This entire property, on Quathiaski Cove, is one of the most peaceful places we have ever stayed! You could not get a more relaxing and beautiful spot for a cottage. Perched high above the ocean watching the world go by there is never a dull moment. We especially loved watching and listening to the seals playing in the Kelp beds below the cottage. Loon Point Cottage offers a very warm welcoming and cozy feeling with the most magnificant Ocean views of the surrounding area. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for our comfort. Our hostess, Kate, was amazingly easy to communicate with, very friendly and wonderfully accommodating! We didn't want to leave and will most definitely be back!! Quathiaski Cove on Quadra Island is a very relaxed, friendly place!
I had 4 perfect days enjoying the panoramic views, the wildlife (seals, eagles, herons, kingfishers, ravens, an arctic tern), and the constantly changing sea and watercraft in Discovery Passage. The location is perfect and so is the cottage- beautiful and so comfortable. And the hosts are so welcoming . Can’t wait to return.
Wonderful place to unwind. We loved watching the abundance of sea life. The harbour seals were highly entertaining. The cabin is well stocked and has almost everything you need. Highly enjoyable stay.

Thanks, Diana! We enjoyed having you both...and Buttercup. ;) Please come back and see us any time!
This was our second visit to this particular vrbo and we made the right decision again!, having visited Quadra a few times over the years. If you are looking for privacy with ocean views teaming with wildlife and a quick drive to groceries, restaurants etc., this is an ideal spot. This will be our go to getaway on Quadra in the future for sure.
A basic space in a fantastic waterfront setting. We had all we needed and the place was clean and functional. Nothing fancy, but a nice place to stay in a very quiet rural residential setting within walking distance of the small island center. Watched eagles, seals, otters, even a few whales from the deck. We would definitely stay again.

Thanks, Karen! We're so happy you enjoyed your stay at Loon Point. We are proudly rustic--we leave the fanciness to nature. :)
We hope to see you again soon!

Quiet, relaxing, restorative getaway with lots to explore on the island.
Neighborhood eagles and harbour seals were always interesting and entertaining. Great sunsets. The island has some awesome lake swimming (we swam at Main Lake after a hike to see Surge Narrows). We also enjoyed meals at Tsa Kwa Luten lodge which we hear will be closed after September unfortunately for island guests. Great getaway nonetheless!

Awesome views. Peaceful and private.
The cottage was very clean and well located. It is fully stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal or breakfast.
However, it is rustic. That means no air conditioning, dishwasher or TV. But you can watch the sunset over the water and the seals an eagles nearby.
We had a relaxing time. Our only complaint was lack of air conditioning as the weekend was very hot.

Thanks so much for staying with us! Yes, the cottage is rustic, which we try to be clear about. Not a lot of luxuries here except the view. :)
We also wish we had air conditioning, now that the summers seem to be so hot, though the time you were here was unusually toasty. We may look into a window unit for next year. Sorry for any discomfort!
Cheers!

This cottage sitting above the bay waters, with it's views out across Vancouver Island was a wonderful experience. I watched bald eagles hunting, the intimate life of harbor seals (almost always present in the bay), and even saw a whale breach and an otter searching for food. The deer on the property are almost tame and pretty much ignore you unless you show too much interest. Quadra Island is lovely and boasts all types of hikes - no Grizzly Bears - to lakes, reversing rapids, old growth forests. One night I was treated to fresh produce from the caretaker's garden. And very easy access to the mainland with the ferry only a 15 min walk from the cottage. Lots of privacy too. The cottage itself was well supplied, thoughtfully arranged, and very, very clean. A great experience and one I may repeat soon.

Best Week Ever!!!
I can not say enough great things about my stay on Quadra Island, beginning with the Cottage at Loon Point. The photos do not do the location justice as the view from the deck is exquisite. The water is crystal clear and full of activity, from a resident seal population of around 16, three bald eagles living on the little island directly across from the cottage, to purple and orange starfish, tiny jelly fish, a family of otters, gulls, etc. From the deck you also have a beautiful view of Vancouver Island; I simply never tired of the view. The cottage is perfectly simple and so comfortable and cozy. I felt right at home the moment I drove up, a short two minute drive from the ferry. The kitchen is well stocked and is easy and fun to cook in. I ate inside and I ate outside - I never could decide which was my favorite. :)
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom small and just fine. The washer and dryer were nice additions.
As to activities, oh! The list is endless! I went for a couple of runs on Rebecca Spit and then for my long run I walked to the ferry and rode across to Campbell River (10 minute ride) where there is a paved, fairly flat 6 mile walking/biking path. I went swimming in Morte Lake which is crystal clear and fabulous and I also went ocean swimming on the east side of the island by Rebecca Spit. If you are a swimmer, Nelson Lake is reported to be the clearest lake on the island. (I did both swims in a wetsuit as the water temp was around 60 degrees - too cold for this Texan!) Fishing, kayaking, some small shops, a museum or two all make for a unique, beautiful experience on Quadra Island.
If you wanted more dining and shopping options you can walk to the ferry (about a 10 minute walk) and go across to Campbell River (cost around $8US round trip) and there are lots of options within walking distance. You could drive your car on if you wanted but walking guarantees no wait for the ferry!
I highly recommend Loon Point. I loved the house and Kristene and Fred and Kate were so hospitable. They made my stay extra special and I feel that I made three friends. I hope I get to go back next year. Quadra is a place that carves a niche in your heart and calls your name - it really is that special.

This was our second stay and we will be back again next year! Great hosts, great cabin with amazing sunset views, abundant wildlife and in the perfect location to explore Quadra.
We had a wonderful stay here - very comfortable and convenient. The dock access was great for taking our boards paddling and the local seals were quite welcoming. The cottage is very comfortable and has all you would need for your stay. Very welcoming hosts and we would love to come back sometime.
Thank you!
Loon Point Cottage is a lovely property just minutes from the ferry terminal at Quathiaski Cove, a 10 minute sail from Campbell River.
Well appointed with all the amenities you need and a lovely deck which is bathed in the afternoon and evening sun.
Directions to the property on the website were very clear and prior to our visit communicating with Kate, the owner, was always quick and easy.
Sitting on the deck it was a pleasure to see a group of seals on the sea below and they were there throughout our 3 day stay. We also saw bald eagles on the jetty next to the property as well as soaring overhead.
Quadra is a lovely island to spend a few days exploring and I would thoroughly recommend Loon Point.
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the cottage. Everything was so comfortable (couch, bed, chairs). Very nicely decorated. The front deck has a marvelous view of the ocean and the mainland.
Lots to do and lots of wild life to watch and photograph. Kate and Tor were excellent hosts.

Cabin is very private with an amazing deck to view wildlife at its best in nature, yet so close to grocery store/restaurants and shops & Ferry so you don't waste time driving and can focus on what you 'do want' to experience. Hosts very friendly and accommodating. One can sense that there has been much conscientious effort placed by the owner for simplicity and sustainability on the property. We loved it and will be back next year!
We arrived to this paradise and were taken away from the moment we saw the views. The wildlife in the area was nothing short of amazing. We watched in awe as a baby seal pup was born, eagles every day, and seals playing off the shores.
The dock was beautiful and the water was nice for a swim.
We walked to grab coffee and check out some of the local shops.
The owners were amazing and assisted in getting the bbq working even on her wedding day!
We will definitely be staying again ❤️
Our host was very friendly and accommodating. The property was beautiful and private. The cottage was cozy and well appointed. We had amazing weather and spent all our time basking in the sun, watching wildlife in the ocean and savouring sunsets! Can’t wait to go back!
Lovely cabin with amazing views. We will be back .

Born and raised on Quadra Island, I grew up riding horses, mushroom picking, fishing and exploring with my big brother...I still do all of those things, so I guess I'm not done growing up!
I feel so fortunate to be able to call this place home. I left for a brief period of time when I ventured forth and completed a university degree. This gave my mother great hope that I would some day get a real job that involved wearing heals and a skirt. That didn't happen, but all was not lost, as I now live one door down from the home I grew up in, and I get to call my parents neighbours. I commute to work by boat every morning and never tire of the stunning beauty that surrounds me. I'm looking forward to sharing this little piece of paradise with guests.
