Walled Garden Mews 8 - a mews cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 2 bedrooms
Set in a secluded sunny corner, the Walled Garden Cottages are within the walls of the old Melfort Estate walled garden and approximately 500 yards from the Inner Village.
The Walled Garden has 10 “mews style” two-bedroom cottages and one two-bedroom first floor apartment with each cottage enjoying views over the beautiful gardens and overlooking Loch Melfort to the South . There are plenty of car parking spaces at the rear of the building, with car parking for visitors provided immediately outside the garden entrance. A small leisure area is situated in the centre of the building which houses a sauna and games room with table tennis, snooker and darts – there is also a small laundry, public phone and communal deep freeze.
Entrance to each cottage is at the rear of the building, through the hall which has a drying/coat storage area. Leading from the hall is the open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen, shower room with large walk-in shower, and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Stairs lead to the mezzanine balcony/games, sleeping area and first floor twin bedroom.
Each cottage has its own private patio opening from the dining area, and onto the communal gardens.

As always our stay was very pleasant. The cottage was comfortable. I noticed that no one filled the bird feeders during our stay which is very unusual as I always think that is so nice.

An extra week in Heaven
We have been to Melfort for nearly 25 years now, Twenty years as owners. So thought we would add an extra week to our usual holiday. It’s surprising just how much we have missed in the past. Found many new places to visit. Weather good, only one problem....the midges!! They really did not like me this year. But not to worry plenty. Of ideas, and advice from staff in reception. Melfort is simply heaven on earth. Fabulous scenery, beautiful well equipped cosy cottages, with facilities for all the family...kiddies play areas (both indoors and out, swimming pool, gym. Paddock and toys for pets. Even our own private fishing loch. Numerous walks. And on site restaurant serving lovely meals and even takeaways. Monday nights is music night where everyone and anyone can join in. Mmmmmm if I tell you any more nice things about Melfort. There won’t be room for me to go back! Oops.xx

Amazing setting!
Melfort Village and the Walled Garden properties in particular are in the most beautiful setting. We have been holidaying there for 10 years. The only negative is the extortionate cost of electricity for a week's stay which does need to be changed. We paid £85 for one week's electricity in March and we didn't use the fire or electric towel radiators. With that sorted the holiday would be good value.

The hidden gem!
I was ,greatly impressed by the charm and peace of the location and the obvious thought that has gone into the furnishing and equipping of the accommodation. The weather was perfect, but if we're otherwise there were plenty of indoor activities to entertain all ages.
All the members of staff were welcoming and dedicated to making our stay memorable. I look forward to giving them an opportunity to welcome me again, soon!
Kind regards,
George Paterson

We had a good stay at Melfort and found the accommodation, customer service and the staff at the Shower of Herring very helpful. The scenery in Argyll was beautiful, the fresh fish at restaurants in the region delicious, the walks and a boat trip from Craobh Haven were most enjoyable. Also, we found the courtesy on the narrow roads from tractors, lorries etc. was excellent.

Very Nice
Very nice stay, excellent location. Was a shame about the weather but this did not mark down the amazing scenery. Bliss having no phone signal but wi-fi worked well so not completely cut off. Thank you very much!

Beautiful, quiet location and great facilities.
We had a great time at Melfort, despite the relentless rain! Swimming pool is great and run so well. Games rooms also a bonus and well kitted out. Lots of nice walks around and not too far from Oban. Excellent customer service at the village - couldn't help enough.
Only disappointment was the Shower of Herring restaurant, which was overpriced and, at best, very ordinary.

Impressive first visit to Melfort Village
This was our first visit to Melfort Village it will not be our last. A lovely complex in an idyllic setting it has been well laid out and has excellent amenities. Melfort is probably the most dog friendly place we have stayed with our 2 dogs and we travel a lot. Staff were very pleasant & obliging. The one small criticism is that check in is not until 5pm which is irritating after a 300+ mile journey.
Melfort is ideally situated to enjoy a good section of the beautiful West coast of Scotland. We highly recommend a visit to Melfort Village.

New Year at Melfort Village
We had a very notable holiday at Melfort Village. The mews Cottage was well equipped for a family of six and the added bonus of the beautiful view of Melfort Loch. There is plenty facilities to keep everyone entertained, we especially enjoyed the bike hire, swimming pool and the many games of snooker. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, a special mention should be made to Alwen for the family entertainment program and being the leader of our New Year ramble on 2nd January.
