About this property

Dairy Song: Where the music happens

This historic family dairy near Nabiac is nestled in the hills between Forster, Taree and Gloucester. It became a music studio where songs flew between Nashville, LA, and Firefly* but today, is a freshly renovated spacious cottage under a towering Morton Bay fig tree where you can get creative or just kick back, relax and explore our property or nearby attractions of the lower mid north coast.

Birdwatchers - take note! There's a free album to anyone who can add another bird species to our list of more than 50 birds spotted on our 50 acres! Alternatively head to the nearby sandy beaches of Tuncurry, Forster or Blackhead, the mountain backdrops of Gloucester and Barrington, or the mighty Manning River of Taree.

Our hill is only 15 minutes off the Pacific Highway at Nabiac. Dairy Song studio features one large bedroom with queen size bed (& an optional fold-out bed for a child), a kitchen/dining room, and a rustic bathroom. Tinkle the ol' ivories on an heirloom piano or classic Fender Rhodes, curl up in front of the fireplace to read or watch TV (Netflix and On Demand TV available), access the Wifi, check out the sunrise or sunset from the decks outside, stretch out with some yoga on the decks or some hammock time, enjoy the outdoor hot/cold shower under the fig tree (day or night!), head out for a walk along our pathways, play some of our games (supplied) or gaze in wonder at the star-filled night sky.

Breakfast options include a fridge stocked with fresh local free range eggs, milk, tea, coffee, etc. Dinner can be sourced nearby from Krambach or Nabiac Hotels, or you are welcome to use the BBQ and well-equipped kitchen facilities provided.

Up to 2 small to medium size friendly dogs are welcome. Tick protection is recommended and note that although it's unlikely, we do not guarantee the more curious dogs won't find a way through the fence! We have a very friendly border collie who will be happy to befriend you or your dog, if his company is sought.

Always respecting your privacy, our own house where we live with our two children is less than 100m away, should you need anything at all.

About the host

Hosted by Rebecca Casson

Host profile image
This former dairy property was initially brought into the family fold in the 1930s and has remained in family hands ever since. In 2003 Rebecca and Hugh moved from Sydney to Firefly, purchasing Hugh's grandfather's property from a cousin. Now with two sons, Rebecca has been busy retraining from television producing to regional journalism to teaching; Hugh enjoys his ancestral hill as a creative space to compose and record, a respite away from touring and performing on the road.

What makes this property unique

Sunrises, sunsets, creative spaces placed within and without the studio, this is a home where guests can take their time to breathe deeply and relax. Between three major towns, multiple beaches and lakes, two villages with pools and pubs and world-class eateries, there's plenty to choose from. And the birdsongs are plentiful, inspired by the creek and surrounding trees - an environment where time stands still.
