A Perfect Beach Escape

This home was perfect for our family of six! We adored the screened porch and the large deck was wonderful. The home was in a quiet area that was very easy to find. We would love to return to this summer retreat!

Quiet Location with a View

Great house and location is close enough to the main drag but far enough away to have absolute quiet at night. Rooms were fine. Kitchen had everything you need... However, Dishwasher was broken... informed office... they said they were working on it... Asked for extra dish towels and a drying rack for dishes... got ignored... would not use the management team if it were my property

Nice quiet, roomy rental house

We enjoyed our rental in Chincoteague. The 3 bedroom house was roomy, clean and well furnished. The nice screened porch looked out at the backyard and the tall grasses, which was very private and lovely. From the large deck, we could see Oyster Bay in the distance. Everything worked fine including the TV. We were very comfortable and will rent it again in the future. After the pandemic, we’ll bring along our children and grandkids.

Review of Deep Hole

Everything was great as far as how clean the place was and also is a nice quiet location. It could use some upgrades to make it more enjoyable though. Biggest thing was the horribly soft bed mattress....very uncomfortable and hard to sleep. Other than that it's not too bad.

August 2022 Stay

We enjoyed our stay at Southern Dream the deck and screened porch were amazing. The AC worked well. However, the mattress in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable. We ended up sleeping with our heads at the foot, otherwise our feet were higher than our heads. And there was NO LAUNDRY. For a 3 bedroom home at this price point!?! We would NOT have rented this one had we known that up front. We did enjoy the beach and downtown. A visit to the Chincatiki is a must. Great live music, beach vibe, family friendly, pet friendly. The farmers market on Saturday and Wednesday is excellent. Lots of excellent craft and veggie vendors. We thoroughly enjoyed our multigenerational stay on the Island.

We always enjoy our time on the island. So far your company is the best real-estate company we have hired on the island. Your contactless system was easy to use, informative, and made keyless access to home very easy. Spent most of our time on the beach everyday since the weather was simply perfect. The house was clean and well kept. Would have appreciated a washer and dryer for our 7-day vacation but it did not necessarily cause any problems for us. A longer stay warrants a washer and drier. The rooms were clean and everything was found to be in working order with exception of the mattress in master bedroom. Very uncomfortable but not impossible to sleep on. Ended up sleeping in another room. Again, this could have been much worse. The screened in porch was an added benefit should the insect situation escalate to critical, which it did not during our stay. The open porch is spacious with beautiful views. The road leading to the home is in serious disrepair but would not discourage us from leasing home again.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a good time and didn’t stay at the actual house much as we had been meeting with family in the area and doing all the wonderful things we could find. Overall the Southern Dream just didn’t meet expectations. Few points worth noting - ~The master bathroom was so small, we only used it for the kids when the main bathroom was in use or to brush our teeth at night. ~The tile in the main bath was very slippery and we were surprised there wasn’t a bathroom carpet/runner.~ toilets were both awkwardly low in height. We aren’t giants but it still was very noticeable every time we used them~ I get ants and pests come with all the nature in the area, but our toddler finding ant traps on the floor is not acceptable. I feel like we should’ve been warned about this or they should’ve been placed out of sight/reach.~ cleanliness of the home was fair at best. All the major areas were clean but we couldn’t help but notice cobwebs/dust in all the light fixtures. We also found vitamins on the floor in the master bedroom around the dresser. ~ appliances all worked but the dishwasher was extremely loud. We couldn’t run it during the kids nap time or at bedtime.

Southern Dream was a very nice place to stay! The deck had a wonderful view and the screened in porch was perfect for meals, we even saw an eagle perched in the trees for a couple days! We had a great time and enjoyed our stay!

Very peaceful

We loved the secluded feeling of the screened back porch and enjoyed watching the Osprey nest from there. The layout was simple and worked well for us.

Great weekend escape

We very much enjoyed our stay! The location was quiet and peaceful. The deck was a favorite spot. The house was very clean and well appointed with everything needed. A small washer/dryer would be an added bonus for the beach towels. Would definitely like to stay again!! Sadly our little girl left her beloved pink teddy bear at the house- we called but was unable to be located. If the owners should spot “pinky” in the room with twin beds (or under the bed)- we would gladly pay for shipping to get her back to her best Buddy!

Missing essentials

The house was fine, but missing most of the essentials expected in a typical beach rental, especially in the kitchen. No washer/dryer was a big turn off and we never were able to get the internet to work with the log in information provided. Nice private location, loved the decks. Interior doors were strange and difficult with children.
