It is ideally situated for guests wishing to explore the town as well as the picturesque landscape beyond. Historic Richmond sits cosily on the banks of the River Swale, as it has for nearly 1000 years, and is an architectural gem with its Norman castle, Georgian theatre, medieval abbey and picturesque market square, as well as museums, a cinema and great shopping. Richmond really does have lots to see and do for visitors. The cathedral city of Durham is just over half an hour away to the north of Richmond, and is certainly worth a day trip to explore, as is the medieval walled city of York with its wealth of visitor attractions. Richmond is perfectly situated for those wishing to explore both the outstanding natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Park. Beach 33 miles. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
