We loved our stay at frogmouth hutte. Great layout, beautiful location, the kids (7, 12, 15) loved the rooms upstairs. Adults loved the open fire, we hope to go back!

Not a bad place but pricey for the location. Lucky we had a big 4wd vehicle to drive 5 minutes on a dirt road off the main road to get to the property.
We were so pleased that we decided to stay at Frogmouth Hutte in Crackenback. Staying at a rural property in the Snowy Mountains, close to both Perisher and Thredbo we had a great family experience for five adults and three children. The property has views to Jindabyne, the lake and the mountains plus there’s plenty of wildlife at your doorstep. We even had light snow on the first night. The house sleeps eight comfortably and has all the amenities of quality accommodation. We’ll be going back.
So glad we booked to stay out of the hustle and bustle of Thredbo Village. The 25 minute drive was well worth it to come back to a cosy house, spacious , full kitchen, fireplace & the bedding was extremely lush and comfortable.
Such a lovely property, perfect for a ski break. Quiet and secluded, we loved the open fire and the cosy feel of the house. Easy access to Thredbo and Perisher. Everything we could have wanted in a ski break!
This was 100% a perfect space for our needs. We wanted to be away from everyone and be self sufficient! This place ticked all those boxes in style as well as provided a luxe space to relax in. The beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in, the bedrooms were spacious and had block out blinds for the sleep ins, the gas heater warmed up the space well and there was the bonus of the ambience of a wood burner. There was a lot of attention to details, little things like the night lights, a loaded woodbox, well equipped kitchen and a welcome gift in the fridge all added to a great experience. Not to mention water views whilst settled in the alpine high country, visiting wallaby's makes for a perfect Aussie experience! Jo was fantastic with the communication and very welcoming!
This place was more than we expected , the central living and dining area was big enough for us all to hang out together , share meals and enjoy the fire. The outdoor fire pit was another great spot to spend time and the kids loved the yard with the rock climb and tree swing . Unfortunately our holiday was cut short due to lockdown but our host took the sting out of it by offering a refund for the nights we couldn’t stay We are hoping to be able to rebook some time again this season.

What makes this property unique
Our place is a northeast-facing property, protected from the harsh southern weather by the Crackenback Peak. The large trees, that thrive on the north east facing lands, protect us from that north-western winds that whips down and blow up the lake. For all those facing the west understand it is almost unbearable to be outside. Starting in the morning we are the first to receive those amazing sunrises. If you know the area the sun in the morning on a cold winters day is just what the doctor ordered. Then in the afternoon and early evenings, the blasting western sun is not our problem, protected from the south we enjoy the warmth but without that baking sun. Blinds down, Air-conditioning on and inside. This is not the way of our place, unlike other places on the other side of the lake. Located on a private road we are blessed with privacy and an environment that allows the native flora and fauna to thrive. There is enough distance that you feel like you are in the bush, but the town, the lake, and the ski slopes are just there. Loving the warehouse-style living. We built an open-plan building with high ceilings and a mezzanine level. We love entertaining with a big open kitchen and large undercover area we can entertain and just live outside all year around.
