It is also a great base for touring Argyll and the Highlands. Oban is a small bustling harbour town and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. McCaigs Folly towers above the town and the distillery offers the keen connoisseur a chance to sample a wee dram. Regular ferry trips to Mull, Iona, Kerrera and Lismore leave from the harbour, and nearby Sea-Safari trips offer a chance to glimpse dolphins, whales and eagles, as well as the famous Corryvreckan Whirlpool. Nearby outdoor activities include fishing, golf and a variety of water sports, and there are numerous forest trails for cycling and walking. Fort William, Glencoe and Inveraray are within easy reach. Beach 3 miles. Shops 50 yards, pubs 150 yards and restaurants 100 yards.
