We had a great weekend away. The house was nice and clean and cozy. The surrounding forest was beautiful. We will visit again as we had such a lovely time.
It was lovely to have a break in peaceful Forrest surroundings- House was basic but all amenities were available. Almost like we stepped back in time, with no internet we played board games, cards and lots of laughter.
Mattress was very hard, a decent mattress would have made a huge difference to our stay.
Two days out of the city at this place was a great experience - in the forest, no Internet or mobile, bush tracks nearby. Owners emphasise the basic accommodation - it is comfortable 50's style updated, bringing back good memories
Excellent location deep inside forest, far away from crowd. No internet which is good for a change. Nice indoor with woodfire and large windows overlooking the forest. This is a place to relax and take a break from hectic city life. Kids enjoyed the bon fire, barbecue, jungle walk, and even played cricket. Surely we will go there again.
Mustafa and family.
Beautiful surrounding with trees. Love to hear the wind noise coming through the trees. House is simple as explained. Beds are comfy.
The carpet in living area was not properly vacumed. There were some dog fur on it.
According to the owners check out instruction it was mentioned all garbage to be taken with you since there is no regular garbage collection at Wombat Forest, so we had to bring all our garbage with us which we didn't know before the booking done.

Thankyou for you review Samangi - most appreciated. We endeavour to give as much information as possible prior to guests booking and will update accordingly.
Absolutely loved the woodland surroundings which were a real getaway from it all. Just beautiful and we loved sitting outside in the evening around the campfire. The house was clean and the log fire was very toasty; everything was there that was needed although it would have been handy to be able to unlock the back door. It's great that the place is dog friendly and our mutt had a ball with all the interesting sniffs around. We really enjoyed it and we'll be back for sure, thank you Robyn
We enjoyed our stay. Property as described was a simple but clean place. Enjoyed family time with no mobile and Internet. Loved the walks and drives in the forest and saw lots of native animals. It was in close proximity to Daylesford and Macedon Ranges.
The location and surroundings are perfect if you are after a quiet space with lots of nature. We had our dog with us and she loved the space that is around. The dog enclosure is also a nice touch. The house is warm when the fire is on and all basics are provided. Overall a wonderful place to stay.
We really enjoyed staying here, it was nice to be away from the hussle amd bussel !!! A good spot for some R&R and hiking. Nice restaurants and cafe’s a short drive away! Will definitely be back !
Got exactly what was advertised and it suited us perfectly. Loved the bush location.

quiet and peaceful
great location but serious issues with water quality , didnt mind the disclouration but the smell made it impossible to use, luckily we were able to shower at the house of the friends we were visiting.Unhooking the tank from the house guttering and trucking in a load of clean water when required would solve this issue quite easily , then we would be happy to stay there again

Thanks for that suggestion. That is exactly what we do particularly when there hasn't been much rain. The last delivery was just prior to your stay on 20 March. It hasn't been noted by other guests but we appreciate your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the location.

Great getaway from the rat race!!!
It was rustic peacefull and cozy, which wad exactly what we needed. Our puppy had a great time aswell. Cottage flea free and that was great. One thing is the need to get a newe bbq. As we had to make fire everynite to cook our meat, as bbq was old and out of service. But it was nice to get back to our roots. Will be back.

Relaxing and peaceful
We loved the location - in the forest with lots of birds and occasional kangaroo. The smell of the gum trees is so nice. No frills cottage- but comfortable. Great for teaching the kids to ride dirt bikes - lots of space and tracks.

A little misleading
A little misleading, the view out the front door is of an abandoned car (not in the pictures). We were bitten to death by fleas on the couch (issue with having dogs and not having proper cleaning). pros were the shower, tv, and good instructions.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your 4 day stay and wished that you had contacted us during your stay, rather than 2 days later, to rectify any issues. The house is for those who love a basic cottage in the forest - cosy and confortable but not fancy. The car is our 4wd for driving around the property - certainly not abandoned. We do allow dogs - as it is a great outdoors experience but could find no evidence of fleas after your stay. There was quite a lot of dog hair from your own dog though and bark from outside all over the couch. All cleaned up now :)

Bush experience without the tent!
We have stayed at Wombat Forest Retreat three times now and each time brings new adventure. Great place to be at nature in what feels like a secluded location but still be within minutes to the closest town. The kids thoroughly enjoy staying here and will be back again as its a easy get away without all the luggage!!

Bush expereince
The retreat is close enough to drive to surrounding towns/attractions. We recommend the Daylesford Cidery, you can take your dog. The house is very simple, but has all the basics required. The bush around the house is quite raw, lots of flies, mosquitos etc -so be prepared. We did not need a FWD, despite it rained heavily prior, it's quite accessible. We brought our own drinking water because the tank water was discoloured by gum leaves. We could play our music and not disturb the neighbours which was nice. It was great that we could bring our dog, she's pretty good and did not wander far from the house, except once at night she followed a kangaroo. There's a pen for smaller dogs. I'm also going to advise that the next property past the retreat seemed to just be a large number of man built bee hives, it's quite far away, and did not disturb us, but maybe other's who are allergic should keep that in mind.

First off, location wise we loved the place. It was deep in the forest, as promised, it was clean, and there was plenty of wood for the powerful forced air fireplace (replenished once on our visit), or an efficient electric heater if you prefer not to use a wood fire. The instructions for finding the place were excellent.
The house was not appropriate for very young children, like our 2 yr old. We had to watch her like a hawk, there were several non child safe features of the house, which I have recommended be fixed in the private comments section.
I recommend a 4wd for all weather access.
