Luxury barn in Peak District National Park - peaceful with great views
The 17th Century Farm and Barn are built of local pink stone in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Our scenic rural location is surrounded by acres of fields and woods - our only neighbours being sheep, wild birds, and our rescue hens. Perfect for large families or groups of friends to enjoy a healthy break away from it all with clean fresh air, starry skies, no passing cars or people. There are many beautiful walks from the doorstep – one favourite is a circular route along the nearby spectacular Roaches ridge via picture-perfect Wincle and its excellent country pub the Ship Inn.
High Ridge Barn is architect designed and recently renovated throughout to provide luxurious modern and comfortable self-catering accommodation with superb views across Swythamley valley.
The enormous double-height barn has 4 double bedrooms sleeping up to 8 people plus babes in arms, 2 of which can be arranged as large singles or king/super king sized beds. 3 bathrooms mean no queues for the loo! The living/dining room with Scandi log-burner leads directly from the new high-end kitchen equipped with Neff appliances and is so well equipped our guests tell us we have things here they didn’t know they needed! Everything from super-fast broadband to 1,000 thread bed linen to fluffy towels, bathrobes, slippers and logs down to an oyster shucker – High Ridge Barn has it all.
The Barn has private half-acre landscaped dog-secure gated and fenced gardens and parking for up to 5 cars. There’s a large wood-fired outdoor sauna, a BBQ, secure bike storage, and a dog grooming cabin with all the mod cons. Up to 4 pets are very welcome.
For special occasions please ask for details of our Celebration Packages. Fantastic bespoke cakes from an expert local baker, wonderful flowers courtesy our skilled and creative florist, bunting, balloons - all ready for your arrival. At Christmas the Barn is decorated with a real tree, dog-safe decorations, oodles of warm white fairy lights, illuminated wreaths and lots of festive Scandi decorations and LED candles.
Leek is a mere 15-minute drive away and has a great selection of supermarkets and award-winning restaurants, takeaways and deliveries.
If you do need to work without disturbing the rest of your group, we'll set up one of the four bedrooms as an office with a desk, Anglepoise lamp, colour printer and a Herman Miller ergonomic chair. Zoom and Teams meetings are easy courtesy the superfast broadband.

Simply WOW! What amazing hosts, with freshly baked bread, eggs and a fabulous welcome hamper on arrival, all in an outstanding home with every comfort you can imagine (and more) thought of, set in an area of tranquility and peace, with stunning views and walks right on the doorstep. We just can't recommend Rosie and Rob and their beautiful barn highly enough. Thank you for having us and making us feel soooo welcome. We very much looking forward to returning.
From start to finish, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The barn has everything you could possibly need surrounded by stunning countryside. Rosie & Bob are excellent hosts.

It was great having you all to stay and are glad you enjoyed the Barn and our local scenic area. This part of the Peak District is, as you say, a hidden gem. It's nice to be far from the madding crowds, and you're more than welcome here any time. Pats and Irish Rover treats to Isla! All the very best, Rosie & Rob
This place is really gorgeous. Thoughtfully put together and everything you need already catered for.
Everything was made so easy by the owners and we had a truly relaxing and enjoyable time in this luxurious home. We would definitely come back here for a peaceful family break again.

We had a fabulous time at High Ridge. Beautiful interior, the most comfortable beds and the best equipped kitchen I've ever seen. Rob and Rosie have thought of everything and are great hosts. We enjoyed a daily sauna after walking the local hills: highly recommended!

Thanks for the lovely review. We enjoyed having you here and glad you had such a good time. Looking forward to seeing you and SO CUTE Chilli again!
We all thoroughly enjoyed this fabulous barn as a base for the preparation for our daughter's wedding. We had a wonderful relaxing time there amid the busy schedule. The barn itself is amazing, so well equipped and set in a beautiful location.
The hosts, Rosie and Rob were great too, with suggestions for exploring the area and helping make the stay memorable.
Would love to return at some point when we could spend more time walking and exploring.

Thanks Steve, we enjoyed having you all here! Know you were way too busy to enjoy the scenery - it'll be here for you next time! Very best wishes, Rosie & Rob
Perfect location for walking and 5 star facilities for dogs, especially if they get wet or muddy.
Accommodation is high quality and well equipped and we hope to return some day.
Only concern is that we had to constantly watch small children because of the number of steps inside the barn
We had a lovely weekend at this gorgeous property. Rob and Rosie have thought of everything and are very accommodating. The property is decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard which helped make our stay perfect. The location is brilliant and there are some lovely walks right on the door step. The doggy barn was a huge bonus and the house was also very dog friendly. We had a fabulous time and would reccomend!
We had such a wonderful weekend at High Ridge. Rob and Rosie were perfect hosts throughout. A lovely welcome pack! Everything in the property feels well thought out. Lots of little touches like umbrellas, sliders for use outside… so many things that make it an easy place to stay.
Well stocked kitchen with useful and quality items. We brought our little dog who was living his best life! Dogs are clearly welcome and there were lots of extras there for him. Fully enclosed garden also made it easy. Great local walks.
We definitely want to come back and wouldn’t think twice about booking High Ridge. In fact, we’d like to live there!
Big thanks to Rosie and Rob for being top hosts.

Thanks so much for your kind review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay here and that at least 2 days were sunny. You - and of course Sonny - are always very welcome at High Ridge.
I could not recommend High Ridge barn or the hosts more highly. The barn is absolutely beautiful: the views are sublime, it is tastefully decorated and cleverly converted keeping original features while adding all the mod cons and absolutely everything you may need to feel at home away from home. Our children aged 9 and 10 loved it all, the garden, the sheep in the field next door, the hens, the birds, the board games, the dog grooming area, the fire place and of course the superfast wifi. The barn is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and we really enjoyed some fantastic walks soaking in the views and the pure air. The hosts were the kindest and most attentive I’ve met so far, they even set up an office for my husband to work in and provided alternative food for our dog when she refused her usual one. Stay at the barn if you get the chance, we will come back as soon as we can!

Many thanks for your kind review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay here, and look forward to welcoming you again. Fingers crossed Bimba likes her new food!
This property is absolutely perfect, I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's better than the photos and the owners have thought of and stocked with everything you need, even packing away our shopping order. Its luxurious but comfortable and as we travelled with two young dogs very dog friendly. The pups had a safe enclosed spoace to run and play and a grooming hut to wash off muddy paws. Lovely views and some great walking in the area. Will definately look at booking again and recommend it.
We literally could not fault the property, it had everything we needed and more. The bedrooms were all spacious and had dressing gowns provided and earplugs should you not be used to the sound of sheep. The bathrooms were grand and had little extras such as toothpaste, face cloths, Bath salts and toiletries, the kitchen is very well stocked, the Woodburner provided a cozy atmosphere, there are boardgames to entertain, a boot warmer for after a day of walking nearby and a sauna. Rosie and Rob were very easy going and very happy to chat and even planned a walk which would allow us to stop at a park for the children and grab lunch at a pub.
I would love to visit again

Thanks so much for the nice review! We enjoyed having you here and look forward to welcoming you all and the intrepid Jamie back anytime. The Roaches won't be the same without him!
Beautiful spacious barn in the most peaceful of surroundings. Everything you need is here and more. We were two couples and were spoilt for choice when it came to the bedrooms and who was sleeping where! Our two dogs loved the outside which was fully enclosed and even got to use the dog wash house too. Our first visit to the Peak District and it didn’t disappoint. Rob and Rosie were the perfect hosts, the weather was glorious and the barn was wonderful. Highly recommended!

About the host
Hosted by Rob and Rosie
Having lived in central London for most of our adult lives, we couldn't wait to move here to the Peak District, which we have been enjoying for the best part of 40 years.
Why they chose this property
We bought High Ridge in 2016, and for two years provided just about every tradesman in the area with gainful employment renovating, modernising, landscaping, improving and refurbishing High Ridge.
Of all the properties we viewed, High Ridge stood out for its fabulously quiet rural location and wonderful views with easy access to countryside walks. We can pop in to Leek and bring back fish and chips still hot, and Ocado, Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons all deliver here, as does the excellent award-winning Indian restaurant Pabna. The local pub The Ship in Wincle does great food, as does the Lazy Trout in nearby Meerbrook.
It's a great place to live, and a great place to stay for a week or a weekend.
What makes this property unique
After a bracing walk or cycle ride, what could be better than unwinding in a sauna? Located in your extensive private garden is a modern Scandi wooden sauna pod with authentic Harvia wood-burning heater and separate changing area. Just give us a couple of hours notice and we will prepare your sauna for walk-in readiness. We provide hammam towels, sauna slippers, sauna oils and water pail, sauna timer and bottles of local Crag spring water. There is a hot and cold water shower pod next to the sauna for cooling off.
The very large landscaped private gardens include a spacious York stone terrace with wonderful country views to enjoy with your outdoor dining or BBQ (large and smaller Weber BBQs with cooking tools and charcoal provided). There is seating for 8 at our bespoke garden table with parasol and benches.
As dog owners ourselves we recognise that a dog-friendly holiday needs to be properly dog-friendly. We have converted one of the stables into a dog grooming parlour equipped with a professional walk-in electric-lift dog bath, heated shower, grooming table with pet hairdryer and grooming items including brush, comb and Wahl almond shampoo. Inside the barn you will find dog beds (small, medium, large and enormous), dog food and water bowls, throws for the furniture, spare collars and leads with High Ridge Barn ID tags, and a pet first aid kit. Plus organic dog treats which are loved by all dogs!
We know that work commitments often interrupt a holiday so why not work from High Ridge Barn in your own dedicated holiday HQ without disturbing your fellow guests. We will convert one of the four bedrooms into an office with a modern desk, an ergonomic Herman Miller chair, and an anglepoise lamp. The superfast broadband makes Zoom and Teams meetings easy and if someone's droning on you can always enjoy the view!
