Praiano Paradise

We had a fantastic time in Praiano. The villa and its garden are a little paradise with amazing views, sunsets and sitting under the lemon trees was the best! Wow! We loved it. Also, we received many fantastic restaurant recommendations all within walking distance. 2 chefs came to the villa and cooked our last dinner for us - delicious !!!

It's an old Amafi home, decorated by someone's Nonna years ago, with an amazing garden overlooking the sea. Unfortunately, the place smelled very moldy, despite them having set up a dehumidifier. All the material items - pillows, blankets, etc., smelled horrible. There appeared to have been some sort of moisture event and the place never got cleaned properly. I would avoid stasying here if you have mold sensitivty. The internet was also very spotty. Although at other establishments we had no issues, the management tried to explain that this is just normal for the Amalfi. We asked about this a couple of times over the course of our stay and didn't get an answer, until we asked again and then got the excure above. Poor communication. We were also told upon checking in that the washer didn't work. Sitting around for 2 different repair men and we were ultimately told that someone had pressed a delayed wash setting??! We had no problems using it. We generally don't leave much in the way of reviews but this place just didn't sit well. Again, very moldly, shotty internet and poor communication by the management company made it less than a stellar stay. Also, the VRBO mentoned beach chairs, a microwave, oven, TV in bedroom and dryer, none of which it had. There was a small toaster oven. Otherwise, it would have been a perfect place from which to explore Praiano.

Unfortunately, not everyone is able to fully appreciate the unique character and value of this historic home and its extraordinary sea-view garden, which is one of the property’s most special features. Regarding the comments about humidity, this is a traditional Amalfi Coast house with very thick stone walls, typical of historic homes in the area. After the winter season, homes like this naturally require regular ventilation. Before every arrival, we carefully air out and prepare the property, but during the stay it is also important to keep the house ventilated rather than closed at all times. As for communication, we always responded promptly to every request during the stay. Concerning the internet connection, the service provided is currently among the best available on the Amalfi Coast. However, due to the thick lstone walls and the unique geographical structure of the coastline, the Wi-Fi signal works best closer to the exterior areas of the house. Unfortunately, internet infrastructure in small coastal villages cannot be compared to what is available in large cities or metropolitan areas. The Amalfi Coast is a destination chosen for its beauty, history, landscape, and atmosphere. Guests planning to work remotely with city-level internet expectations may find that this environment is different from what they are used to. We remain proud of this home, its authentic charm, and the experience it offers, and we believe the many 5-star reviews from previous guests reflect this clearly. Thank you.

An oasis in a busy area

Beautiful spacious property with a luxuriant garden and delightful views down to the sea and across to Positano. Great location being at the top of the steps down to the beach. We realised that Praiano was the place to be with Positano and Amalfi being incredibly busy. Praiano’s small rocky beach is much quieter with the opportunity to put your towel down for free on the rocks or slipway or pay 50 euros each for a sunbed but get 15 euros off your meal at the delightful La Gavitella restaurant, which we loved. Perfect location, great food and friendly staff. Sunbeds elsewhere on the Amalfi coast are now 100 euros each. Crazy! George was our host at the property. He looked after us very well, recommending good restaurants, places to go and buying anything we needed- like a kettle, for example! We loved our visit to Praiano and would definitely recommend this property.

Paradise

Aaahh, Santacroce, truly should be called Paradiso di Santacroce. I’m tempted to not share this review so as to keep this lovely secret to ourselves! Giuseppe and Ms. Carmen provided incredible photos, precise details, instant and clear communication, and even a video of how to walk from the steps near St. Januarius to the front door of Santacroce. We spent 6 lovely weeks in Italy and Santacroce in Praiano was the most magical. We have visited Praiano 7 times over the years and will now make Santacroce our new Praiano home. The view of Positano, the garden filled with lemons, orange, lime, pomelo, and pomegranate along with the greatest variety of flowers, cacti, succulents, and grass(so soft on your feet) leaves you wondering how the Garden of Eden must have felt. Coffee, fruit, eggs, toast, and even a bit of Aperol were stocked for our arrival. The bed so comfortable, the sheets divine. Every corner of this home is decorated in such a way that you feel as if you are in an Architectural Digest magazine. There isn’t enough space to continue this painting of words. Just look no further and book Santacroce. Perfetto!
