very good
It was a very beautiful place, very peaceful and quiet, everything was in the house, thank you
Great location only minutes to Mr Buller entrance.
Loved the house.
If you research the design it brings it all together and you can recognise the inspiration behind it and the elements that make it come together.
We had a lovely stay with two families at Darren’s place and couldn’t fault it. Beautifully designed home and extremely well appointed. Location is fantastic in a quiet corner of Sawmill Settlement. Darren was very helpful with the booking and self check in was a breeze.
Beautiful position amongst the trees in Sawmill Settlement. The house is a really cool design and build and bathrooms are lovely. The kitchen is modern and very well stocked with utensils and kitchen equipment. I meant to leave a note for the owner that it appears queen bed in room without the ensuite may have broken slats on the bed as the couple in that bed said they kept falling into gap so might be worth checking. Would be lovely base for hiking too.

Dissatisfied with the facilities provided
It was a clean place
However, we did expect milk/milk powder to be provided for morning tea and shower gel at least considering how far the place is from convenience/grocery store
Also some of the items in the pantry were expired and outdated for example olive oil bottle was expired (photos can be shared ).

Sorry to hear this was an issue. As you can see from all other reviews this has not been an issue for anyone else. The olive oil is provided for in a refill porcelin container which is an environmentally freindly way of providing this product. The bottles were left by a previous guest and not removed by the cleaners. The house is located in a beautiful remote location and all pantry and fridge perishable items are to be supplied by the guests and taken with you for your stay. The is a geral store 10 mins away if required. Its a pity that there was no comment about actual house, and or the beautiful location amongst the Mountain Ash Forests.

Unfortunate end!
If you are looking at this property please do note that it is still in the process of being built therefore there are parts still unfinished. (August 2017) There is no mention of this whilst making a booking. Myself along with 7 other friends stayed at this "retreat" for the weekend while we enjoy Mt Buller skiing. I have to say, the location is great as it doesn't take too long to get to the mountain. We did enjoy our stay here however on departure, we all are extremely dissapointed by the owners decision to keep $100 of the bond for a broken toilet seat which DID NOT occur during our stay. Upon received this email we asked for photographic evidence which came back with the slightest chip on the back of the toilet seat. Moral of the story, check over everything in this property before staying so you don't end up like us!!!!

I need to point out that the above reviewer stated that they were going to leave a great review until they realised that bond was going to be deducted because the toilet seat had been damaged and was required to be replaced. We also received a complaint from a our neighbour about noise on their first night, contravening the rules of the house. The above review is misleading, as this house is new, one of the best accommodation options in the area, and is completely finished, as presented in the photos of the house on Stayz. Certainly anyone staying here will have a great stay and enjoy the house as the other reviewers have stated. Happy to chat to any future guests regarding staying at our house.
We had 4 nights at Sawmill Settlement. The house is very well equipped, clean, warm and comfortable. It is a 20 minute drive to Mansfield so you need to be organised with food - the fridge and freezer are sizeable and there was a good selection of condiments and general items if you forget something. Overall a great stay and would recommend for a group of friends/family.
The property was clean, warm, quiet and beautifully situated overlooking bushland. We had a wonderful stay. Darren was great to communicate with. We were however a little disappointed that supplies weren't provided or a description as to what we needed to bring was not provided given Mansfield was a distance to travel to (e.g. coffee pods for coffee machine, soap and shampoo). In our experience these items and more have been provided whenever we have rented previously. Otherwise we loved our stay at your beautiful home. Many thanks
We had an amazing stay here. So close to Mount Buller. Was a great base to get to the mountain. House was very comfortable and big enough to fit two families easily. Thanks for having us!
We were a large family with 6 adults and a toddler. We all had a wonderful time. Great cosy and comfortable house with good facilities, beautiful views and gorgeous wildlife. Darren was lovely and great to communicate with. No one wanted to leave at the end of the stay. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends!

Big Beautiful property
We stayed at the cross river retreat in sawmill settlement. It's a large and beautiful property that suited our group well. We enjoyed our stay very much. Our suggestion for improvement would be to include instructions for the house including, Wifi passwords, local food options etc. (We eventually found the wifi password on the router)

The perfect escape
This place is an absolute treasure. I stayed here during a work stint in Mansfield and was fortunate to find this little slice of heaven. The house is beautiful and luxurious whilst being warm and comfortable. The house looks even better than in the photos. Clean and spacious with a fully-equiped kitchen that was perfect for cooking at home and dining amongst the gum trees on the balcony. Everything had been thought of. Perfect location to explore the river and nearby trails. Will happily return and highly recommend.

Great house to base your bike trips. We stayed here over the long weekend and it was a fantastic base for using the many tracks and trails around Buller. Very comfortable, with views across the forest and valley. Great watching the sun go down, as we had dinner and drinks after a long day! Highly recommended.
