Sawmill Mountain Retreat is architecturally designed accommodation by DCS retreats, available in Sawmill Settlement. It has been specifically designed to cater for several families in the one home. It features an open plan living space incorporating kitchen, living and dining areas with a large fireplace as the focus point opening out onto a large deck. The master bedroom is completely separate from other bedrooms and has its own ensuite, huge bath and deck area. A party wall divides this area for complete privacy. Two other bedrooms and massive loft space are serviced by separate toilet and bathroom. The Loft space can sleep the overflow or be a place for the kids to hang out. The entrance has a secret dry room designed for all the ski gear to be put up to dry out of sight.

Hideaway retreat

After a bumpy start in acquiring this accomodation, the owner went out of his way to make our stay great. Beautiful location out of the way, perfect for peace and quiet in the summer. Would be perfect skiing location.

We used the house as a base to explore the lovely walks around Mount Sterling and Mount Buller. The living space is delightful and the kitchen is impressive (unusually good knives pots and pans). We slept very comfortably in the master bedroom, but our son reported that the double bed mattress could be better. It was a little bit disappointing to be told a day before we left that internet use was limited and to discover on arrival that the television was for playing DVDs only. Overall though, a lovely stay in a very comfortable house.

Sawmill property

The property is in a lovely location, and is a good layout for groups. However the property good have been cleaner,some cushion covers were dirty and shelves dusty. The master bedroom bed is very low and the mattress extremely uncomfortable also chair in other double bedroom needs repairing/replacing-also loose board in entrance is dangerous.

Perfect place to get away

One of the nicest places we have stayed and so very close to Buller. The property has a nice little creek running past, wild birds visit the deck outside and the fireplace was amazing. Kids had an absolute ball and enjoyed playing with the toys. It had everything you could want and I hope we can stay there again in the future.

The Architectural design of the Butterfly House is inspiring.

Sawmill Settlement location with the majestic trees and wildlife compliments the house and makes this a peaceful location to get away from the city. We found the layout very functional with 2 families staying at the time. The house had everything we needed for our stay and the kids enjoyed feeding the King parrots out on the large deck. We enjoyed our trip up to Mt Bulla and visiting Delatite winery for a tasting session and a enjoyable lunch.
