Rent your own Hotel in the Victorian Goldfields

In 1853, gold was discovered at Maldon and within a few years there were 20,000 miners and 70 pubs in the town. One of these was 'The Eaglehawk Hotel'. A fire destroyed the timber hotel in the late 1800's and a new hotel was rebuilt in Edwardian splendour in 1906.

Today, this historic hotel can be yours.

The hotel is fully self catering and BYO and retains all the features from the Goldrush days. The Public Bar, Dining Hall and Ladies Lounge are all available for your exclusive use. The hotel sleeps up to 16 with flexible bedding configuration between King and Single beds.

The hotel is the perfect venue for your next Self Cater and BYO function whether it be a Wedding, Party, Conference, Retreat, Birthday, Seminar or Family or Group holiday.

The Eaglehawk - Maldon features:
- 90 minute drive from Melbourne
- Accommodation for up to 16 people. All linen and towelling is provided.
- Extensively equipped. All you need to bring is your fresh food, drink and fun.
- On-site Parking
- Self Catering with a very well equipped kitchen, just bring your food
- Multiple function and entertainment spaces
- Extensive gardens
- 5 bedrooms with flexible bedding configuration (King or Single beds).

Multiple function spaces include:
- Original 1900's public bar. A fully functioning bar.
- 'Ladies bar' featuring 2 open fires. Perfect for relaxing or as a break-out room for conferences.
- The original Dining Room
- Conservatory set up with lounges.
- Sun deck
- Extensive gardens

The bedrooms are located in the original accommodation wing of the hotel. They all retain original features such as open fireplaces, pressed metal ceilings and ornate cornices.

Important Note: An additional charge applies for hosting events such as weddings, parties, conferences, reunions etc. An 'event' is defined as any gathering where people who are not registered guests sleeping at the hotel attend a gathering. Please contact us for a quote that includes the event fee. The event fee provides you with additional facilities that are otherwise not available. These include additional dining chairs, crockery, cutlery, glassware, serving ware, commercial dishwasher, coffee machine, additional refrigeration etc.

Our 4 families returned to Eaglehawk for another NYE holiday at this wonderful property. Beautifully decorated, ample space to share meals or have time out to yourself to read and relax. Highly recommended.

Unique, cozy property in an amazing location

We had such a great time at the Eaglehawk. A beautiful property with a wonderful garden and lots of unique, cozy spaces throughout. A short distance from the lovely town of Maldon, would love to come back for another stay.

My family stayed midweek in Autumn and were very impressed with this beautiful Hotel. It was decorated and furnished to the highest standard with amazing attention to detail. The garden was very relaxing sitting under the birch trees enjoying the peace and quiet. The Hotel was spacious, clean, comfortable and a real treat to step back into history. I would highly recommend this experience to others and hope to return again!

Remarkable and Nostalgic Accomodation

The Eaglehawk Country House Hotel was everything we hoped for and so much more in celebrating a milestone 40th Birthday. Even before festivities began, the owners made ideal suggestions for catering; Le Sel's, Miss Pritchard's Pantry and Maldon Butcher, all of which were exceptional and locally produced. They also honoured changes in check in/out times and made all the necessary arrangements to ensure our stay was all about spending quality time with family and friends, and living it up! Like from the pages of a glossy House & Home magazine, the guests were impressed with the Hotel design and decor, highlights being the bar entrance, long dining table/chandelier and chillaxed lounge room setting. It is testament to the efforts of the owners and the ideal accomodation at the Eaglehawk, that you leave on a high and adamant that you will someday return; due to the great memories that were made!

Best place in Maldon

We hired the full hotel for a hens weekend with 11 ladies and it was perfect! As soon as we walked in we were in awe of the beautiful home - especially the decor and magnificent dining area. One of our most special memories of the weekend is when Richenda (yes same name as me - first time in my life!) from Miss Pritchard's Pantry came and cooked a delicious meal for us. At $40 per head, it was an incredible feast that she made quickly and we enjoyed sitting on the beautiful long table with incredible chandelier above our heads. This house has EVERYTHING (yes everything!) you need to accomodate a group, a beautiful outdoor area and comfy beds. It was perfect too because Ken and Mark accommodated early check-in and late check out - they made all the beds individual instead of single. Seriously, no complaints except that it took a while to figure the coffee machine out (but still it worked and made great coffee). If you have the opportunity to stay here with a group - don't go anywhere else.
