About this property

Mead Flat in the Heart of Dawlish with Great Sea Views 150m from the Beach

Mead Flat is a large top floor 2 bedroom flat in a Victorian property in the heart of Dawlish. In 2018 it was completely refurbished to a very high standard. The accommodation comprises of a double bedroom with en-suite; a large second bedroom which has a double, a single and a single sofa bed; the main bathroom; a large living room with kitchen and dining area. We use this flat as our holiday home with our 4 boys so it has everything you need for a great holiday. Everything is within a very short walking distance whether it be playing on the beach, running about on the lawn, browsing the local shops and restaurants, or jumping on the train up to Exeter or down to Penzance . Whilst there isn't parking at the property, you can park in the train car park (for a daily fee) or up the hill 5 minutes away for free. Once we are there we don't use the car for days.
It is also a great base to explore the Devon coastline as it is next to the south coast path, and as it is not far from the M5, it only takes us just over an hour to get there from the M4/M5 junction.

Please Note VRBO operate a non-refund policy if cancelled within 30 days of the stay. If you cannot stay at the property due to a national lockdown, or a local lockdown in the Dawlish area then we will manually offer a full refund.

Well appointed unit in a great location. Nice to have a full size kitchen and spacious lounge plus two full size bedrooms ( one with en suite).

MEAD FLAT
We stayed for a week the property is in a good location easily accessible by train or bus also you can travel around to visit other locations from this property very easily there’s a bus stop right outside and train station across the road good views out of the living room window the property itself was clean except a dishwasher full of dishes on arrival ,paintwork needs a little attention the shower cubicle door does not shut well the shower seal needs replaced also quite dirty also a tiny shower mat for standing on does not mop up the water escaping from the worn shower seal both the ensuite bathroom and the main bathroom had a very strong smell of what I would think would be a drain problem not nice at all the property was on the top floor the bonus was the view the downfall was getting 2 medium suitcases up all the flights of stairs really struggled to get them up and down stairs ,mostly has everything you need for a holiday no hairdryer which would have been useful especially when travelling long distance without a car otherwise well equipped ,very spacious overall a nice place to stay nothing massively wrong with this property just a few minor problems that could be easily be resolved except I’d say for the very noisy neighbours continuous loud music music playing in one of the properties day and night until past 12 midnight daytime didn’t matter to us but after midnight yes it did so not a quiet place to stay no consideration for there neighbours which is a shame .

Fantastisk opphold
Har bare gode ord å si om leiligheten. Midt i smørøyet, rent og fint, alt vi trengte og bra kommunikasjon med verten. Dawlish er en fantastisk plass å reise på ferie. Stranden var helt topp. Vi kunne ikke hatt det bedre i forhold til leiligheten vi valgte. Alt var i nærheten, og den var ikke bråkete, selv om vi bodde midt i sentrum. Alle i familien synes det var helt topp. Også deilig å ha kort avstand til gåturen mellom Dawlish og Dawlish Warren.

Perfect
The location of the property is ideal, just across the road from the railway station and the beach, overlooking the lawns. Check in was very simple with straightforward instructions provided and the property was as described. We had no issues at all. I will admit that I was slightly worried about the number of stairs, having had a knee injury previously, but it was fine and unless your mobility is very restricted then most people won't have a problem, and the view from the living room made it worth the small climb! We had a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to recommend this property.

We live in Wiltshire and use this property as our holiday home for us and our 4 boys. We have spent a long time refurbishing this property to get it to the standard we expect in a holiday home including decent beds! Being only a short distance from Exeter it is really quick to get to if we fancy a weekend away.

Why they chose this property

What we love about this property is it has everything you need within a very short walk. You can play on the beach or simply look out the window at the sea. There is full facilities to cook as you would at home, but with such a range of take-aways and restaurants around, you don't need to. There is also a micro-climate in Dawlish which means it is generally warmer than the rest of the UK, I suspect it is due to it being protected by the hills. The only time you get bad weather is if it comes in off the sea, and then it is spectacular!

What makes this property unique

We were down on a hot bank holiday Monday playing on a half empty beach to get back and find that on other beaches there was standing room only!!
With the train station being a short level walk away we are happy for our teenage boys to come an join us later or leave early via the train, which means they can come away with us but still get back for events they have planned.
