We enjoyed our stay very much. Great location with everything you needed. So close to the Tarka Trail, shop and small beach. The view to estuary fantastic. Only downside is that we found the beds too hard and they could do with mattress toppers.

The house is facing the sea with good parking, and in a great position to seek out several well known beach resorts. There are several pub restaurants and a small shop.
Large well stocked kitchen dinner on ground floor, with a hall and W.C, leading out to garden which has a very large table and chairs, leading up very steep steps to a grassed area. Not good for sunbathing.
First floor has large old fashioned double bedroom with a high lumpy bed. Also a large well equipped lounge overlooking the bay to the righthand side.
Second floor. Large bathroom, double with en suite, quite small bunk bedroom.
Third floor has very steep narrow staircase leading to twin room, and double en suite.
There is a lot of stairs so would not be suitable for less mobile people. We would however return for another holiday, but if you like nightlife/slot machines etc it may not be for you, but great for families with children.

We loved our stay at Captain’s House.
We loved our stay at Captain’s House.
The house was very well equipped the location was perfect. We all had a fabulous time in this charming property.
The garden is small but served as a great space to eat and chat about our days adventures.
Maybe the sofas are little dated, but everything works and the Captain’s House offers a practical solution for a big family gathering.
We used the house as a great base to explore the local beaches, Tarka trail, pubs etc.
The owner also invited us to their walled gardens only 15 minute drive away, which was lovely and a real treat.
We’d definitely stay here again.

A really lovely house with a fab ever changing view.
A really lovely house with a fab ever changing view. It's well kitted out and more than adequate for a party of 10. We were 3 families of 4 kids and 6 adults and definitely put the house through its paces. We were very comfortable and have no complaints.
It's position in gorgeous Instow is also fab with 3 good pubs, a shop, cafe, post office and fabulous beach on your doorstep.
It's also well located for exploring everything north Devon has to offer.
Great House and we had a fab holiday!

Instow is a great location for touring north Devon.
Instow is a great location for touring north Devon. For its size it has an excellent pub, restaurants and a marvellous deli. We were fortunate to have brilliant weather so the beach and estuary looked fabulous. Re the accomadation, it was more than adequate for our needs, however there were a couple of minor issues namely the shower in main bathroom was poor, the mattress on the double bed on second floor was uncomfortable and sadly the view from the living room was obscured by a settee. However overall the house was spacious and great for larger parties.

A very well equipped spacious house in a lovely location.
A very well equipped spacious house in a lovely location. This is our second visit to the Captains House and all three generations of our family had a wonderful time. Plenty of places to eat out but if you want to eat in Johns shop had plenty of provisions. The lovely home cooked scones and wine were a lovely welcoming gift on arrival. Highly recommended.
