Long drive way off the street.
The casita has parking , opens to the west and north. In the distance you can see Superstition Mts, SE the Catalina Mts. Few miles away is Boxx Canyon, We have hiked or rent side by side in Florence. Or bring your own.
We are country desert, neighborhood rural, it’s what Az is. So we would like to share this in the winters. This is the best time of the year for hiking. Bring good hiking boots, clothing for layering. Water bottle, and a good walking stick. Please be aware of the critters and clawers, after all we are a desert. We live on site. This our winter, home next to the casita. We share a eight inch brick thick wall plus’s 4” on each side insulated. So it’s very quiet. Our interests are retired, enjoying taking care of this home, sharing some of the unique things that we have done in Az. Hiking, events near and around here. Some guests have come for winter baseball season, Western league around the valley. Golfing, near by Florence. Unique small towns, easy driving. Greek Monastery about 8 miles south of here. There’s the Casa Grande National Park over in Coolidge. Was the first in the country’s park system. Very interesting.
Non smoking, no pets.
We use the time between guest for deep cleaning, and preparation for the next guests, with two to three days in between. Key is also sanitizer. After cleaned it is closed up for the next guests. There is also cleaning products under each sink, paper towels toilet paper, etc.
As you check our photos, the studio has blackout curtains between the king size bed, and the full size hide-a-bed. Plenty out storage space, this area goes out to the fenced area, with hot tub. Note on the tub, need to have pre request for using. As I have it empty and it takes a day to fill and warm. It is so nice after a day of hiking!
The kitchen is just right for light eating. For additional use, outdoor cooking on a barbecue is provided in the patio area. 2021 we have added a smooth top range pans and bake pans, pizza pan.. Over head fan and microwave. Patio furniture includes a swing to stretch out on, and couple other chairs. Barbecue. After a day of hiking, come back and relax ! Put a steak on to the barbecue, watch the colorful sunsets. Get into your hot tub. Watch the stars! Especially brighter in the Southwest. Star chart to name the solar systems. I have added a hot or cold water system. Great for making tea, or filling your water bottles.
We look forward to your choosing our casita. We love the Southwestern winters! No snow to shoveling, or like the Nw months of rain! I would suggest a light weight jacket, as it gets cooler in the evenings. We layer our hiking wear. A good pair of shoes, hat etc. I like to take walking stick with. Since this is the desert we always keep a sharp eye on the ground. We are all in the same place of the wild life! Caution is important!
One of my favorite things is driving out and hiking in the morning, packing a light lunch then hiking back, to truck. We do have a good time! Also take our BC/Aussie along. I don’t allow pets, although you can ask?
We have a horseshoe pit, it is fun! And a recycled desert finds for a mini golf course, plenty of putters. Eighteen holes to practice your skills on. With the higher fuel prices for driving here, I won’t to help with 10% off for a seven day stay & 15% off for 28 days of stay or more.
So come on down, get in the Sun! Winters are a lot better warmer!

My host family was very welcoming, and accommodating, there was a bar of fresh flowers at the table, packets of tea and hot chocolate mix and a porch light on at the entry door. The hostess told me where i could attend a Christmas candlelight service at a local church, and allowed me to play with her dog.

Thank you Jill! Our Casita was for use your over Christmas ! We like helping all our guest feel like they’re coming home to there cabin. Thank you!
The hot tub was just right, the responsiveness of the owners was just right and Marsha included a few little extras to help make our stay very comfortable and just right! Thank you for sharing your desert home with us!
The Casita was the quiet oasis we were looking for. Nice patio with swing, grill, hot tub and table/chairs. Had refrigerator, stove, and microwave with a nice bathroom and comfortable bed.
Loved our stay here and would readily stay again. I chose this unit in part due to its proximity to the monastery which we frequent. The host is honest about advertising. On this occasion we enjoyed the small size. The bed was very comfortable and the patio area
Staying at Marsha and Lon’s Casita made our trip to visit Mom an even better experience. Marsha is a great host and lovely woman. She thought of everything, laundry on site, lots of extra blankets/ pillows even a new toothbrush in the cabinet. She took time to clean the hot tub before we came it was immaculate and was the perfect way to end our day after hiking in the desert (water reaches up to 104). The king size bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with all we needed to cook our dinners. It was very peaceful waking up in the morning on this pristine property filled with saguaros. We will definitely come back and stay here again on our trips to visit my mother in law.

Thank you Lois, it is our pleasure to have you as a guest. Your time here is appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you again.
Believe in sharing this glimpse of desert with all the guest we have hosted over the years. Like so many, it’s a privilege to share the desert! Thank you, Marsha and Leonard.
This is a very cozy efficiency apartment with a private entrance and is attached to the host's home in a quiet out of town ranchette subdivision. There is also a private patio with a hot tub that is perfect for gazing at the stars under the Sonoran Desert sky. The property is a few miles outside of Florence where saguaro and cholla cacti abound. I was on a working trip but wouldn't hesitate to bring my wife to this property for a vacation. And the hosts were extraordinarily hospitable and made me feel like family!

About the host
Hosted by Marsha Wahl
I’m from Washington and was born in Minnesota. Leonard and I have been married since 1970. We are seasonal here in Az. 2011 we came here, and love the area. Lots of hiking, backcountry in the cactus forest. Great for outdoor activities.
Why they chose this property
We got this property in 2011, put a lot of work into it. Love the open space. A real glimpse of what Az is like, away from cities.
What makes this property unique
Old west. We’re out in the desert, plenty of cactus, lots of birds, gravel road, a few neighbors, not too close. We’re on 5 acres. The casita faces west, great sunsets, northwest . Views of the superstition Mts, hiking and side by sides area . 79, takes you north to the 60, or south to Tucson. Either way for adventures. Just go and explore. So many places, lots of fun options. And coming back to the casita, feels like home.
