Idyllic Bergerie with views, NEW heated saltwater pool and 6ac beautiful grounds

From 8. July to 25. August arrival and departure day is Saturday.

The pool is open from May to October 24h a day.

The Owners, David and Ariane, invite you to enjoy the charm of our Domaine du Moulin, which dates back to around 1800. The Domaine, its four Gîtes and the large heated swimming pool are located close to Limoux in a picturesque valley. Set in over two hectares (6 acres) of secluded grounds the Domaine enjoys splendid views of the medieval hill-top village of Roquetaillade and surrounding hills. Only 30 minutes from Carcassonne and its airport and about an hour from Toulouse, it is ideally placed to explore the Cathare castles, the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean Sea and the most productive wine region in the world - or just relax by the swimming pool and take in the views.

The Bergerie was built of local stone over 200 years ago and has been lovingly transformed into a welcoming holiday home. From the main house, the Bergerie is situated about 30m further up the hill, separated by some trees.

The house comprises of one bedroom and an open-plan, split-level lounge and kitchen, shower room and private terrace.

The living room is furnished with a comfortable sofa, two chairs, a coffee table and reading lamps as well as TV and CD player.

The kitchen is fully equipped with table and chairs, gas hob/oven and dishwasher.

The shower room contains two basins, a toilet and a good size shower.

The kitchen patio door opens onto the private terrace which enjoys stunning views of our valley and overlooks the pool. The terrace is equipped with garden furniture and a gas BBQ for enhanced outdoor living "Mediterranean style".

Please note: Due to its position on a slope the Bergerie is not suitable for people with walking difficulties!

Super time spectacular views, hosts very friendly and helpful. Pool was a godsend and spotless. Get your provisions before you go to the venue at supermarket, when you see the view you dont want to move.

Of all the places I've stayed with Owners Direct this is the only 1 that hasn't matched the reviews. Ariane did not respond to our phone call/message when we got lost. She didn't meet us like she did in other reviews and didn't apologise for it, nor apologise for not responding to our phone call. Guests in the main house were given instructions to show us where to go-thank goodness for them and helping us up to the Bergerie in the dark. I know it said there's a short walk to get to the house and not suitable for anyone with mobility problems - what it should say is - there is a hike up to this house and not suitable for anyone with medical problems especially heart or breathing difficulties. Ariane eventually visited the next morning. Health and safety isn't a priority as the land wasn't fenched off from the quarry next door, children beware it's a vast drop, the steps via the shorter route down to the pool or car are also not secure as Ariane informed me while going down them-so why not fix them or at least have a handrail. There was no telephone signal at all and the internet was intermittent. Something positive :-) the pool & area was lovely-but you had to clean the pool if down first as Ariane was not about(she did say she would call every day). Inside wasn't too bad, in the bedroom & bathroom there were little ants and/or woodworm but whatever it was it made a mess, I had to dust my bed down everyday as something was falling from the beams above, the same applied over the sink in the bathroom. There was rubbish under the wardrobe in the living room. Ariane has promised to wash the curtains and get new bed linen. Unfortunately I have run out of space to continue.

These guests were unfortunate in one respect. We had moved to our other property 5 min down the road for the summer for the first time and were left by Orange without any means of contact for 6 months, no telephone, no email, no mobile phone network. I only found their phone call after I had visited them the first time. The walk to the Bergerie is 150 m and one can drive up there, but not at night when one has not seen the path before. There is an old quarry next to our property but on our side the drop is more a hill and not at all dangerous. The shortcut to the Bergerie has some steps made from natural stone, so they are uneven. No one is forced to use them. There is mobile phone network, we use it every day and the Wifi works as well. We have a stronger antenna now. We are in the country here, so ants appear now and then. I put ant killer down when there is a nest building. We have no living woodworm and I had a sniff in the curtains. My very fine nose could not discover any odour but I washed them anyway.

Heerlijk 2 persoons vakantiehuis, veel privacy, en voorzien van veel gemakken, zoals gas BBQ. Geen airco, maar temperatuur is goed te regelen met luiken en ramen. Door ligging op berg koelt het ‘s-avonds lekker af. Fantastisch uitzicht. Sympathieke gastheer en -vrouw.

Nous avons cherché un peu "la bergerie", le lieu n'est pas suffisamment bien signalé. Malgré la barrière de la langue tout s'est bien passé, les propriétaires nous ont aidé pour monter les bagages jusqu'à la bergerie, nous avons apprécié ce geste. Le logement est bien équipé, la flambée du soir très agréable, le point de vue magnifique, avec un coucher de soleil qui apaise et le tout dans un calme appréciable. Pas de problème de wifi, couchage parfait.

gezellig huisje met alles wat je nodig hebt in goede staat, hier en daar een likje verf zou mogen maar de vriendelijke nieuwe eigenaars hebben het nog maar pas overgenomen .. vandaar. Het uitzicht is super en je hebt een ruime tuin om je te ontspannen.

La bergerie - gite du moulin

Pour des personnes qui recherchent la tranquillité et le calme, c'est le gite idéal !! La bergerie est le gite qui est le plus haut, et un peu à l'écart des autres. Par contre, il vaut mieux ne pas avoir de problème de déplacement parce qu'il faut grimper !!pouaccéder

Komfortabler Rückzugsort für unseren Bergwander-Urlaub

Wir haben bei unserem Aufenthalt im "Schafstall" die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit, wie die gute Ausstattung sehr genossen. Die Küche hat alles, was wir uns für einen komfortablen Urlaub gewünscht haben. Der Kühlschrank ist vielleicht schon etwas altersschwach. Zwar nur einmal genutzt, aber großartiig ist, dass auch im späten Oktober der Pool noch nutzbar war. Eine Internetverbindung per WLAN ist ebenfalls möglich, allerdings nicht ganz stabil, so dass wir uns oft mit dem mobilen Netz beholfen haben. Dafür reichte der Empfang am Berghang meist aus. Die Vermieter sind freundlich und machen das Ein- und Aus-Checken unkompliziert. Vielen Dank! Zu bemerken ist noch, dass es eine Herausforderung ist, mit dem PKW bis an die Hütte vorzufahren, und bei ungünstigen Verhältnissen muss das Gepäck bei der An- oder Abreise den Hang vom Parkplatz hoch- bzw. zum Parkplatz runtergetragen werden.

Mühle im Katharerland mit Aussicht und Swimming Pool

Die Ferienhäuser gehören zu einer ehemaligen Mühle, die sich an einen Hang schmiegt. Wir hatten das kleinste Haus mit dem größten Fitness-Faktor. Es ist ratsam, das Gepäck die 10 Höhenmeter vom Parkplatz zum Haus zu schleppen, wenn man kein kompaktes SUV hat. Dafür hat man eine Aussicht über das Tal und auf die Berge mit Felsen, Wein und Wald gegenüber. Die Wände des Hauses sind aus Naturstein gemauert und verbreiten eine urige Atmosphäre. Auf der Terasse kann man Kaffee und Wein genießen. Zur Lage: Ziele im südlichen Katharerland wie Rennes-les-Chateau oder Montsegur sind in max. 40 min mit dem Auto erreichbar. Limoux in 4 km bietet alles, was man zu Essen und Trinken braucht. Die Vermieterin hat zudem detailliert beschrieben, welche Lokale zu empfehlen sind. Man kann das Auto auch stehen lassen - es lohnt sich, die Berge vom Haus zu Fuß zu erkunden. Oder mit dem MTB. Und dann ist da noch Swimming Pool. Nach einem heißen Tag eine willkommene Erfrischung.

Logement conforme à notre attente à part l accès très limité.

Nous aurions apprécié un double vitrage pour le bruit et la chaleur. Alentours très agréable et feu de bois très appréciable pour l ambiance .... et la chaleur.

Devant moi ils ont dit qu'ils AIMENT BEAUCOUP la Bergerie.... On peut conduire en haut pour decharger, le parking est en bas comme dans la description.

Charmant petit gîte

Nous avons passé une agréable semaine dans le gîte « La bergerie ». Celui ci est un peu plus en hauteur sur la propriété que les trois autres gîtes ce qui est très agréable. Le seul inconvénient est que la terrace est un peu plus exposé au vent ... Le gîte était plutôt propre et bien équipé. Par contre le wifi manque de portée et n’atteint pas la bergerie, ce qui au final n’est pas plus mal pour déconnecter un peu. En ce qui concerne le couchage, dommage que le lit double soit composé de deux couettes une personne.

Très grand gite pour 2, en pleine nature avec une très belle vue. Le lit est à remplacer, et il faut faire attention que personne ne tire d'eau à la piscine ou dans le jardin, car cela coupe l'eau à la bergerie. Lave vaisselle, terrasse au soleil, belle piscine agréable avec des transats, et le gite est à l'écart, donc très au calme. Wifi presque inexistant dans le gite mais fonctionne à la piscine. Montée au gite un peu raide si vous avez des difficultés à vous déplacer, il vaut mieux choisir un des gites en bas. Un séjour agréable.

Je suis tres desolee concernant les matelas. On pourrait nous avertir apres la premiere nuit s'il y a un souci. Sur reception de cette appreciation hier, nous avons remplace les matelas aujourd'hui. Le wifi marche, mon mari a regarde une video youtube dans la Bergerie cette apres-midi. On ajoute de l'eau a la piscine environ une fois par mois, normalement quand les hotes sans absents pour qu'ils ne sont pas deranges. Merci pour les autre commentaires.

Rapport qualité/prix: excellent Accueil : excellent commodités : excellentes (cuisine + chambre + salle de bain). Cadre : superbe vue, tranquilité. De plus dans le jardin, il est possible de trouver du laurier / romarin / différentes herbes pour la cuisine. Magasins généraliste à 5km. Activité : Alet-les-bain / Rennes-le-Chateau / Rennes-les-bains / Limoux etc. Nombreuses balades tous niveaux et autres activités sportives.

Lovely countryside stay

The Bergerie is perfect for one person or cosy for two. Comfortable, with everything you need. Wild orchids in the lawn and lots of quiet. it would be a bit too cold any earlier in the year, but lovely over Spring and Summer. Ariana and Duncan are great hosts, friendly but private. It's a hike up the hill, so you don't want to be lugging up heavy baggage, but it just makes it more private.

A hidden gem!

A really cosy and well-equipped gite in a superb rural location yet just 10 minutes drive from the centre of Limoux. The gite was spotless and occupies an elevated position about 60 meters uphill from the main house with fantastic views up the valley to the village of Roquetaillade. David and Ariane were ideal hosts, friendly and helpful yet unobtrusive. This gite would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues but, as a couple in our late sixties, we had no problem at all and would certainly book again!
