We had an enjoyable stay at Ghillie Cottage.

We had an enjoyable stay at Ghillie Cottage. We received a welcome text from the owners and that together with the welcome goodies were much appreciated. The property was warm and comfortable and the kitchen contained all the necessary equipment we needed - including a wine fridge! However, the kitchen is very small and would benefit from some storage space for guests’ groceries. There is a wardrobe in the double bedroom but no hanging space in the second bedroom. The property is located close to local amenities and is in a quiet area with no passing traffic. Cockermouth has a lovely variety of independent shops - including two great shoe shops, a fantastic cookshop and a welcoming bookshop. This was our second stay in Cockermouth and we hope to return to Ghillie Cottage one day.

Ghillie Cottage was in a great location for exploring the Western Lake District.

Ghillie Cottage was in a great location for exploring the Western Lake District. It was comfortable and well equipped and Claire the owner was really helpful by sending a text when we got there and coming to see us to make sure everything was okay. She gave lots of ideas of places to go with the family. My family and I thourouly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.

The street front, before you enter the courtyard is a bit scary,as not as nice as some of the surrounding houses and the actual court is clean , but dull. Certainly the outside does not match the inside which is gorgeous. Really nice town close to a lot of beautiful nature spots.
