Stuart Farm is a three acre farm with a newly renovated five bedroom, 1800 sq. ft. farmhouse in Cane Beds, Arizona. If you want to get away from it all and get out to the edge of civilization, this is the place. Located in one of the last great wilderness areas in Northern Arizona, it is very close to the Arizona/Utah border; between Zion National Park and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
This is cattle country and part of the famous Arizona Strip. It has long been a cattleman's paradise with large stretches of grassy meadow in the valleys and the high Kaibab plateau as summer forage. Many cattle ranching families have been here for generations and are what remains of the pioneers that traveled out in wagon trains to settle the west almost 200 years ago.
Before the west was settled, the property was home to the Anasazi Indian tribe. Many legends have been told about the Anasazi and what became of them. Our neighborhood is located at the foot of Lyon's point in the Cane Beds valley and we know that it was once home to more than 10,000 Anasazi Indians. If you hike around the property, you may find arrowheads, ancient pieces of broken pottery and see petroglyphs carved on the nearby surrounding cliffs and caves where the tribe once lived.
The farm is home to much wildlife including, deer, coyotes, jackrabbits and a herd of big horn sheep that can be seen on the north ridge from time to time. Of course, the black angus cows are on the east range and will usually come to the fence to say hello at sundown.
The farm offers stunning mountain views of red rock cliffs, spectacular sunsets but most glorious of all would definitely be the views of the night sky. We are located next to a very rare "International Dark Sky Region" which is specifically protected for its distinguished quality of starry nights, superb views of the milky way and natural nocturnal environments. These areas are extremely rare as light wash from cities and towns drown out the ability to see the night sky with the naked eye. These regions only exist now in a few remote places in the Western part of America and scientists tell us that in less than ten years, our area will be just one of two places left in the United States where dark sky's will still exist. This is something that you must put on your bucket list and if you are an astronomy enthusiast, bring your telescope and dive in.
Mother Nature has given us an abundance of gifts and we hope that you can find your way here and enjoy all of them.

My family loved the Stuart Farm. We had everything we needed and more. We ate a few of the baby tomatoes in the garden and they were delicious. We had a sweet cat come to visit us in the yard and the kids really enjoyed petting her. We really enjoyed looking up at the stars at night. This farm house has plenty of rooms and a nice dining room table for family dinners. All in all an excellent stay.
Great place to stay that is close to several destination hiking areas . Home and property is beautiful and exactly as pictured . Clean and well stocked with everything we needed . We had an awesome stay and would definitely return.
We enjoyed our stay at Stuart Farm. We reconnected with friends and enjoyed visiting Zion and Bryce National Parks. The location was quiet and the house allowed the six to stay comfortably.
Came to visit Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon. Located with short driving distances to the National Parks
House had great layout and Penny was easy to work with.
Hot tub was great after long days on the trails
Cozy and comfy! Really enjoyed the art, artifacts, and antiques! Stuart Farm was a great place to jump off to the national parks and monuments in both Arizona and Utah. Such a beautiful area! Kind host too!
The location is very picturesque. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed. The nights skies were beautiful. Penny was very responsive to our needs. We enjoyed the hot tub after our long days of activity.
Loved the out of the way location with fantastic scenery out the back and front.
Dark sky and shooting stars every morning.
Complimentary wine was excellent.
Nice lay out of home.
Well stocked.
Cozy farmhouse for your Southern Utah home base vacay!
This updated farmhouse was just as described and a perfect home base for our 10 day Southern Utah vacation. Delightful unique features such as magnified sky lights for stargazing, a children’s nook for play & sleeping, grape vines with delicious grapes, a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of comfortable linens. We were able to visit Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon North Rim, Capitol Reef and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and use this home as a comfy place to return and relax each day. Stargazing from the deck was a favorite and so was enjoying the hot tub. Penny was very responsive to any questions or need. We hope to go back one day!
Quiet, incredible views, Stars visible even on the horizon. My teenage Grandson and I spent hours looking at all the stars, I have never seen so many. Also meteors shooting across the sky. The house was great. Plenty of room. My adult children wanted to stay closer to town but they humored me and I think they were happy to see the amazing daytime and night time scenery.
The home felt like we never left our own home!
It was well equipped with cleaning, food, and house supplies. And more than enough towels to last the week for our family of 9. My only regret was not having access to the balcony from the 2nd level floor.
As my granddaughter said to me, "This place is a do over".
This was exactly what we needed. Far away from the hustles of everyday life. Amazing views of the mountains and canyon. Plenty of space on property for the kids to run around. The house was perfectly set up. “Short” drive into the town but a grocery store near by that has just about everything you need.
1.5 hr drive to both Bryce and Zion
2 hr drive to north rim. If you visit have to stop by Jacobs Lake Lodge for some zucchini lemon cookies.
25 min drive to the dunes.
We highly recommend this property
We planned to visit several national parks and needed a centrally located place to stay. Stuart Farm was definitely the place! Quaint charm, rural desert mountain views, and all the amenities we needed! The home was updated, clean, spacious for our family of 5, and just lovely. We enjoyed all of the outdoor areas to sit and relax. You have an amazing view right from the patio! About 10 minutes from Colorado City, AZ where you can shop at Bee's for anything you need, and there's a Dollar General across the road if not! I share that because it's what I wanted to know. The host was very helpful in offering that type of info, plus shortcuts to our destinations! Thank you, Stuart Farm, for a memorable trip!
If you need a place to stay close to Elephant Cove Trailhead in Corral Pink sand dunes this is the place. We had family and friends staying in their motor homes at choral Pink dunes. It only took 15 min tops, on a back road that went straight to where they were staying. This trip Was all about the dunes so finding this Gem was fantastic. Our family loved this place. Beautiful red mountains right in back of the house. The kids went on lots of hikes, sat in the hot tub at night gazing at the beautiful stars. Stuart farm is a cozy, clean, comfortable place to stay. It’s also close to so many great places. Penny was a pleasure to work with. Easy check in, and check out. The wi-fi worked great too. We’re defiantly coming back. Thanks Stuart Farm for being here. Thank you Penny for everything.

I think this conversation, with our 13 year-old son, summarizes our stay at Stuart Farm best:
Son: Dad, we've stayed in some really nice rental houses before, but I like this one best. It just feels welcoming.
Me: I agree. It feels like you're home doesn't it?
Son: Yes, it does!
Our family (including 3 teenagers) all shared this sentiment.
Sometimes with rentals you feel like you get the bare minimum and that much of what is provided is the owner's leftovers that they don't use anymore. Stuart Farm was exactly the opposite! The home was warm, inviting and had well beyond everything we needed. There were enough dishes & cooking supplies to feed a family 3x our size. The grill was in great shape, worked well, and had an extra tank of propane just in case. Bath towels were actually plush bath sheets. Beds & linens were comfortable & quality. Washer & dryer were perfect for all of dirty laundry. It was clear that care has been taken to keep the home updated, clean & well maintained. And the central location allowed us to get to the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Sand Hollow State Park & more with a 2 hr drive or less in any direction.
Penny (owner) was awesome & made the whole process seamless! She was quick in responding to our questions & providing updates both before and during our stay. There is no question we would stay at Stuart Farm again if we were ever fortunate enough to make it back out to that area.

Nice but....
Excellent location to get to the beautiful parks all around. The "neighborhood" is a mix of trailers, shanties, overgrown properties, houses, etc. Does contain some awesome views as seen in the pictures.
This is not for those wanting privacy. You can get up to four unexpected, unannounced guests visiting you at anytime "checking" things. We had people after dark outside the NE window yelling at cattle that got loose. People coming on the property at 5~6am driving a four wheeler around. People showing up after 8pm tending the grounds. A car was left on the property for a time with no notes or messages. Could be disconcerting at times.
The property is nice. Has been fixed up to an extent. Does not have central air as stated. The first floor bedroom and family room do not have AC. The hot tub is not correct and is "slimy" on the bottom. Has a constant water leak outside that attracts flies by the dozens. No water pressure in the upstairs or downstairs showers. The shower heads have a lot of lime build up affecting the spray. The bed mattresses need updating.
Unfortunately, you'll not be notified of any problems before charges are made.

This review is unfortunately a retaliatory review because of a damage claim that was submitted for red paintball stains all over the house. We have been renting our farm for more than five years through VRBO and NEVER had less than a 5 star rating. This is the first one! Coincidentally, the first damage claim as well. Draw your own conclusions.

Read before you book!!!!!
This was a horrible experience, before we arrived we received messages that they were having a construction crew out at the house and she had them leave because we were checking in. I quickly realized why they were having work done, there was almost no water available at the house. I contacted owner and she asked me to go to the water room to shut off a pump, I did that. The owner reassured me she would take care of it and we’d have water. This was not the case, never did we have adequate water. After a couple times of completely being without water I received a text around 5 in the evening that I was expected to vacate the property immediately, not to mention I was 2 hrs away from that house and had nowhere to go, and I’m a single mom that now would be expected to pack up an entire house for five people at night with nowhere to go. I contacted Penny as soon as I could, we were on a hike at the time I received the text. She agreed we could stay at the house that night and then we could move to our new house the next day. At 11-12 at night my daughter and I packed up the entire house, because we were on vacation and had plans, plans that did not include having to abruptly completely move to a house 45 min away, so this was the only time we could do it. I cleaned the house very well, especially considering we had NO water, I got 2of 3 toilets to flush and she said I left the house disgusting, not true! I cleaned well. She doesn’t want to refund I’m assuming. Don’t stay here!!

This review was a retaliation review unfortunately because I complained about the condition that the guests left the house. We had a problem with a failed well pump that had to be replaced and we happily refunded the guest. This is very unfortunate, because we only have five-star reviews at our farm. Please see our other reviews when booking.
This is a beyond special home in a beyond spectacular location. The home is cozy yet spacious for families, and the grounds were so fun to explore. We made somany memories and we are sad to leave. I can’t be grateful enough that the owners are sharing this and for the time we got to spend together.Thank you thank you and a million stars LITERALLY
Penny was really helpful in answering questions. The property was amazing and just what we were looking for. It was spacious, quiet, had amazing views and was close to the parks we wanted to visit.
Stuart Farm is tucked away yet but has 360 degree views that just cannot be described. Painted hills, pasture, skies forever, sunrise, sunsets, moons and the night sky. We came to hike Zion and Bryce but enjoyed our time at this perfect home as much as the National Park views. We were visited by cows, saw coyote, stunning the sunset colors in Rosy Canyon so close by. Complete quiet allowed us to listen to the wind and each other. Shooting stars at 4:30 AM followed by a neighboring rooster was a great way to start my day. Home was updated with some wonderful heritage pieces throughout. Furniture, linens seemed to have been chosen with careful respect of place. Bee's Marketplace is close by and equipped with anything you need. Don't come here if you are looking for a party. Come to reconnect with your creator and those you love. Great job Stuart Farm!
Our family of 9 loved our week's stay. There was plenty of space in this lovely home, and we appreciated a well-stocked kitchen. Penny's suggestions for places to visit were very helpful; I think we did it all. We took day trips to Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon parks. We enjoyed being able to climb the rocks behind the house and just enjoy the beautiful view from the house itself. Highly recommend this stay for many reasons!!
Amazing place to get away from it all but still short drive time to the National Parks!
My family set out find a great spot to spend on memorial weekend that wasn’t busy. Great news is we found a hidden VRBO treasure with Stuart Farm!
The views are spectacular with little noise from anything else you definitely get the feeling of tranquility. Star gazing from the roof deck is one in a million! We never realized how much we’ve been missing out on to the naked eye where we live.
We visited Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon while down there, it is definitely a destination if you want to be able to get to your parks in good time and avoid the traffic.
The home has a wonderful kitchen to spend time cooking with your family and enjoying each other’s company at the bar and attached living room and family room. It is also equipped with streaming options, DirectTV, and Wifi (in case you don’t have cell service there like we did T-Mobile). There are also board and card games if TV isn’t your main source of nightly entertainment. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were well maintained and offered options for the whole family.
The owner was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had and offers welcoming suggestions for dining and such.
We were sad to see the vacation come to an end, but we will definitely be back when we visit the parks again.
