About the host
Hosted by Lorna Alcorn

My name is Lorna have lived and loved this area since moving here in 1979. Partner and I built our home from rocks and mud bricks and both being artistic loved the opportunity it gave to express this creative side of us The cottage was built many years later from the same rocks , as a studio, later converted into a short stay accommodation This allowed us to share this beautiful place with others and to encourage an awareness of the need to nurture and preserve the beauty of the surrounding country . we built only one to maintain the peaceful and secluded feel of nature that comes with being here
Why they chose this property
we bought this property after the fire in 1962 burnt out the timber mill that originally was established to cut and send Karri timber to pave the streets of London . No one wanted to live here any more and there were only a handful of residents living here at that time . It was during the era of alternative lifestyles and getting back to the land we jumped at the opportunity to create something . It was a magical place combining ocean forests and river systems . I fell in love with it instantly
What makes this property unique
This area offers the best nature can provide in breathtaking scenery and oceans tall forests with its unique smell So many birds and an area with the greatest numbers of diverse species . the night sky is absolutly breathtaking nothing like it in the world . It was a fresh canvas too to build a house something my partner and I had never done, and to build a life that nurtured and protected the environment while we lived in it .
