This 300-year-old cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside, which can be explored on foot or by bike.. This delightful, detached holiday cottage, built 300 years ago as a farm workers’ home, has been lovingly renovated and is situated in the garden of the owners’ home, but is completely private and has its own garden. Accessed by a rough track, the cottage is located in the heart of rural Perthshire with uninterrupted views overlooking the surrounding countryside, yet is only 10 miles from the centre of historic Perth, with its museum, art gallery, theatre and shopping. This is an excellent base from which to explore the countryside, with its abundance of walks on quiet country lanes, cycling on dedicated cycle paths, golf and history. Close by is the River Tay, famous for salmon fishing, and the Tay’s tributary rivers (Isla, Ericht, Braan, Lyon, Almond and Dochart) all offer further opportunities for fishing. Gleneagles is a 30-minute drive, whilst St Andrews, Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached in an hour. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.. 1 step to entrance.

We loved the cottage & its location, a very homely cosy stay. Only thing was it could do with a little TLC on some bits but we’d definitely recommend the cottage & would definitely go back. Thanks

loved the cottage.
loved the cottage. It was so peaceful and cosy. Well equipped like a home from home. You do need a car as it is very remote but that is the charm. David was an excellent host and always responded if there were any problems. Highly recommended and hope to return as we loved it.
It was lovely little cottage however the bathroom was freezing as the towel radiator isn’t big enough to heat the room. The lighting in the kitchen is pretty poor so difficult to see what you are doing when it is dark and the lighting in the second bedroom wasn’t great either.

This is an absolute gem of a cottage and a perfect location for travelling around Perthshire and beyond . Such a pretty sympathetically renovated 300 year old farm workers cottage all on the ground floor. The furnishings and fittings are high end and the lovely steel cupboarded kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need . There is a handy little utility room at the end of the cottage with a washing machine and bike store . Lovely wooden floors in the main living area and fabulous bathroom with high ceilinged velux window and walk in shower We stayed here for 2 weeks and had the most wonderful time touring and cycling (handy cycle routes provided by owner ) in glorious weather and wonderful views over the fields . Would love to come back one day!

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
A little disappointed
Think perhaps the photos of the property need updating. You could see what everything would have looked like a few years ago but a lot of things very well used and tired!! Quite sad that as the owners live next door they can't keep up with maintenance and cleaning.

This lovely cottage is in a peaceful location on the edge of bankfoot village, the final road to it
This lovely cottage is in a peaceful location on the edge of bankfoot village, the final road to it is a farm track, very rough ,only suitable for 4x4 type cars. However we were told it was going to be repaired. The huge bed was very warm and comfy. There were a few housekeeping issues which we left a note for the owner about.
Despite having 2 contact numbers for the owner , we were unable to contact them before our arrival. However the cottage was open , so not a problem. The garden could do with a tidy up.

The cottage is in a beautiful location, it is easy to find although you may question as you do drive
The cottage is in a beautiful location, it is easy to find although you may question as you do drive through a farm. The work does not interrupt with the cottage itself. It was much bigger than we were expecting and has been decorated simply but modern with more appliance than we expected to have. The open plan kitchen and living room is great as you can spend time together even when cooking. It comes with secure parking and the garden is completely enclosed. Ideal for pets and children. The garden is decorated beautiful and has a picnic bench for meals outside.
We had a lovely time staying here and exploring the local area.

We had a lovely time. The cottage is warm, cosy and has gorgeus views. It has lovely walks nearby, we even saw baby deers. Great for a family week away looking to relax and enjoy nature. The garden is not enclosed in case you have a dog.

We had a fantastic 3 day break at the cottage.
It was a great way to unplug from the day to day, the cottage itself was lovely, comfortable, well stocked and clean. David the owner was great and nothing was to much hassle.
The location is an ideal gateway to Perthshire and the beauty that surrounds it.
We will certainly be back in the future.
