Riverbend Homestead Horse and Farmstay
Riverbend Homestead is a large, spacious Australian homestead style farmhouse situated overlooking the middle of a secluded and totally private commercial working farm. Nestled in the alpine high country, upper Ovens Valley, 5 minutes from Bright and surrounded by alpine valley wilderness.
Riverbend Homestead is surrounded by a 150 acre working farm and alpine forest's in Victoria's Alpine High Country. True wilderness. The beautiful Ovens River runs a 3.5 km secluded stretch along the property which is also surrounded by state forest and Alpine National Park wilderness just waiting for you to explore.
The Homestead has a large open plan living with dinning kitchen and lounge room as one. With hardwood flooring and furniture and a large slabbed dinning table for the whole group. The kitchen has a commanding position to stay in touch and control of your group. With views thru to the entrance, garden and outside areas, you can always keep an eye on your kids and be part of the excitement of farm living...
Sleeping arrangements are 3 double bedrooms and a bunkroom for 6. 9 beds for 12 people!
With an extra large King and 2 Queen double bedrooms. And the bunkroom for 6 with 2 bunks and 2 single beds. All bedrooms have heaters and fans. All bedding including donas, sheets and pillow cases are provided. please note, Upon departure guests must strip beds and put linen in laundry, separate rubbish and squash recycling.
Tea towels, bath mats and hand towels supplied. guests must bring there own personal towels. however spare are provided. please wash and hang any that are used prior to departure please. 8 rolls of toilet paper is supplied.
All food scraps whatsoever (Inc egg shells) give to the chickens in coop. No food in waste or recycling bins please!
The water to the homestead is supplied by a natural spring. It is pristine and safe to drink. Bring your water bottles and take home natural water. There is a filtered facet in the kitchen if guests are concerned.
There are two bathrooms with toilets and showers in both, both bathrooms are disabled friendly. 2nd bathroom has a bath and shower. Hot water is by electric and is instantaneous. In summer you can use the outside shower under the stars!
Riverbend Homestead is set upon one level and is the perfect house to rent for 12 persons including adults and children.
With heaps of room to unwind and relax and commanding views and the warm fireplace it is the perfect family and group destination to reprogram our busy lives.
Relax on the balcony with the gas bbq and watch the kids ride their horses or bikes, look for a fresh egg, meet and feed the chickens and sheep. Your kids will enjoy the garage that doubles as a games room. With pin pong and basic toys and a couple of bikes for use on the farm, the kids will find lots to keep them happy and you can unwind while keeping an eye on them.
After a day of exploring the local area you, your family and friends will enjoy returning home to Light the fire in the spacious open plan living, dining and kitchen area leading out to the huge wrap around deck.
Maybe have dinner on the outside balcony that has two tables, one for kids and another for the oldies. Light a fire in the outside fireplace to roast a marshmallow or two. (Weather, season and fire restrictions pending)
Riverbend Homestead comes with a well equipped kitchen overlooking a comfortable living tv area. The enclosed wood burner fireplace will keep everyone toasty warm on those cold winter days and nights. In summer, the open floor plan living lets the cool alpine breeze flow through the house. Reverse cycle heating and cooling is also available. Have dinner on the large deck and enjoy the views of Mt Feathertop in the distance. The fresh alpine air and views of the snow-covered mountains in winter is totally breathtaking.
Your kids can play in the games room or come inside to the bunkroom that has a TV DVD player and bean bags.
The snow-capped Mt Feathertop in winter reminds you how close you are to Mt Hotham and Falls Creek ski fields. The township of Bright is just a 5 minutes drive. Riverbend Homestead has the best of both worlds. Riverbend Homestead is the ideal winter location situated near to Mt Hotham, Falls Creek or Mt Buffalo. Just an easy drive with no road closure hassles. You can take a bus or taxi from out the front on the Great Alpine Road or Harrietville or Bright each morning. Mt Hotham and Falls Creek offer multi-mountain passes so you can ski both mountains with the one ticket.
Horse riders can bring their own horses and accommodated them in the horse stables and 8 separate watered paddocks surrounding the Homestead. All with trough water.
Motor and Mountain bike riders can bring there bikes and explore the surrounding trails and paths in state and national parks. Please exit the property slowly and quietly. There are endless singles trails and 4wd tracks adjoining the property and surrounding mountains. This area is know as having the best riding and 4wd in Australia.
Horse riders, Mountain/ motor bikers must wear appropriate safety equipment, give way and go slow around livestock and no 'cutting' the place up please. Any motor bikes must stick to the driveway wear safety equipment when entering and exiting the property. All activities that guests undertake while visiting are at guests own risk. Guests staying here must agree to signing our WAIVER, and forego any right to take action against us whatsoever. Guests must review and agree to our terms and conditions before making a payment.
Guests must gain owners permission before bringing horses and motor bikes, unregistered off Road, vehicles, buggies.

Guests must have riding insurance and domestic travel insurance. Pony club, Atrha public liability insurance.
Guests must gain owners permission prior to arrival and supply a copy and up-to-date drivers licence before entering the property.
Free spilt firewood for inside heating in wood shed for inside heating only.
Outside fire in pit allowed other than fire restriction dates. Free fire wood on ground beside firepit.
Guests must monitor and take responsibility for lighting any fires.

Guests book and understand that we may have higher levels of risk than other accommodation properties and come here agreeing to our terms and conditions. This includes taking full responsibility for all your group and waiver the right to sue, litigate or take action against riverbend homestead horse and farmstay whatever.
Unfortunately we are not dog or cat friendly what so ever. Please refrain from asking, however take pets to the kennels at porpunkna.
Once your deposit has cleared your booking is confirmed. The property is reserved for your dates. Arrival check-in is 2pm and the homestead is left unlocked with keys upon our information book upon dining table. Checkout is strictly 10am on your date of departure. Guests must take excess rubbish and clean up after themselves. Strip bed linen, vacuum. Report any damage.
Owner/ manager has the right cancel booking at any time if illegal, threatening or abusive behaviour becomes evident. Full Refund less costs, third party fees, commission, taxes determined upon review. Bond, return's may take 14 to 90 days. Transferred booking dates must occur within 90 days of original booking dates.

Awesome place to stayHost was so welcoming and accommodating The fire was already lit upon arrival and house had everything you would ever need.Linen was clean and we were a group of nine that can’t wait to stay again, hopefully this winter
The mountain views were amazing and to be able to sit outside with a fire was great. We were only 10 minutes or so from town.My four grand daughters all said "peanuts" the sheep was there favourite.
We loved staying at this beautiful property. There was so much for the kids to do and heaps of lovely spots to relax with a good book. Highly recommend.
Family & friends holiday to Bright. Lovely farm house which was cozy and warm. Beds comfortable. Host Ed was amazing, so accomodating. Fire was ready to go when we arrived. Such a beautiful relaxing place surrounded by sheep and cows. Wound definitely stay again.
Just the sounds of nature. A short ride to lovely towns, but lots of interesting and involving things on property. Table tennis, feeding and looking of chooks, feeding sheep (learning that after been fed they will follow you for days. Lazy river on prop.

Greta hospitality and location. Plenty of activities for the whole family and a close drive to the snow. Plenty of options in bright (10 min drive ) for shopping /food/ coffees etc. Kids loved the animals on site and a comfy stay overall.
The property was very cleaned and nice with very scenic views. We enjoyed a lot , they were plenty of activities you can do as Ed provided bikes, table tennis and lots of other fun to enjoy. Ed was very helpful and contactable throughout the stay.
Fantastic property, gorgeous surroundings. It’s very nice to sit outside in the mornings. Lots of things to do within the massive property, and less than 15 minutes from Bright for shopping and swimming.
We really enjoyed our stay at Homestead Riverbend.Great communication. Great location only 5 mins from Bright and less than 1 hour to Mt. Hotham.The house is very clean and spacious. Best holiday house with scenic views all around loads of amenities with relaxing nature kids adults all age groups relax without excuse. And top of all Ed the owner of place is a gentleman and can just keep writing whole day.
We stayed at river bend with three family groups- it was fantastic. Beautiful to wake up to views of the farm and the mountains, the kids loved going out to look for eggs, it was a great spot to base ourselves for days up at mount Hotham and in to bright and porepunkah and wandi for meals. We had a ball.
Lovely farmhouse with 4 spacious bedrooms and all the equipment you need for a comfortable stay. Chickens, sheep, cows, etc. all nearby. Wonderful views of the mountains and the valley. Very quiet location, about 10 mins drive from Bright. Easy access to Mt Hotham and Mt Buffalo.
We absolutely loved our annual family snow week. Plenty to do on the farm for non skiers. Fresh eggs everyday, loved feeding the chickens and sheep, kids loved all of that, having an outside fire eith marshmallows and spooky stories and cosy family nights and 4 days of skiing as well. Ed was terrific showing the kids hay feeding time with the cows. Special hugs to Walter and Speckles those gorgeous pups. We are definitely returning next snow season.
We had a great time at the farm, swimming in the river, riding bikes and relaxing. Good location close to Bright and Feathertop trails. Love the atmosphere and views. Manager and rental process very efficient.

Real australian culture, lifestyle and total secluded privacy. Guests are reminded that we have a front gate to open and shut. That video security is active when entering and departing farm. Sorry no firearms or hunting allowed. No pets other than horses. No access to owners/ manager residential area, workshops, machinery, hay sheds. That any theft or damage occurs police will attend.

Provide a most memorable holiday trip, times and teach your children that farm life has challengers that are fun, exciting, wonderful! however strict rules, and responsibles must apply. That they must do chores to help each other. To give respect to each other and all farm animals. From helping tidy up to taking shoes off inside, chopping firewood, to feeding the chickens. Remembering to shut closed gates and specially the chicken coup! Watching out for Mr fox!
