We had a wonderful stay at Starfish Blue. The house easily accommodated all our needs, was clean and well located. We would definitely have no hesitation in re-visiting!
The property was well presented and in a good location opposite the golf course. Great venue for small groups.
Easy walking distance to the beach and main street.
The house suited our family's needs very well. There were plenty of kitchen utensils, pots & pans and pantry supplies. It was a short walk to the town beach and shopping centre and there was more than enough parking for 3 utes and a large boat.
We were six older persons on a 10 day road trip. This house suited our needs extremely well. Spacious, excellent sized rooms, airy - great location. We had fun playing pétanque on the vast lawn area around the house.

Nice house
Great house (spacious layout and facilities) and location but needed to be cleaned better (dirty screens/blinds, screen door and exhaust fans)
Shower heads were not great
One of the stove "hot plates" was temperamental (on/off)
Starfish Blue was a great place to stay. (The only problem was the clothes drier didn't work in the middle of a wet winter.) It was great to be able to walk down to the main street for dinner, play golf, go for lovely walks, visit the lovely shops and the boys ( 11 and 13)did some mountain bike riding and befriended a fur seal at the Marina. We will be back!! Excellent! Thank you for letting us stay at such short notice! We were meant to be in FNQ !!

Stayed 4 nights with family group of 3 couples and 2 children. 2 bedrooms with ensuites plus another full bathroom and toilet as well as 2 living areas meant we all had space and privacy when we needed it. Great location.
Spacious, light and airy, great central location. We spent a perfect weekend away with friends. Highly recommend this house.

Escape to the cool coast
Great layout & facilities, it might hold 10 people, but 2 or 3 live so comfortably that it's difficult envisaging anything else. Quiet & comfortable within walking distance of cafes & shops - the only place in SA not to reach 40 degrees on that day, but didn't matter really, because the aircon is so efficient that we hardly noticed. Love to return one day.

About the host

Happyshack have been a resident of Robe for countless generations (the last four are still ambling around, the rest lie in peace in our beautiful, historic and fascinating Robe cemetery). We have current generations of family in the town running and working local businesses, on the land farming magnificent lamb and beef, in the vines at Mount Benson making succulent reds and crisp whites and on the boats bringing in their quota of fresh crayfish.
We’ve spent our childhoods roaming Robes pristine beaches and investigating the rock pools, attending local sporting events, tobogganing down massive sand hills and camping in backyards. Our teenage years wandering aimlessly and parking on the beach with the music on as teenagers do, swimming, surfing, boarding, kayaking or just plain burning in the sun. We’ve driven down, on to Long Beach in the family car with a BBQ, esky and the kitchen sink and spent the entire day and most of the night there. We’ve skinny dipped in the seclusion of moon light and had camp fires on the beach and reminisced about the good old days. We’ve had the pleasure of waking to the sound of distant waves rhythmically crashing on the shore and to the idling of the diesel engine boats preparing to make the voyage to sea.
Our explosive Christmas tourist season enables us to have so much more than your average country town of 1300 permanent residents. There are specialty clothes and home wares stores, beauty and massage services, divine cafes and restaurants, expansive pubs with live music and poker nights, and every second hand and antique store you can think of. We even have a specialist coffee brewer, ice cream parlour and our own double cinema.
If you haven’t guessed by now, we love Robe, its home to us and we’d like to impart a little of that sense of belonging to you – our guests at Happyshack. Give us a call, if we don't know the answer, we definitely know someone who does.
