About this property

Petit Pic - set in the heart of the beautiful Aude countryside

Petit Pic is a self contained gite adjoining our house and situated in grounds of 8 acres. We are surrounded by rural countryside creating a safe haven for our guests to enjoy the pool and gardens in complete safety and security. This is the perfect quiet and peaceful location to enjoy the beautiful Languedoc countryside. At night there is no noise or light pollution to impede your view of the night sky or muffle the sounds of nature.
The gite sleeps four but our larger gite, Grand Pic, may also be booked allowing for groups of up to 10.
Guests have use of a 10m x 5m heated pool equipped with sun beds, pool towels and inflatable pool toys and floats.
The gite has a fully equipped kitchen and full laundry facilities. There is also a charcoal BBQ. Meals may be taken on the open air terrace overlooking the gardens or at the indoor dining table with ample room for 4.
The property is situated in the heart of Cathar country and is just half an hour's drive from the World Heritage listed citadel at Carcassonne. It lies in the middle of the AOC Malpere wine region with many small producers close at hand offering the opportunity to taste and buy the local wines.
Around the nearby town of Limoux you will find Blanquette de Limoux, a sparkling wine produced using the methode champenoise.
For those who are looking for a more active holiday we are close to the GR7 hiking trail, and a short distance from beautiful walking trails in the French Pyrenees. Mountain bikes can be hired locally. Canoeing and kayaking is available on the River Aude, with a watersports centre in Limoux. More watersports activities can be found at the Lac de Montbel, along with a family beach with boats and pedaloes for hire. The lake is located a short distance from Mirepoix. Horse riding is available close to the property. We are also about one hour from the ski slopes in winter.
Alternatively, if your preference is for a day at the seaside it is just over an hour s drive to the Mediterranean coast at Narbonne Plage.

Propriétaires très disponible et à la fois très discrets, accueil chaleureux. habitat très spacieux et agréable, très bien équipé. Linge de maison très très bien, piscine très bien et bien équipée. Environnement très très agréable, grand espace de verdure bien entretenu. C est ce que nous recherchions.

Logement mal entretenu

Malgré la gentillesse de son propriétaire, notre séjour s’est avéré désagréable à cause de vétusté et le manque d’entretien du logement. La douche bouchée et moisie de toute part était une partie des déconvenues. La maison entière est mal isolée, moisie aux quatre coins des pièces, l’humidité prégnante et constante malgré le chauffage. Les lits à ressorts ne sont pas confortables (mal de dos pour tous). La salle de bain, un marécage. Le fait que nous étions en avril avec deux jours de pluie y a peut-être contribué mais nous restons persuadés vu les photos et le réel état du gîte que ce logement est laissé pour compte et mérite un gros travail de rénovation et d’isolation. Dommage car si on souhaite du calme, c’est un lieu idéal et reposant l’été avec la piscine. A préciser : très loin de tout (40 min de Carcassonne) . Il faut une voiture.

Tout d'abord, nous sommes désolés que vous ayez été déçu par votre séjour. Comme toujours, le gîte a été soigneusement nettoyé par nos nettoyeurs externes avant votre arrivée. Le temps a été mauvais, pas seulement pendant que vous étiez ici, mais au cours des 6 à 7 dernières semaines, avec beaucoup de pluie et de neige le premier week-end d'avril. En conséquence, nous connaissons des niveaux d'humidité très élevés. L'Aude peut être très humide au printemps, mais cette année a été exceptionnelle. Cependant, si la salle de bain était un marécage comme vous le dites, pourquoi ne nous avez-vous pas signalé le problème ? Nous ne pouvons pas résoudre un problème si nous n'en sommes pas conscients. Nous sommes déçus par les commentaires concernant les lits car les matelas sont neufs. Les matelas du lit simple ont été achetés début avril. Nous considérons les commentaires sur la rénovation comme simplement injustes et non comme un reflet de l'état du gîte. La seule chose sur laquelle nous pouvons être d'accord, c'est que nous sommes à 40 minutes de Carcassonne et qu'une voiture est indispensable.

Gîte de bonne taille, bien équipé, situé près de La Courtete, au milieu des petits villages de l'Aude. Emplacement correct pour rayonner. Grand jardin et piscine avec accès sécurisé. Lit bébé, chaise haute fournies avec en bonus quelques jouets !

Calme et bienveillance

Ian & Sue sont particulièrement accueillants et attentifs au bien être des voyageurs. Nous avions 2 enfants en bas âge (3,5 ans & 18mois) qui ont été ravis de l'espace à disposition (jardin, piscine, trampoline, balançoire) et des animaux. Belles vacances en famille dans un lieu paisible

Great place, beautiful region, friendly owners

End of April i stayed here for 4 nights with my wife, niece and daughter. We are from the Netherlands There was a warm welcome from the English landlord and his wife. The Landlord is very helpful. The location itself is quiet and lovely and approximately 35 minutes from the beautiful magical Cite of Carcassonne. We were very lucky with the weather (21 to 25 degrees) and actually used the available swimming pool. There is a lot to Discover in the region; medieval Castles (eg: lastours) and towns (Mirepoix 20 minutes), wine, food,and beautiful nature. If you want to discover this part of France then this place is highly recommended!

Accueil chaleureux par Ian, logement agréable, avec table extérieure pour déjeuner aux beaux jours, literie confortable et logement bien équipé côté électroménager pour profiter au maximum de cette belle région.
