The Old Boat Yard is a lovely old cottage in Appledore. Situated on the sea side of Irsha Street, there are beautiful views from the patio garden and first floor terrace, across the estuary to Braunton Burrows, The cottage is comfortable, homely, well-equipped and full of character. Communications with Richard were easy and he was very helpful. We had a wonderful break and will certainly stay here again.
This was our 2nd stay in the summer holdays and it always delivers 100% relaxation. As two teachers who live in the West Country, we totally appreciate how rare it is to find a seaside space that is not heaving with people in the 6 weeks summer holidays. The mesmeric views of the estuary and the walks along the coast to the Burrows or across the estuary at instow of Crow point are brillinat for dog walkers and with very few people.
The property was as spotless as ever. We will definitely be booking agian.
We had an excellent holiday . The cottage was very clean . Very well equipped. No good for 8 adults . 6 adults and two children it would be great . Would not hesitate to go back again .
House very well prepared, we have stayed there for some 40 years, alas the weather was not so kind, so surfed less frequently. Family all had a great time.
We had an amazing week here. It was the perfect place to completely relax for us in the busy summer 6 week holidays. We could close the qorld away and sit for hours in the conservatory looking at the scenery. The house had everything we needed and with the lovwly quiet town of Appledore only 2mins walk away, we could pop there for anything we needed.
Thanks for the perfect summer break Richard et al, we will definitely be back.
This is probably our 6 or 8 visit over many years, we can't remember, but as always really enjoyed our stay and were blessed with fantastic weather. This is a great house especially if you either come as 2 families or with friends. Crabbing still enjoyed at high tide by all ages. Hockings ice cream eaten every day and lots of swimming and cream teas (Doctor Mill the best).
Will be back for sure.

We have rented this property for some 35 years, so you may conclude that we like it. However two issues, the first is that no effort had been made to make it " Covid compliant " which as the first tenants post Coronavirus, did not worry us. The second issue, much more serious is that we did not have a single communication from HomeAway . Com post your demand for our Rent, not a dicky bird.
Really perfect. Wonderful views, charming rooms, with room for everything…Lots of comfortable seating, shelf and closet space. The heating system was easy to use, and the fire place too. The house was within walking distance of pubs, and shops and even the ferry over to Instow…we visited out of season so parking was also no problem.
All in all a memorable visit, we’ll worth the time and money.
Thank you

The house is in a perfect location. Close to all that Appledore has to offer and only a short walk from the car park. The house is well set up, offering sleeping accommodation on two levels. The view from the conservatory, overlooking the estuary, is stunning. We were even able to enjoy crabbing over the garden wall when the tide was in!
A fabulous holiday was had by all ages in our extended family.
Ideal well equipped property for large or extended family holiday with plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Marvellous to wake up with the sunrise over the estuary and fantastic views. We would certainly consider staying here again.
We throughly enjoyed our stay here. Large spacious, homely, well equipped property spread over three floors with amazing views of the estuary from most rooms. The conservatory allows you to enjoy the view regardless of weather were we spent a lot of time . Good outdoor space with excellent crab fishing from garden at high tide. Recommend trips: Broomhill Estate Sculpture Garden with over 100 sculptures and Arlington House National Trust.
The property, Appledore were an absolute delight. Of course the weather could have been a bit better but this is England. If the dog could vote he would give it 5 stars!!
Amazing location beautiful views. Wow what a week!
We had a fantastic week at this property. The host was really helpful and everything we needed to know was very clearly stated in the guide left for us. The house was incredibly well stocked with everything you could possibly think of and more, and the view is something that will stay with is forever!
Gorgeous views, lovely house but you must be able to cope with stairs
Lovely house with the best stocked and best equipped kitchen you could imagine. The views over the estuary are fabulous, and the sun lounge a perfect spot to sit and relax. Only two problems with the property as far as we were concerned - no parking at the property and no toilet on the 'living' level. But we were an unusual party - two very elderly ladies and two carers, plus two dogs!
Another wonderful stay at Appledore in a Fantastic property. Well equipped, everything you could possibly need thought about. The conservatory makes bad weather bearable with the views on offer.
We will be back soon
Very spacious, clean and well-equipped. Amazing view. Lovely outside seating areas. Dog friendly - a great area generally for dog owners. Lovely conservatory enabling you to enjoy the view but stay warm if the weather isn't so good. Perfect for a family get-together.
