Lavender Cottage
A quaint 3 bedroom heritage listed cottage only 300m from Cowes beach and boat ramp and an easy 150-200m stroll to the main Cowes shops in Thompson Avenue.

The Cottage is pet friendly. It has a beautifully relaxed, peaceful ambience and is listed on the Cowes West Historical Society's pamphlet walk.

The Cottage is close to local restaurants, supermarkets, shops, cafes, and the Cowes pier for fishing or a swim. Everything is so close, that you can leave your car at home and walk to all local amenities.

This quaint Cottage has 3 bedrooms and will comfortably sleep 4 adults and 2-3 children. The master and second bedroom have queen beds. The third bedroom has bunks plus an optional roll-out trundle bed. There is a deep old fashioned bath in the bathroom with a separate shower, toilet and heater. The Cottage has a reverse cycle air-conditioner and open fire-place to make living very comfortable at all times of the year. A TV, DVD, Video and CD stereo player, cupboard with numerous games make for good entertainment.

The kitchen is well equipped with electric stove and microwave. You may prefer to cook outdoors on the weber or barbeque with separate round burner. There is a laundry with washing machine and detergents supplied. This room has been used as a fourth bedroom..

Please note that guests will need to provide their own linen (pillowcases, top and bottom sheets & towels). Pillows and doonas are provided. Linen can be provided by the owner for a $100 fee.

A highlight of the property is the beautiful well established large garden with rows of perfumed lavender, roses, daisies and large well established old trees. It is a picture to the eye. Children and pets love the big lawns. A family favourite is enjoying breakfast, lunch and dinner on the sunny north facing front verandah. A patio heater is there for those chillier evenings. There are sea views from the verandah and front drive.

There is ample parking for a boat, caravan or 3 cars if required. The Cottage is well fenced and private. Pets are always welcome.

Phillip Island offers an abundance of wild life. There is the Penguin Parade, seal watching, Koala Reserve, bird watching at Swan Lake; migratory birds, with swans and wallabies near Conservation HIll. Cape Baron geese wander along the sides of the road and are plentiful near the historic cemetery. The local vineyards, markets, specialty shops, the Nobbies, Grand Prix track, boat trips, walking tracks, fishing spots, historical Churchill Island, and the memorial to George Bass' landing at Rhyll give visitors plenty to see and do.

Closer to Lavender Cottage, enjoy a short 300m stroll to the safe family swimming beach at Cowes, or fish from the pier. For the more energetic, it is an easy 10min. drive to the fantastic surf beaches of Woolamai and Smiths Beach. Lavender Cottage takes advantage of the quiet Bay beaches to the North and the spectacular Surf beaches to the South of the Island including some amazing scenery.

For sport lovers, enjoy a game of golf, croquet, indoor or outdoor bowls or tennis at local clubs in Cowes, or stay home and play a game of cricket with your family on the front lawns at Lavender Cottage.

If you have any special requirements, please let us know and we shall do our best to assist you with your personal needs. Extras include games, tea, coffee, sugar, cooking condiments, and lots of homely household extras like picnic basket, torch, fire wood at no extra cost.

What a special home away from home! We loved our stay at lavender cottage. It was in a great location being close to both the beach and shops. An absolute gem

My wife, son and I had a wonderful stay at Lavender Cottage. The information from the host leading up to the stay was invaluable and the house was as described, if not better. Very clean, well fitted out with everything you need for a short or long term stay and the location perfect. A short walk to the beach and the Main Street. We will definitely stay again.

Lovely cottage in great location

Walking distance to both the beach and the Main street of Cowes, and with a fenced yard, this well-equipped cottage was a great place to base ourselves with our toddler. Elvie communicated well and even left us some hot cross buns for our Easter weekend! We would stay again.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Cowes and this property was very convenient to the beach & shops. We did however feel that the place could have been cleaner, particularly the lounge suit and the main bedroom smelt musty, so we used the 2nd bedroom.

Lavender Cottage is in a fantastic location, easy walk to the shops and beach. Sitting on the front veranda, having a glass of red was sensational. Very private and pretty yard safe for our dog. The downside was that the house, although comfy could have been a whole lot cleaner.

A Perfect Family Retreat

Lavender Cottage was the perfect holiday accommodation for our family this Jan '16. Everything was thought of and prepared. The owner made everything so easy and was very accommodating. The location was perfect a mere 300 metre walk to the beach and Cowes main street with all the amenities. The highlight of the property is the veranda overlooking the front garden facing away from the hot afternoon sun; the ideal place to relax with a drink and watch the kids play on the lawn. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would find it hard to find a better property in such an excellent location. We loved it!

To many rules and regulations. I felt we were entering a Corrections Facility!

I don't know why I am writing this, looking at the Guest book, I am going to be the only review that is not favourable. But you seem to want my review. There were handwritten unprofessional notes written everywhere on what to do and don't, mostly to do with keeping the place clean. It could have achieved the same effect with just one request, leave the place in the condition you found it. But there were little annoying notes everywhere. In all my experiences of staying in different places around the world, I have never had this before in my face. As well the place was musty and dusty and looked as if it was just about right, but not quite right for such a high rental per night. . Any work that had been done was not of a professional standard in my humble opinion. Please don't comment on what I have written, I am sure you are going to talk about all the positive reviews that you have had and I am not really that interested in your comments.

Beautiful well kept cottage, close to beach and shops

Beautiful little cottage. Well kept and clean. Great gardens in the big pet friendly yard. Good fencing which gives peace of mind that your beloved dog is safe and cannot get out of the yard. Big veranda with table and chairs to enjoy a few drinks on a summer afternoon. Had everything you needed so no need to pack extra things all you need to bring is your clothes. Easy walking distance to beach and shops only being a few blocks away. Elvie is a great host that communicated well with us with plenty of information in emails before our arrival . On the day of our arrival she even text me to say that the cabin was ready early so we could check in early if we were near by. Elvie also messaged after we left to thank us for leaving the cottage clean and tidy. Will definately love to stay at Lavender Cottage again.

Lavender Cottage is in a great location - walk to the beach (5 mins!) and walk to the shops (5-10 mins!). Nice beds, very clean and tidy, lovely veranda outside. Kids can play in the front yard - very secure. All the facilities you could want. Good base of operations.

We stayed 10 days at lavender cottage we had a very relaxing time , love the front deck where you can watch the world go by. The cottage ticked all the boxes for us pet friendly room to store our boat and park off the road. The beds are very comfy and the shops are so close by we rarely took the car out. Cosy cottage

We had the most wonderful stay at Lavender Cottage, so cosy, clean and feels like a home away from home. The cottage is conveniently located to all Cowes has to offer, including a short stroll to the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our time relaxing on the front deck and exploring the delightful garden. We look forward to returning in the winter to enjoy time by the fireplace.
