcome guests to the Barn - an almost self-contained part of the property.
