THE PROPERTY
The landscape surrounding the little hamlet of Gavignano is completely quiet and unspoiled, making a perfect setting for a country holiday, ideal for gentle walks and picnics. The towers of S. Gimignano are just visible across the valley. Podere OLiveta which translates as 'Olive grove Farm' consists of 5 different apartments which enjoy a pretty location up in the hills. Podere Oliveta is located in a certified carbon neutral area that means no air pollution . Each apartment has its own independent entrance and own garden area with barbecue. Much careful thought has gone into decoration, furnishing and ensuring the apartments are equipped down to the last detail. There is a swimming pool surrounded by a sun terrace which has stunning views overlooking the rolling olive clad hills, the sprinkling of cypresses trees and the majestic towers of S. Gimignano in the distance. Local wine and olive oil can be bought nearby.

Podere Oliveta is a good choice for exploring central Tuscany. The main attractions of the region can be reached very easily. The highway which connects Florence to Siena is only 3 km distant. And the villa's location only 3 km from the railway station of Poggibonsi is a good base to visit Florence and Siena even without a car: You can park your car in Poggibonsi (free parking behind the railway station) and take the train in both directions. During the week, trains to Florence/Siena and back go regularly (approx. every 1. hour). The train ride takes about 30 minutes to Siena and 1. hour to Florence. In Florence the train will take you to the main train station which is right in the centre of Florence - it is just a short walk from the station 'Santa Maria Novella' to the Cathedral or the Uffizi. In Siena the railway station is located approx. 1 km from centre, and you may have to take a bus to reach the old town on top of the hill or take the escalator.

GUFO is a Ground floor large studio composed of living/dining room with fireplace, twin or double bed. Separate kitchen and shower room. It has a patio and a furnished garden around the house with its own barbecue. It is highly recommended for couples and honeymooners.

Incredible hosts

Fabio and his wife were amazing hosts. They showed an interest in our interests and ensured we had amazing experiences while there. Gufo is bottom floor with cathedral ceilings, so cooler is summer months. We hope to be able to visit again in future!

Gabio was a great and nice host who kept an overview of all the holiday apartments and was happy to help. if you have questions. The accommodation was as described, only there was no air conditioning, but it wasn't missing as the nights cooled down. Gladly again!

Wonderful accessible location and a peaceful environment

Il Gufo provides lovely cool accommodation with high ceilings and everything that is needed for a comfortable stay. The property was clean and well maintained. The owner was welcoming, even though we arrived rather earlier than expected. We would recommend it to family and friends. We greatly enjoyed being able to visit the Tuesday morning market in Poggibonsi, although the town itself is unremarkable. We certainly would recommend visits to nearby San Gimgnano, Volterra and Siena as well as into Chianti. Overall - a very good experience.

Hidden Gem

The Apt. in Podere Oliveta was more than we imagined! What a beautiful setting in the Tuscan area of Italy. Sculptured Italian ceilings, Tiled floors, huge walk-in tiled shower, spacious living, dinning room, lots room in kitchen (c/w stove, fridge, toaster oven & micro wave). There were five units in the 2 reno'd farm house buildings. Our Apt. was spotless, king size bed, comfortable & fresh linen once a week. The pool area was a great place to unwind at the end of the day (with a plate of antipasti and wine). Fabio & his wife Anna-Marie were gracious hosts, helping us with loads of info on thing to see, places to go, restaurant to go to, wineries to visit & what towns in the entire area area to visit. Poggibonsi is very centrally located between Sienna & Florence. The property more exceeded our expectations. I would recommend t his unit to anyone interested in seeing seeing Tuscany from a farm hose rental prospective. The property is approx. 1.5 km outside of Poggibonsi, a city that is easy to get around in with great grocery shopping, a Farmer market every Tues AM., rail connection to all major cities and great restaurants and shops. Best ice cream at Mario's in main town square. Excellent value for the cost. There is nothing bad I can say about our stay in Poggi, everything was GREAT!!!

Schönes Haus mit Pool

Das Haus ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet und sauber. Es steht auf einer kleinen Anhöhe über eine kleine Straße erreichbar. Der Pool ist wunderbar. Zwischen 5 und 6 Uhr wird man von einem Hahn geweckt. Hin und wieder Hundegebell. Vermieter ist sehr nett und freundlich. Kommunikation ist super.

Lovely Gufo

If you love Tuscany and Italy, this is the place to be. A wonderful location and the aprtment itself is cosy and offers everything a good vacation needs. All the major Tuscany attractions can be found easily and Fabio is a good guide to tell more places worth to visit. We spent six days there and enjoyed every one of them. Visited San Gimignano, Chianti area, Siena, Vinci, Empoli and chilled out the rest of the time by the pool, which was a true oasis in the heat of August. Can truly recommend this place.

Ruime woning die mooi centraal is gelegen met prima zwembad en van daaruit fraai uitzicht.

De woning was voor 2 personen erg ruim. Eenvoudige voorzieningen (meer was voor ons niet nodig). Wel wat donker van binnen en, mogelijk door begin seizoen, was het klam (handdoeken en kleren vloeden klam aan).

Tuscany is beautiful.

Likes : Beautiful antique furniture ( in Gufo studio) , swimming pool , location (excellent base for exploring Tuscany - which is wonderful), amazing restaurants, wonderful hilltop villages , delicious red wine , beautiful coastal towns, fabulous cities (Siena, Florence), interesting markets, stunning countryside. Dislikes : Slightly damp feel to the studio, studio was very dark , lots of mosquitos, noise from upstairs apartment ( doors banging, moving furniture, loud footsteps etc), dogs barking during the night. Gufo garden needs a makeover to make it more appealing to sit in ( some plants, colour, pots, ground cover ). Suggestions : Welcome pack on arrival ( water, milk, bottle of wine, ), studio to be cleaned after 7 days if your staying for 2 weeks (free of charge), chopping board, washing machine, supply of bin bags. Could the guests who stay in the upstairs apartment be asked to remove their shoes as every single movement they make can be heard in Gufo below.

Erholung und Entspannung pur

Unsere Erwartungen wurden voll und ganz erfüllt.Wir suchten eine Unterkunft abseits von Lärm und Trubel, aber trotzdem nicht zu fern für Einkäufe und abendlichen Bummel. Ein Auto ist aber unbedingt notwendig. Siena (wunderschön) und Florenz (ebenso schön, aber sehr viele Touristen) sind so schnell erreichbar.Auch eine Fahrt in das Chiantigebiet ist lohnenswert. Erholung nach all den Tagesunternehmungen findet man in der zum Domizil gehörigen Poolanlage. "Klein aber fein" und völlig ausreichend.

Superbe séjour aout 2016

Une location avec une situation ideale pour visiter Florence, Sienne, San Gimignano et toutes cette superbe région. Logement très spacieux , confortable et propre, dans un décor typiquement toscan. La piscine est vraiment la bien venue au retour des chaudes balades que nous avons faites, car elle est propre et bien entretenue, comme le jardin d'ailleurs. Un petit nid de rêve

La situation : idéalement situé entre Sienne et Florence, c'est le point de départ idéal pour sillonner la Toscane. Au faîte d'une colline, le point de vue est magnifique. La ligne de crête de la colline d'en face, brisée par quelques cyprès...Les paysages de Toscane dans toute leur splendeur (on aperçoit au loin les Tours de San Gimignano). Poggibonsi n'a pas d'intérêt touristique particulier mais son piétonnier et ses places sont des lieux de convivialité idéaux pour une soirée détendue (quelques très bons restaurants) L'accueil : accueil détendu et sympathique. Hôte attentif à ce que tout se passe bien. Le logement : nous cherchions un petit nid où vivre les 17 jours de notre lune de miel, ce fût au-delà de nos espérances. Nous dormons et vivons sous le très beau plafond vouté, décoré de manière sobre et charmante, avec toutes les commodités souhaitable, le Gufo est confortable et romantique. Il a fait +/- 35 degrés pendant toute la durée de notre séjour et il régnait toujours une fraicheur agréable à l'intérieur. Seul tout petit bémol, l'extracteur d'air de la salle de bain est assez bruyant. La piscine : magnifique ! Très bien entretenue, à quelques pas de chaque logement, on peut quasi parler d'une piscine privée car nous y étions quasi toujours seuls. Le panorama est splendide et les transats de qualité (avec pare-soleil pour le visage intégré !), tables, chaises, parasols. Bref, parfait. Nous sommes tombés amoureux de la Toscane, nul doute que le Gufo nous reverra un jour.

Very, very beautiful place for vacation!!!!

We had a splendid time in "Gufo". Everything is well-kept and nicely arranged; Gufo has a private garden with little space for eating or sitting. Lying at the pool one has a overwhelming view into the landscape. The atmosphere at Olvita is perfect for relaxing vacation. The location is perfect starting point for trips to Siena, Florence, San Gimignano (11 km) and the Chianti. We have recommended Oliveta to friends planning their holydays in Tuscany. Thanks to Fabio for being a perfect host!

All we could ask for

The owner (Sr. Fabio Cantini) was extremely helpful and wanted to foresee the needs of guests. The apartment (Gufo) was about 2 km out of town at the edge of a small hamlet. The only sound was the clucking of hens in the adjoining property. Gufo was well equipped and furnished in an appropriate rustic manner. Do not expect too much of the satellite TV unless you speak a European language other than German - this did not bother us. The WiFi link was good and the charge modest. Poggibonsi centre is to be avoided but there is an excellent Co-op supermarket which has everything near the Poggibonsi Sud turn-off. Another useful one is the PAM supermarket 3 km to the North-West. The pool was great. Plenty of loungers and so very clean. Thankyou Fabio - may we please come back? Hugh and Lyn Willis (UK)

Hidden among the rolling hills of Tuscany...

... is this gem of an apartment, one of five at the Podere Oliveta farm. We found the location perfect for day trips around the region... Siena and Firenze are easily within reach as are Volterra and San Gimignano; Poggibonsi makes a very good travel hub. But Podere Oliveta is a few km outside of the small city, so that the immediate environment feels very rural and quiet. The Cantini family has made this a very comfortable place for a week's stay; we enjoyed cooking meals here as well as the availability of an open fireplace for our use. Speaking of comfort, we thought at first we would find the bed too hard... but after six nights of sound sleep we had to admit it was excellent. We appreciated all of the basic necessities (and grocery items!) that were provided upon our arrival; this was a thoughtful touch. We found the apartment clean and even more spacious than the photos suggest. Lastly, the Cantinis are a good resource for local information... we suggest you ask about local restaurants and shopping when you arrive, although an informative binder is there in the apartment for your use. All in all, we were very happy with our stay at Apartment Gufo and look forward to trying it again in the warmer weather when the swimming pool will be an option!
