About Ole Florager
Used to work as PE teacher at Victoria Point School and brought kids to Coochie for excursions to see the educational sights and nature walk through wetlands and to Red Rock where the island got is name. Had three kids and brought them here so we decided to buy a home.
Ole Florager purchased this House in 2008
Why Ole Florager chose Coochiemudlo Island
Liked Coochie so much with the easy access from Brisbane by car we can be unpacked and on the beach in one hour. Ferry and bus service are synchronised if you don't travel by car. The house is just far enough away from the party zone during holiday season to be able to relax but close enough to easily walk to beaches. This island and home was the place to buy as our retirement place... our castle with a moat around it!
What makes this House unique
Coochie has the choice of three beaches North, South and East to get out of the wind. House has outdoor shower with direct access to indoor en-suite and laundry wet area with fridge. The bird life is extraordinary and awesome to relax with a never to be built out view across road to nature reserve. Concrete street with no gutters is a unique bonus for parking large boat or kids to skate and scooter.

Some What Disappointing
Our main concerns include the following:
Very noisy aircon in bedrooms up to 60 decibels for one or them and no fly screens in that room
Lawn not mowed until last day
Too much clutter and unnecessary artefacts especially if there are ten guests
Basically, the house is unsuitable for more than eight guests.
Too many mats can be a trip hazard
The ramp is not safe as the non slip mats have deteriorated
The way to the washline is rough and uneven. This is a problem as it is often used. Fir swimming towels and togs
The house could have been cleaner and i am not sure paying guests should be required to vacuum before leaving
All old crockery should be discarded and replaced with a set of twejve good quality stainless steel and all crockery should be microwave safe

This is not a review hut shoud be regarded as helpful feedback. Gerry was ver helpfiul and some problems which occurred were .addressed. Overall we enjoyed our vist to Coochi imuddlo
Future Guests, please read other reviews to put the rating and review into perspective. This is our fully equipped holiday home offered to share for guests to stay and affordably enjoy Coochie suitable for a family or two with pets. We ask you bring your own linen to remove laundry fee and keep the clean fee at a level that covers one hour for one person so it is affordable to rent and guests can discover and enjoy what Coochie has to offer even if just for a weekend. On long stays the lawn might get mowed while you are there. In this case, the most rain in three months fell which made the grass grow faster and through timing out. Fortunately, there are many DVD’s, board games, xbox loaded with games and books to read to pass the time.
Future Hosts, as we expect, private short-term rentals are expected to be left in an orderly fashion and in the condition presented on entry, unfortunately not in this case. It took two hours for two people to get it back to same state as check-in, not happy. All communication is by phone and this booking had three points of contact and expect to repeat most of the information in your listing and shown in the pics. We fixed a plumbing issue and no other concerns were communicated to us however, we didn’t appreciate having island café staff telling us about our guests complaining and discrediting our home that has been enjoyed by many on this review page.
On exit our guests deliberately put our place into disarray, miss-placed items and very messy. 20 cushions where stacked throughout the house, beside TV, under beds and on top of table. We found BBQ tongs under tea towels in a drawer, vases and candles (clutter!) on top of fridge, DVD’s and xbox remote controls not put away and our guest book and impressions book slid between board games in cupboard. Cleaners had to deal with sugar on dining chairs, piles of sand on veranda, crumbs on table, chips on floor, tooth brush left on basin with thick toothpaste smeared on spout, two unflushed toilets and a pile of empty toilet rolls on floor.
We had a lovely time at this spacious well equipped house. It has a welcoming, homely feel to it and we hope to be back one day.
Thanks for enjoying the board games and writing in our visitors book! So you counted 110 fish on our walls, this might become a suggested activity for future guests to varify, please come again and you can check, cheers Ole
Lovely & clean with everything you need
Had a wonderful time with family. Plenty of room for our 3 kids, their partners & ourselves. Olie, Karen & Gerry easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend to families.
Thanks for enjoying our beach house we love to make it comfortable while exploring such a magic island. Please come again we would love to have you back.
One of the best places we have been to relax.
My wife and I went with 4 friends. Ole and Gerry were great to deal with and very easy going and helpful. We had a late (6:30pm) check in and they both made it easy to do.
The house was fantastic everything you need for a get away. It was close to the main beach and the 3 cafe/restaurants.
Everything you could need in a kitchen and a second fridge in the laundry if you are staying for a longer period will come in handy for future stays.
Waking up to the birds singing was fantastic to have with the morning coffee on the verandah.
The other two couples slept on the bunk beds which were mentioned for how comfortable they were which is very unusual for a bunk bed and we all slept well.
All in all it was just what the doctor ordered.
Thank a bunch Ole.
Wow Terry, thanks for such a comprehensive review, and your experience is exactly why we offer our place to share Coochie, please come again sometime.
Great location, comfortable house with games to play on wet days. Second bathroom was a good surpris
Great little holiday house for family or close friends.

Quiet Family Holiday
The property was well presented and had most things needed for a quiet family stay
Arrive by ferry on the newly updated pier where you can have a fish and then walk on new foreshore development with shelters and BBQ's along the beach to boat ramp where barge lands. There is a Kiosk and restaurant near the playground and public toilets/showers at the front.
Coochie is part of the Brisbane Heritage Trail for bush walkers and site seeing and it goes straight passed our property. Walk around the island for diverse flora through the 'Wetlands Walk' and spot a Curlew or Peacock. Beach on three sides and mangrove on the West. Walk all the way around in under an hour.
If you want to swim of the sandy beach then see which way the wind is blowing and select a calm side, very unique anywhere in the world!
There is a hire place on weekends offering boats, paddle trikes, kayaks, 2-6 people bikes and BBQ pontoon boats. Awesome Anzac day dawn service at monument. Matthew Flinders history.
There is a resort where you can book tennis and golf or go for a swim or grab a bite to eat or enjoy the barefoot bar or sports bar.
