The house should not be rented out it is filthy it is a health hazard and should be reported to the health department. I left one night earlier would have not stayed even one night but unfortunately, I could not find other accommodation as I had my dog with me.

Very disappointing, completely unfair and unreasonable review from Paul. Our housekeeper tries very hard to maintain our families 70 year cottage. Milk smears on the coffee machine and dirty skirting board etc. are all easy fixes and our housekeeper would happily and promptly returned to the cottage to rectify any cleaning concerns if they were raised with me during his stay. Mildew ceiling patches is very common and an ongoing battle in this seaside tropical location, a contractor has been scheduled to complete a cleaning treatment.
It's a charming house, loved the decor, beautiful art, comfortable beds and well appointed furniture and kitchen . We had everything we needed, loved the walk in pantry and the coffee machine.
We enjoyed our stay here. The dogs loved it as well. It was a short walk down to the beach. It was fairly quiet but still close to everything. We would definitely come back again. Bridget was an excellent host - readily available and very accommodating.
Property is perfect for us. Close to walking party along the esplanade
Easy drive to Burrum Heads and other spots. Lots great cafes in the Bay, walk or drive to.
Great location with short walk to the water park and dog beach. Fully fenced for the dogs. Had everything we needed for a short getaway. Host very prompt at getting back to me.
Really comfortable & well equipped property for families & furry friends. We hope to stay again. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is because I couldn't give 4.5 stars & one bathroom & no separate toilet was challenging at times!
Love the fact that the house is perfect for pet. Everything is really good quality. Coffee machine was a treat! Host responded immediately to a question I had. Great value for $

old but ok
2nd bedroom a bit bright first thing in morning. Cupboard doors damaged and carpet tiles on floor loose.
Excellent, close to everything walking and driving. Quiet neighbourhood, nice and roomy and a beautiful breeze inside and out. Well equipped with everything you need for a holiday. Fully fenced dogs loved it. My daughter didnt want to leave.
Will stay again
This cottage is situated in a quiet area, and close to the beach and esplanade. With an old dog, we like to take her with us to enjoy the holidays but she needs somewhere to stay and rest too. This house is fully fenced and takes little dogs in mind. We had a great time, and will def be back in the future. :)
As usual (we've stayed at 'The Duk' many times now), we had a lovely 2 weeks at the Duk 'n' Willa cottage. Even with incredibly wet weather (we had 4 days without rain/showers in the 2 weeks we were there!) we still managed to have a great time and fitted in kayaking, fishing and lots of great beach walks with our dogs. The cottage suits us perfectly: great location being near to restaurants, boat ramps and beaches; comfortable without being pretentious or precious; well appointed; perfect for our dogs with a big outdoor area; and a perfect place to clean up up after fishing and kayaking (all weather outside table; functional laundry, two fridges; hose to wash things down etc etc). We love it.
We stayed at DuknWilla for the touch football state cup. The location was convenient to both local facilities and the grounds and the property was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Bridget was easy to deal with and communication was always quick and clear. Thanks!
Nice old house. Neighbourhood not so nice, felt unsafe.
House not cleaned properly. Undesirable neighbours yelling and fighting till after midnight each night, my son felt scared and unsafe. The hot water system is too small for everyone to shower in the one day, we had to have a couple of cold showers. Dishwasher had a meals worth of food piled in the bottom. Had to wash/clean things before use. Barbecue was so filthy it was a health hazard, took an hour to clean before we could eat off it. I let the property owner know about all these issues but have had no reply. Overall disappointing.

Our Stay at Duk-n-Willa
Our stay at the above property was overall very disappointing. The condition of the cottage was very disappointing and did not warrant a 4.6 rating.
Externally the cottage was in a terrible state including the laundry. There were holes in the suffits and internally and externally the cottage was desperate for a paint. On 2 occassions we returned after a day out to no hot water. There was insufficient towels for 4 people and NETFLIX was not accessible at all times. We felt unsafe due to cars hooning each night and argumentative neighbours. During the day for six days road works were camped outside the door.interanally the range hood in the kitchen and the stove needed a good clean and I spent time wiping grubby marks off the wall, windowsills and wiping thick dust off daddo rails. There was evidence of mould over the back and front door and the back screen door no longer locked or was clean.the ceiling internally was sagging and paint beginning to peel.internal doors, door frame needed painting, nor would have passed building standards. Whilst it was evident attempts were made to present the cottage well there still was inadequate seating in the loungeroom and the
the cottage did not deliver as advertised for the amount of money charged per day. $200+

Our lil cottage is over 70 years old and as explained through various texts with Paul, we are in the process of giving Duk'n'Willa an exterior makeover. The interior of our cottage makes up for the tired exterior. It is warm, cosy and comfortable. The sagging of the 70 year old orignial ceiling and peeling is slight, being only seen in some areas. At no point did we advitise the cottage as a new build, being built in 1950's, I am sure buiding codes have indeed been modifided since. We communicated with Paul during his stay, rectifying any issues such as the Wi-Fi drop out causing NetFlix to errror, plus working with Ergon Enery regarding the Hot Water issue which still remains a mystery, but now working perfectly fine since. There was no additional charge for the last minute two guests, plus the cleaning fee was refunded following Paul's cleaning efforts.
Our price is in line with the local market price, yet reflective in the current exterior condition. As property owners, we recieved $990 for 6 x nights = $165 per night (excluding any service fees) Booking an entire house with full commercially laundered linen for 6 x guests is a fair price, especially in comparison to the pricing of hotel rooms within the area. Our next door neighbours are an elderly couple and a friendly foster family, therefore, can only assume the disputes are coming from across the road? We love our lil Duk'n'Willa Cottage and it's character, stocked with all the creature comforts needed for making memories x

Could be nice but the place was dirty
Very disappointed. The place does not appear to have been cleaned properly in quite a while. All the venetian blind slats were dusty, the window sills were dirty, the bedside tables were all covered in dust and a sticky residue, glass table dusty, table mats still had food on them, kitchen work surface and oven front door looked as if they had been just wiped over with a dirty cloth. The whole house needs a thorough clean and the windows, window sills and door jambs need repainting. I had to clean all surfaces before putting anything on them, wash cutlery. No where to store food except the fridge. Most of the drawers in the kitchen need cleaning and the bathroom drawers had hair and debris. Not exactly hygienic.
We did contact the owner and she did apologise, but didn't respond to our request that someone came to clean the place. Whilst the work surfaces are now cleaner, I did not touch the blinds, window sills etc. That is not my job.
Considering the bad state of the place, it is not worth the rental fee as it stands and I feel that at least the cleaning fee we have paid should be refunded as the place had not been cleaned prior to arrival

Such a disappointing a damaging review for our little cottage. Our cleaner takes pride in the presentation and cleanliness of the cottage, therefore has found this review to be quite a blow. The review failed to mention the building of 2 x new houses across the road, hence the airborne dust became quite a battle for Kylie our housekeeper. The housing construction is now complete and I have since hired a professional cleaner to scrub our walls and spring clean blinds, windows and sills. Our 68 year cottage has never been packaged as a 5 star resort, hence reflective in the $156 per night fee charged, my sincere apologies if that was what you were hoping for. The cottage is fully equipped with fresh linen and plenty of space for dry food in the walk in pantry? I do apologise for the delayed response on the cleaning request. I honestly overlooked your email, only to read it in detail on the final night of your 3 night stay. If you had of called me directly, it would have been a very different outcome.

First impressions are important. The lawn was un-mowed (the gardeners turned up half an hour after we did). Thick bird excrement covered the outdoor setting. The fibro sheeting on the back soffit had rough holes punched through it and there were no keys in the key safe. Luckily we were able to contact the owner and access some spare keys. Once we finally got inside we found a comfortable, well-equipped home, albeit one badly in need of a spring clean and some general maintenance. One positive was the large, well-fenced yard. Great, safe environment for our dog and just what we were looking for. Could be even better if the house was fully battened to prevent access under. Great outdoor covered area too, which unfortunately gets very wet in heavy rain, the result of over-flowing gutters that need a good clean-out. Other reviews have mentioned the need for improved cleaning and maintenance. Especially important for older homes that often feature asbestos fibro sheeting and lead-based paint.
Great location, close to dog friendly beach and esplanade. Where you can certainly get your 10000 steps aday. Great dog friendly yard. Home had everything you need, very nicely set up
This was our third stay at Duk n Willa, and will be visiting again
Lovely home, comfortable, clean, convenient, an abundance of fresh sea breezes and lovely neighbourhood.
This lovely little abode does however, need some tender loving maintenance care. Nothing major but certainly needs addressing.
Great home for our particular holiday experience, bringing 3 generations together for an interstate holiday. Close to beach and parks, shopping and restaurants; quiet street, plenty of room in the house and outdoors. Extra fridge space, great pantry and good quality appliances all appreciated. Property manager excellent to deal with.
This is our second time at Duk 'n' Willa and the property delivered again. Everything was as advertised and the location in close proximity to parks, shops and beaches was perfect for our family. The addition of the coffee machine was greatly appreciated! Thanks again Bridget - Ben.
