We recently spent three nights in beautiful Fish Cottage. From the moment you enter the bright and airy family room- with furniture that looks good AND is comfortable (a combination we’ve found hard to come by in vacation rentals)- you know you are truly in for a treat! We enjoyed our down time in front of the fireplace (no matter the temperature or time of day- it was so nice to turn it on and off with the flip of a switch, and to set it at its lowest setting just for the visual appeal), and enjoyed the quiet, calming environment of the cottage. Being an end unit provides extra privacy, quiet, and natural light. While the cottage is located within walking distance- and cycling distance, which we thoroughly enjoyed on the two bikes provided- of some of our favorite restaurants, eating in was also a pleasure. We enjoyed a cocktail out on the balcony, whipped up dinner in the well equipped kitchen, and dined in the charming eating area. The beautifully remodeled bathroom further enhanced the peaceful-retreat experience. Both bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. I had forgotten to bring my yoga mat, but was thrilled to find one (as well as a basket of soaps and shampoos, which I’d also forgotten) in the second bedroom. That bedroom was a perfect space for my home yoga practice. The master bedroom had everything we needed, from a nice big bed with super soft sheets to a wardrobe with plenty of hangers to the home office area in the walk-in closet.
Susan is an incredibly thoughtful and gracious hostess. She answered all our questions thoroughly before, during, and after booking and went above and beyond to make sure the bikes would meet our needs. She was happy to give restaurant advice (even after our stay had ended, for our next visit) and was quick to answer questions. Her cheerful, positive approach is evident in everything from the thorough property guide on the coffee table to the welcome goodies in the kitchen to the holiday card and candy canes hanging from stocking holders. She has truly gone above and beyond in anticipating guests’ needs, with thoughtful touches like chargers found throughout the cottage and rugs placed on the hardwood floors beside the bed so that guests’ feet aren’t greeted by a cold floor upon awakening. In addition, she clearly loves her cottage. It is decorated with such tasteful detail and care, right down to the pretty knobs on the bathroom vanity.
We left Fish Cottage reluctantly, and with very grateful hearts.
