The tobacco kiln is a real find. The hosts took extra effort to make sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen is well-appointed, the lounge is roomy, and the bed very comfortable. We hope to stay again some time.
We recently stayed at this charming farm retreat hosted by Karen, and it was exactly what we needed. The single room was spotless and cozy, with everything thoughtfully set up for comfort. Each morning, we woke up to fresh mountain air and stunning views that made the stay feel truly special. The surrounding fields were peaceful, and it was a treat to wander around, taking in the scenery and meeting the dogs. Karen was warm and welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed. Simple, clean, and memorable—a perfect countryside escape.
Quirky, unique property with a peaceful relaxing atmosphere.
We stayed here to do the asylum tour at Ararat, which was possibly a little bit far away as the tour finished at 11:30 at night.
Very relaxing place
We believed there was a loft upstairs with a queen/double bed and a single/bunk or trundle downstairs, which wasn’t the case. There was only the upstairs bedding.
For us, staying as friends and extra bed downstairs, trundle bed or something would’ve been great.
However I did utilise the couch & there was enough blankets etc
Lovely unique property
The kiln is peaceful and comfortable. The view stunning. Especially the night sky. The property an interesting working farm. The dogs curious but well behaved. Karen is friendly and helpful. We had a lovely overnight stay.
The accommodation was rustic & special in its own way. Karen was lovely & accommodating. We had an extra person joining the trip & she was able to provide her motorhome for an extra bed. The kiln itself fits 4 but the bunk bed was a squeaky. Cooking outside with the side burner was a bit of a challenge because it would get windy at times. We had to use the cooktop inside for breakfast on the last day.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay & the farm tour was great. Thanks for having us, Karen.
Great stay with a interesting building and history. Lovely view and surroundings.

Peaceful and Friendly
Taking a short break on the way home from family Christmas, we found a quiet comfortable space with friendly people and dogs. The unique historical building, country-home touches and sensational eastern view were simply a bonus!

Great value for money
we were in need of last minute accomodation for a stop over on the way to Melbourne. found this little gem. Host was great, daughter really enjoyed tour of farm. Pity we didn't get the best weather to make the most of the table under the beautiful tree out front. Would definitely use again if coming through this way.

Charming location and welcoming host
We loved the way the owners renovated this old tobacco kiln. It was warm, cozy and comfortable and the high ceiling gave it space. Inside, we had everything we needed. Outside, we were surrounded by farmland and peace. The farm tour was informative and fascinating. A stay to remember!

Authentic farm stay that is close to Mother nature
Neat farmhouse with access to Dunkeld city centre in less than 15 minutes. It is sited in a working farm that comes with a fantastic farm tour for those who stay 2 nights and more. You are given a good background of how a 'real' farm operates by Karen who is a great host. It is a truly refreshing change from staying in a country hotel.

Peaceful location
We really enjoyed our stay here - the kids especially liked watching the sheep shearing which we were lucky to be there for - and having the lovely Karen show us around the farm and chat to us . We even used some fresh eggs from the farm to make our pasta sauce for tea that night ! A great place for our short stay !

Unique and quality accommodation
Character building with historical link to early 20 th century farming in area. Hosts were very knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge. Building has a perfect outlook over Mt Sturgeon in the distance and surrounding paddocks. Basic cooking facilities but bathroom and bedding could not be faulted. Everything extremely clean. Hosts were very generous with a wide range of complimentary breakfast foods. Extremely good value for people who want to stay in something more interesting than a motel room. We will be coming back. Perfect base for touring the area around the Southern Grampians.

Lovely Property; Warm and Friendly Hospitality
We had the most perfect little getaway in this lovely B&B. Charming and cozy, the house was wonderfully comfortable, with the beautiful view of the mountain to greet us every time we open the door. The owners were warm and friendly, helpful and engaging, but not at all intrusive. No doubt we will try to find our way back again (the children are already asking when!)
One of our best finds on Stayz!
