About this property

Red House, Mangamaunu

Located just 10 minutes North of the Kaikoura township.
Fantastic Bach with direct beach access.
Two spacious bedrooms with a comfortable queen bed in each.
Open living/kitchen areas which open out to beautiful front and back decks.
Private fenced courtyard and own beach access. Can view the surf break from your lounge chair!
All the mod cons, Netflix, unlimited Wifi, Dishwasher, Washing Machine,
Wood Burner, outdoor BBQ and did I mention.... your own beach!
Epic surf break @ Mangamaunu just a 5 minute walk up the beach or 2 minute drive in the car! Close to Meatworks, Graveyards and Irongate.
Great surf casting right out front.
Big opening Bi-folding doors and windows for those beautiful sunny days.
Although only 5 years old, this is a very well established Bach & nestled in amongst lovely trees.

Suitable for up to 4 Adults.
Off-street parking for 2 and a boat or trailer!
Responsible dog owners and their dogs are also very welcome.
(Please ask re fencing)

Please note: the railway line runs between the house and the beach and although there are not many trains, when they do come by, they are very close! This is a novelty for most people, but we understand it's not for everyone.

This is not a serviced Bach so you need to supply your own linen, towels & tea towels and clean after your stay. All cleaning equipment is supplied, but you have to do a good job!

The internet can be temperamental due it being on the old copper network.
Most of December and January are minimum 3 night booking.

Relaxing stay

We had a great stay at the red house. The kids loved the beach being so close and we managed to catch some nice fish while there. It has everything you need and is nice and cosy even on rainy/windy days.

On the Beach!

Beautiful location, really nice cottage, well equipped, room and comfortable. Great sunrises over the Pacific, convenient to Kaikoura. Loved it, would stay again.

Magic mangamauna

Incredible location right across the train track from the beach. The Red House is delightful - thoughtfully built with pieces of history recovered from a bowling club destroyed in the Christchurch earthquake, then restored and renewed with a careful eye. It was a treat to stay here for two nights with the family.

We love this place and our return visit and intention to come again reflects this. This place will appeal to anyone who likes being close to the sea with direct access to the beach, staying in an attractive, comfortable and very functional bach, and having a touch of drama with the odd train passing by. What a gem!

This is our second stay at the Red House and we love it. So warm and cozy. Our dogs love it there. Great secure back yard and they adore the beach being right there. Sandy gave us a heads up that we could arrive early as there was no back to back booking which was much appreciated. Will we be back?…absolutely!!

Magical Seaside Spot

Gorgeous little seaside cottage, the first thing we saw was dolphins in the sea behind the house. Warm, cosy and comfortable. We cooked marshmallows on the firepit. Make sure that you turn out all the lights and go outside to get a breathtaking view of the night sky.

Amazing spot

We visited Kaikoura for my husbands birthday, to get away somewhere different and absolutely adored the red house! It had everything we could have needed for a long weekend and very beautiful with lovely finishing touches everywhere. The train was such a great novelty and exciting to see it go by, like other reviews mentioned, it wasn’t a bother at. We’re excitied to come back someday, maybe in the summer when we would be willing to take advantage of the close surf break down the beach.

Gorgeous property

The wee house is beautiful - the decor is eclectic and I loved it! The outdoor area was perfect and I can imagine in the summer it would be even better !! Loved that we could have our deputy dawgs with us - they loved that beach !!!
