About this property
5 Star Luxury Home with Sea & Burren Mountain Views, New Quay, Co Clare
Burren Quay self-catering accommodation in New Quay, County Clare consists of two interconnected but independent beautifully furnished accommodation units, which are available for rent to discerning clients jointly or individually.
House & Apartment can be rented separately. Please inquire - rates differ for the whole property (house & apartment), house alone or apartment alone. However please note that the house and apartment will never be rented to two separate groups at the same time as we want our guests to have exclusive use of the property for the duration of their stay.
The main three bedroom house (250 square metres) can accommodate seven people while the adjoining two bedroom apartment (100 square metres) can accommodate four people. Please be sure to check out our website for additional details and photos.
The units are inter-connected by a first floor security door which can be opened to consolidate the units to accommodate large, related groups.
Both units are beautifully furnished with a beautiful blend of antique, modern furnishings and artwork, all of which has been carefully selected by the owners. Situated in the magical kingdom of the Burren, land of the fertile rock, the Burren is Ireland's flagship heritage landscape - from flora to fauna, geology to archaeology, agriculture to community.
Please note, we do not rent to separate parties at the same time as we appreciate guests deserve privacy on vacation.
Burrenquay is a great place to base yourself whether you are interested in site seeing, hiking, kayaking, swimming, golfing, horseback riding, visiting caves, outlying Islands & archaeological sites. There are also numerous world class gourmet restaurants & cafes within a 40KM/25M radius. The village of Newquay itself has a wonderful Art Gallery & Cafe (russellgallery.ie), Linnanes the Lobster Bar, a fantastic pub/restaurant overlooking the quay (linnanesbar.com) and further out along the Flaggy Shore - Linnalla, the most wonderful farm to table ice cream cafe (linnallaicecream.ie) all within walking distance of Burrenquay.
For many people it is the archaeology that is of most interest in the Burren: with over 500 ring forts and over 80 known Neolithic tombs, the Burren is very well endowed in this regard, resembling 'one vast memorial to bygone cultures' according to cartographer Tim Robinson.
For other people the main source of attraction is the landscape itself, the unique panoramas of grey that provide such a stark contrast to Ireland’s proverbial ‘forty shades of green’. The Burren hills are teeming with such geological oddities as labyrinthine cave systems, disappearing streams and lakes, tiered hillsides and oddly dissected pavements.
The Burren has a wonderfully rich and vibrant culture, possibly captured best in the fascinating agricultural traditions that have evolved in the area over thousands of years. The physical and anecdotal evidence of this remarkable story of human interaction with a landscape still lingers in the Burren - a cultural resource of enormous significance.

The house is amazing. It has everything you could possibly need. We rented both the house and the apartment for 8 adults. We had plenty of space. While you could see other houses, you still had peace and quiet. Top top it all off, you are within walking distance to Linnane's Lobster Bar. Absolutely fabulous food. Bring a torch with you for the walk back as there are no street lights. Since there are no street lights on a clear night you get a marvelous view of the night sky. Highly recommend both the house and Linnane's.
Me and my sister and our families (husbands and teens) stayed in Burrenquay for a week, renting the house and apartment together. The property is really beautiful, very spacious, yet homely and welcoming. Absolutely everything you need is provided and there are so many lovely little extra touches everywhere. The beds and bedding were so comfortable, everyone commented on how well they'd slept there. The area is remote, so a car is required, but it's a great base for exploring the wider Clare and Galway area and beyond. The views are amazing, even on a rainy day it was a pleasure to have coffee looking out over the atlantic coast. When she sun shines, it's breathtaking. The owner and the property manager were very responsive at all stages. Overall we had a fantastic time here and made many happy memories.
We selected this property for a family vacation to Ireland, ourselves and adult children with their significant others, 9 of us in total. We rented both the main house and the apartment and it was the perfect locale for our stay. The owner and onsite manager could not have been kinder or more accommodating to help us navigate to the home and settle in. They also provided excellent and candid recommendations for food, pubs, and sites to visit, which made our trip especially memorable and enjoyable. We were made to feel right at home! The property itself is especially lovely. The location is situated to feel secluded but yet is a manageable walk or drive to restaurants, shopping and sites. The views are incredible. Do NOT miss the sunsets from the expansive windows on the main level. We particularly appreciated that each bedroom had a sizeable bed and private bath, to give everyone in our group a place for some quiet time. The main level kitchen, dining and living open floor plan provided ample room for eating, card games, movie nights and being together. The property is well appointed with all the comforts of home. We had everything we needed for breakfasts in (very helpful for a group of 9!), and plentiful glassware, dishware, etc. for our group. The artwork and furnishings are unique and were obviously selected with care by the owner to make this property feel more like a home and less like a generic rental.Thank you Tara and Gerry!!
Amazing property - enough space for our family of ten and space for down time too for the kids. Amazing views and great walk close to the property. Tourist sites were all an easy drive away.
We had a really enjoyable week here. The house is very comfortable and well-equipped, with beautiful views all around. We would certainly consider returning again!
Good location, stocked with everything we needed, property manager was helpful, owner responsive, house was clean and safe. Nearby restaurant; gallery; ice cream; chocolate; perfumerie; and woolen shop. Kinvarra had grocery store. I recommend this rental.

Perfect vacation!!
This is a beautiful home, great location - central for day trips. Beautiful views, quiet location for relaxing and yet close enough walk to a local restaurant/pub! We would come back with no hesitation! Gerry/Property Manager was very helpful with recommendations of car drives and local attractions and was a super nice guy that was available but not overbearing!

We live overseas, but we (the parents) have known and visited the Burren for decades. We return to the Burren every year and it never ceases to delight and amaze us.
Why they chose this property
I came to New Quay, the Burren, every summer in my childhood. And I continue to do so as an adult with my family! The Flaggy Shore is the subject of Seamus Heaney's poem 'Postscript':
'And some time make the time to drive out west ... Into County Clare, along the Flaggy Shore....'
