Ambleside is 6 miles away and has a pretty town centre with shops, galleries and tea rooms. Also within easy reach is Lake Windermere 15 miles, Derwenwater and Keswick similar. Shop 3 miles, pub with food ½ mile, (4 pubs within 2 miles).

Heads up
Cooking on an Aga range and two antique contraptions was a nightmare. Bring frozen casserole / bolognaise that can be heated up in a pan. The tumble dryer needs a bucket of 20pence pieces. Buy a bag of firewood for the fire (only coal supplied). Otherwise, great location, comfy beds, lots of sofas for relaxing.

The cottage was a traditional house and in the middle of nowhere, although walkable to a pub, and also to Glenridding for a longer stroll.
The only thing the cottage needs is a viewing mirror on the opposite wall as the drive was on a bend and it was almost impossible to see if the road was clear enough to pull out safely.
We would definitely recommend the cottage as we had a great family break in beautiful surroundings.

Brilliant location, get away from the hustle & bustle and totally relax.
Brilliant location, get away from the hustle & bustle and totally relax. Stunning countryside. There’s no WiFi or phone signal but even the teenagers in our group didn’t seem to mind as they were outdoors most of the time.
Decor and carpets very dated, sofas in the lounge bit uncomfortable but enough space for two families with growing teenagers and lovely big kitchen table for everyone to sit around and discuss their day & play games.
Would be nice to have a bbq available for the warmer drier weather but disposable options are available in local villages.
We have a brilliant week away in the Lakes and will definitely return!
