A well enjoyed weeks break from busy lives! Lovely little cottage, perfect for couples.
A well enjoyed weeks break from busy lives! Lovely little cottage, perfect for couples. We did feel a bit cramped as a family of 4 but that’s personal nothing to do with the cottage, we knew it was small upon booking. My parents found the double bed uncomfortable and myself and my daughter spent the week walking into our wooden single bed frames and door locks which stick out so we are a tad bruised lol. But beds comfy! Garden is beautiful, a tad over grown in the middle was a struggle to make it down the bottom without brushing past flowers and bushes (every bee hates nightmare, me included!) but thoroughly enjoyed the patio area. Dogs loved it, my Yorkshire terrier was mad for the balls left! Nice touch, dog toys, treats, blankets etc.Free biscuits and pint of milk were appreciated! Overall a great holiday and a lovely cottage, thank you.Great base for exploring Scotland!

Beautiful cottage and garden which is well-equipped, cosy and comfortable.
Made to feel very welcome by lovely owners and much appreciated the kind welcome treats and flowers.
Location is an ideal base for exploring the area.
Highlights of our trip included: Gatehouse of Fleet; Mull of Galloway; Crafty Distillery; Laggan Outdoor Centre.
Local Wigtown (1m) has a good Co-op and can recommend a nice meal in the Craft Hotel. Great Chinese takeaway (Dynasty) at Newton Stewart (6m).
Despite some unlucky weather, we had a lovely week and hope to return in the future.
Highly recommend.

Wow, what a stunning cottage and garden.
Wow, what a stunning cottage and garden. Sympathetically renovated to a very high standard creating a welcoming, homely retreat. An ideal base to explore from and a pleasure to return to at the end of a busy day. River cottage is ultra clean, not a sign that dogs have been on holiday too. Cosy and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. The owners were really helpful with information for our arrival and could be contacted by mobile if necessary. Our dogs were well catered for too. Both the cottage and garden are extremely dog friendly, they had a brilliant time. We enjoyed the gentle walks from Garliston to Rigg Bay and St Ninian's cave near the Isle of Whithorn. There is a Co-Op in Wigtown and two larger supermarkets in Newton Stewart where there is also two garages for fuel. The local people are warm, friendly and happy to help. We have found a true gem and would return in a heart beat. A huge thank you to the owners for the opportunity to escape the reality of the unprecedented times we have all found ourselves living in during 2020.

The bungalow cottage was lovely. Very clean and perfect for a family of 4 with a double bedroom and two single beds in the other bedroom. There were TVs in every room with Freeview and broadband wi-fi was supplied free of charge. The cottage was on a quiet street and we got parked bang outside the front door every day. The location was central so that nowhere in the surrounding area was more than an hours drive; Galloway Outdoor Activity Centre and Stranraer being the furthest away. Linda messaged us a number of times before, during and after our visit to ensure everything was okay. Couldn't have wished for nicer accomodation for our little family getaway.

River Cottage is a lovely, cosy cottage with a fabulous garden.
River Cottage is a lovely, cosy cottage with a fabulous garden. It is spotlessly clean and very welcoming with biscuits, milk and fresh flowers on arrival, as well as dog treats and blankets. We found Bladnoch to be a great location with a friendly pub at the end of the street as well as the distillery with its own cafe. We enjoyed shopping in Wigtown which is only a 2-minute drive or 15-minute walk away and has a Co-op and lots of bookshops. Further afield, River Cottage is a great base to explore Wigtownshire’s little coastal villages and the Galloway Forest.

Beautiful cottage and lots of lovely touches that you wouldn’t normally find in other cottages we’ve been to. Owners were brilliant in providing suggestions on where to go for eating and walking. The garden was brilliant and a great size and always got the sun, when it decided to show! Overall an amazing home from home. All the family including our dog Rosie absolutely loved it. Will definitely be back. Would highly recommend.

Our second visit - the cottage is lovely, absolutely spotless and extremely well equipped. The area is beautiful and we have travelled to most of the picturesque spots, though we spend most of our time at the Wigtown Book Festival.
Would highly recommend the cottage and the area.

The cottage was very comfortable and very well equiped.
The cottage was very comfortable and very well equiped. The welcome treats were very welcome. Our dog enjoyed the long garden apart from being wary about walking on the gravel - which he does not enjoy. We needed the long garden to obtain a good mobile signal but the Wi-Fi worked well. Having a good dog friendly pub less than 200m away was useful

The cottage was every bit as nice on the pictures, all done out to a high standard.
The cottage was every bit as nice on the pictures, all done out to a high standard. Owners were very welcoming and the dog settled very quickly. The only little thing was on a Saturday night there was some noise late at night as the pub down the road shut, I dare say if the dog hadn't barked I would have never of noticed the noise, it was over and done with very quickly as people made their way home (and it was 6 nations rugby Scotland playing). This did not ruin the break, we loved every second, location amazing with walks in the forest and half an hour later we were on the beach, great.
