Myself, My partner and our friends enjoyed our stay for our Christmas vacation. The property was lovely and peaceful, The hosts were polite and quick to communicate, The home was clean and we enjoyed playing games and disconnecting from our devices and enjoying the nature around.
The property was spacious for a family to enjoy a few nights away exploring the river. House had everything needed, great water pressure and a combustion fire to keep warm. It was easy to find and close to surrounding towns. Would definitely stay again.
We found the house dusty with dirty floors in the open plan area. Encountered 3 cockroaches. Sorry but we wouldn’t stay again. Location was too far from Mannum, 1414km
House was warm, in convenient location not far from Mannum or Murray Bridge, in sleepy neighbourhood.
Wood supplied for fire making it cosy on winter evenings.
Owners were very friendly, informative and approachable - thumbs up!
Down sides were:- Drapes in lounge disintegrating, prickly jacks in lawn and previous visitors didn’t pick up their dog poops.
Would prefer electric kettle rather than stove top kettle.

Disappointed
The photo assoc with the booking looked like accommodation was close to river.
There was no view at all.
Curtains falling off tracks, no dryer for quick laundry and was no wash powder (that was marked as that anyway).
Pillows cheap.
Beds comfy, reasonable size house - could be better for the price.
We spent 5 nights in this holiday rental at Caloote! The accommodation was spacious. The weather wasn’t the best for our stay and we spent much of our time trying to stay warm indoors (there was no firewood supplied for our stay so we couldn’t use the fireplace to warm up) there is no other heating option. We did get one nice day and spent it down at the river (a couple minute drive from accommodation) it was busy but we had a great time using our speed boat on the water. The accommodation is adequate for a base to explore the area and not far from the water (please note there is no river views from the shack) if you bring your pet dog be aware that there is a lot of dogs in the area including directly across from the shack.

Caloote stay
Nice house, no river views as insinuated, also need to be aware of water tank only connected to house and solar panels with generator. I go on holidays so I shouldn't have to calculate electricity use. Having said that we had no power issues. Not 3 bathrooms, 2 toilets and a bathroom.
Overall it was okay but not what I thought. It is good to be able to take our dogs though.

Dirty floors and not suitable for all dogs
Unfortunately when we arrived the floors were very dirty as well as the bath. The advertisement states it is pet friendly however only has country fencing that is quite short so we had to drive our dogs back to Adelaide as they would have easily escaped. TV, DVDs, board games and magazines all very outdated. Lights very dim, fridge struggled on a hot day. Missing fan remotes. Host communication was good.

Thankyou for your feedback. We are sad to hear that things weren't as you hoped. We pride our house on it's cleanliness, so we will pass on your comments to our cleaner.
Our fences have never been commented on before. We are sorry that they weren't suitable for your dogs.
Kind regards

Life's Retreat
House generally had what we required for comfort - but not enough fire wood for a very cold few days.
We are both elderly and found the bed uncomfortable.
House moderately clean - cobwebs above the bed and the odd spider wasnt so great.
Told online we were 500 metres from the river - it was much further- certainly not within walking distance.
The photo of green grass was misleading as well.
We greatly appreciated that we could bring our cat with us though - thank you.
We had a very nice time. I think we would enjoy the property more in warmer weather because there are very nice outdoor spaces. Didn't realise there wasn't any WiFi. Also we needed to buy kindling to get the fire going and left the rest for the next occupants. Once we got the fire going there was enough firewood and the whole house was warm and cosy.
Needs a lot of maintenance, we were advised that oven was not working. Curtains need replacing.
Not so pet friendly, dogs loved the big yard but had lots of prickles/ three corner jacks getting into the dogs paws.
